Veeam backup for Azure failed to backup a VM to Azure repository

Hi, we have Veeam backup for Azure all setup and running and its been a couple of months. We have private network deployment with private endpoints in our environment with premium service bus and all subnets are allowed to access this service bus. We have 5 backup policies in total, 3 of them have been running fine but 2 of the jobs (with our file servers), the snapshots are running fine but the backup policy is getting failed after 4/5 hours of the session run with an error :Failed to perform backup of vm1 to Production Backups Repo 1. Worker VBA-5bf0973a-8e2c-4dda-ba63-28814324c1bb: getting of the job status failed (trace ID: b8b3fb4e-c7f0-4f86-aa22-4f2122f45b00)We have noticed that when the backup policy session starts, it backs up the data all the way to 60% percent and then it stuck for a very long time before erroring out this message. We have raised a support case with Veeam and they said they will need to check with their R&D team, as we have the same settings for all jobs

MS SQL Plug-In and email notifications

Hello everyone. I’ve been beating on this for a week and have finally given in to post a question here. I have the plug-in installed and it works great. Very easy to setup, and it just works.The problem comes where I am not very familiar with MS SQL. I would like to get email notifications for the database backups. It appears that this needs to be configured within SQL Server Management Studio. I have database mail setup and it can send test messages, but I can’t seem to get the SQL agent job for the database backup to kick out an email when it completes.Has anyone attempted to get this working who can provide me with some information?Thanks,Joe

on the new Ubuntu hardened repository i have set make recent backup immutable for 30 DaysOn the Backup Copy Job i have a retention Time 30 Days and GFS for 1 MonthsIs this Settings correct ?

Error: The device is not ready. Failed to schedule asynchronous read operation Failed to upload disk.

Came across a new error a bit ago within the Veeam Agent and I’m sharing this for my future self (and anyone else).  If all of the actions I performed took care of the issue, or if it it was just a single item, but here’s what I had to do for the below errors. The Errors10/18/2023 1:35:22 AM :: Data Partition (F:) (604.9 GB) 342.2 GB read at 69 MB/s10/18/2023 3:00:25 AM :: Error: The device is not ready. Failed to schedule asynchronous read operation Failed to upload disk. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: The device is not ready. Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [1402697]. Failed to download disk '0f9d11e0-8171-459b-819c-ebf55d31c45c' The Actions/ResolutionIn my case, researching this error indicated there was an issue with the volume, possibly with a disk table not matching the actual size or something along those lines.  It was indicated that I should try shrinking the volume.  There

Trying to restore Windows backup on Openstack environment

Hi everyone,I have an issue with my Veeam Media Recovery iso for Windows. I would like to use it on an Openstack cloud platform, but this iso won't boot.I know that Veeam doesn't support officially this, but I'ld like to know if somebody here try this ?The iso was generated from my Veeam B&R 11.0.1.1261 on a Windows 2016 server backup.Here what I tried :  - testing the iso on VMware environment = work  - upload the iso on Openstack  - run the iso with a flavor which have  1 cpu, 2Gb RAM and 1Gb HDDresult = No bootable device was found  - create a volume from the iso  - make it bootable  - run the volume with a flavor which have  1 cpu, 2Gb RAM and 1Gb HDDresult = No bootable device was foundFor your information, the same step work very well with my VMR iso for Linux on my Openstack platform. I have this issue only with WindowsThanks for your help

Openshift backup features

HelloIm looking for an openshift backup solution and would like to have details about kind of objects can be backed up with Veeam\Kasten.I guess that backup of Deployments, DeploymentConfigs, StatefulSets and VMs is a “must” so what about ability to restore, if necessary, a simple secret, service-account… Can we do that?Another topic, it is possible to create a SLA selecting as source of data an specific project? Where can I find out detailed product features?Best Regards

Migrating CDP Replica's to new Datastore

Hi all, last week I deployed a new storage array.  I’ve migrated all production VM’s as well as replica’s that resided on the datastores, except for CDP replica’s.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to migrate the CDP replica’s and update the CDP policy to point to the new datastores. Storage vMotion inexplicably gets cancelled by a user later on - assuming that’s VBR even though I currently have the policy disabled.  That said, I can’t modify the specified datastore below as well - all is disabled.  I thought I might clone the policy, but it looks like CDP policies can’t be cloned like backup and copy jobs - not a big deal but also caught me off-guard.So am I missing something, or do I need to recreate the policy and restart replication from scratch?

Testing Veeam for Salesforce - Error in eMail Notifications

Hello all,I’m currently testing Veeam for Salesforce. All works fine. I just don’t manage to get eMail Alerts up and running. I set the alert and the Connection Setup to Microsoft O365 with classic connection. When sending Test email I receive Error: G6HH: Notification channel configuration is invalid, please verify your settings.Trace Id: 293b541a6b68e109Can anybody help me with this error msg?ThanksRainer

Backup Copy Jobs wit GFS

if I have a backup job with GFS, and then the job is saved in a backup copy job, will the GPS backup also be taken over or do I also have to set GFS in the backup copy job?

VMware Odyssey | Online Challenge by Hands-on Labs (only today)

Just a quick info for the community, as the deadline is today at 08:00PM/20:00 PT.VMware is doing a challenge on their Hands-On Lab Plattform via VMware Odyssey. VEEAM Ent Manager and vCenter Certificate

Hello,I'm facing a challenging situation with our Veeam server and vCenter, and I'm seeking assistance to resolve this issue. Here's the scenario:Our Veeam server is not part of our domain.Our domain computers are signed with our Domain Controller (DC) as their root certificate.The vCenter is  not part of the domain.However, the vCenter certificate is assigned by our DC, which acts as the root certificate authority.The primary issue arises when attempting to update the vCenter. I encounter an error, and I've attached a screenshot for reference.Furthermore, it's worth noting that our Veeam server is also not a member of the domain. We are utilizing Veeam Enterprise Manager.I am seeking guidance on how to resolve this matter. What steps or configurations should I consider to ensure a smooth update process for our vCenter and resolve the certificate-related errors?Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated. Restore individual files returns the last version of the file

I’m running Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0.2.1090 - Free Edition on my Windows 11 PC and I’ve never come across this issue so far:Open Control Panel Run restore Individual Files Select a backup date browse the backup and select a specific file the file is shown in its current state, not in the state at the time when the backup was run. Even non-existing files at backup time, created after the backup was taken, are shown in the backup treeIs it a bug? Am I supposed to set some configuration parameter?I used to navigate the backup tree and select individual files to restore specific files in their state at the time the backup was run.Thank you in advance  Vieri

Veeam backupJobs FAIL becous of The RPC server is unavailable

I have got the following error for  4 different VMs  server’s backup jobs . this is happening for thre consecutive day now6/15/2023 11:34:55 PM :: Task failed. Failed to expand object RDS09. Error: The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)   any solution , suggestion? I really appreciate your help and Thanks in advance.

Backup server planning

Greetings everyone...I am working out the resources for physical backup server with local disks. Might I know if my workout is correct?Data size: 30TB (Exchange + File Share)Policy: 30 daily, 4 weekly, 12 monthly, 3 yearlySource: Sangfor HCI (requires to install agent), single siteAs refer to VSE https://calculator.veeam.com/vse/Backup Server + DB + Repository = 8 CPU, 20GB RAM for Veeam to work(No Proxy and Enterprise Manager required)And will add some resources for Windows OS Regarding storage, 249.43TB from VSE  So I add some buffer and for Windows OS with ~300TB disks space Assumptions:ReFSNo backup copy jobGeneric Pessimistic: daily change 10%, compress ratio 50%, annual growth 10% Is my thinking correctly?

Veeam v12 and Data Domain - possible cleanup issues

I have a customer on Veeam v12 which backs up to Data domain. Veeam performs a copy job to another mtree, then the DD performs a DD replication to a central immutable DD.Customer has space issues but we are seeing old veeam backup files still on the DD. We did a delete from disk for an old backup, but the file is still on the DD.Any recommendations or seen this sort of behaviour?I’m questioning whether Veeam is cleaning up old data. Backup copy retention is only 5 days.

OneDrive backup - How to see *what* was backed up?

Hello, Last night our backup job took much longer then normal Looking through the job history I saw one user with 51GB of data processed. This is very much out of the norm for him. I asked the user if they had done anything or added any folders and they are not aware of anything.My questions is, where or how can i see a log of the files processed, or even a compare feature from last nights backup to 2 days ago. I am just not able to find an easy way to see what was the 51GB that was processed.

V12 Upgrade failure: service missing on host

Dear Community,our installation is based on a single Hyper-V host with 3 VMs. Veeam v11 community was running fine until I upgraded to v12.Software is installed on a Win10 dedicated PC. When launching the V12 console, it asks for an Host upgrade which arrives to an error:“failed to upgrade host components. error: veeam distribution service is not installed”Do you know how to install such service on host?thank you for your testimonials and help

Veeam ONE web interface - internal error - v12

Veeam has recently been upgraded from 11a to v12. Post upgrade we cant get into the web interface for Veeam ONE. Client app works….I’ve checked IIS, local logs etc, cant see anything….anyone seen this?
