Good morning my friends, I have a question. Today I have 2 external HDs, where every Saturday I change one HD and the other week I put the other HD. One of them is doing the incremental process on the same folder regardless of the week it is. Already the other HD is creating a new folder and making the backups again. I don't want it to create another folder, I want it to use the same one. How do I do that? Since the other one is doing it and I just repeated the settings from the 1st HD to the 2nd HD.

Hey Guys, I have a scenarioIf I take a VM backup of ESXi of 6.5, can I perform a Replication or restore to ESXi of 7.0?

This was also asked at the AMA session during the Veeam 100 summit: I’d like to have application aware processing on Windows boxes by pre-installing some special Veeam software, but without having to specify an administrator-level account during job configuration.@HannesKback then replied that on V11 AAP did that trick just fine, but further testing showed that it was not possible. At least not without providing an account with administrative access corresponding to the VM.@Mildur at the time provided me with an alternative: instead of backing up via the ESXi API, install a standalone agent on the VM boxes, that would allow backing up without having to configure an admin account to the box. Hello all, I have a problem when i try to restore password or create a new account to veeam.com, i am not receiving email in O365.When i test this with gmail account it works fine. I have checked this with more than one O365 organizations. From the O365 admin center side it seems like the message has never been received.thanks in advance.

I’ve you’ve been following along, Friday Rackspace experienced a major disruption for their Hosted Exchange environment.  Why exactly you’d still be using hosted exchange vs moving over to M365 I’m not sure, especially after Exchange has become such a major target for zero-day and ransomware attacks, but there were a lot of folks that still were and they’re hating life about now.  Rumor’s I’ve heard indicate that their Exchange servers were not fully patched and malware has taken down the environment. Rackspace as indicated that the outage was caused by a “security incident”.To give a bit if idea just how bad it is, Rackspace is paying for it’s clients to utilize complimentary M365 Exchange Plan 1 licenses to get email up and flowing again, with the intention of moving back after this has been resolved, but I’m guessing most folks will not be moving back - I wouldn’t anyway.  Rackspace actually took the hosted Exchange environment offline to try which sounds like ransomware and an atte

Even though the datastore exists and can be referenced at destination ESXi host, the workingDir parameter was removed during restore with the following message.2022/12/02 11:48:46          Removing workingDir parameter because it points to a non-existent datastore /vmfs/volumes/63652fbd-aed4fef5-8da8-48210b3d7365After checking with support(Case # 05738353), we were told that the Veeam specification is that if the root directory of the datastore is specified, it is removed even if it exists.Please note that there may be few cases where the root directory is specified.

Backup frequency - Daily one  incremental and Weekly active FullReplication - Every 15 Minutes

I’m using VBR Enterprise and I’ve an issue with a SQL Server database restore to a Hyper-V VM.  I am currently backing up the VM using guest application processing which is working fine.  It uses PowerShell Direct because the SQL VM is on a private VLAN, which cannot be accessed from the VBR server which is hosted in a different data centre. It can however access the hypervisors and all backups have been successful.  Frustratingly, I’m unable to restore using the same methodology in reverse.  Surely if I can backup successfully using PSDirect, I should be able to restore using the same method?  I asked Veeam Support and they sent me here. 😐When I try a restore, I get an error saying VBR cannot access SQL… I can confirm that Named Pipes is enabled. Has anyone else ever run into this issue and found a fix?  I really don’t think it’s acceptable that I’ve to ask for help on a community forum regarding an enterprise product that should work out-of-the-box, but here I am!

We are new with using Veeam P2V. We’ve successfully P2V’d a couple of servers without a issue.We have been asked to P2V a Dell server running windows 2012R2.  Has 1 Hard drive that is 1TB.We deployed the Veeam agent and backed it up OK. We migrated into production (with NIC not connected and powered off). Once it was completed, we removed the nic from it in VCenter and added the VMXNET3 adapter and the correct assigned the Vlan back to it. We powered it on (w/NIC not Connected) and the server comes up and displays “Getting Devices Ready” and it just sits there with circle spinning.Anyone seen this before and have any suggestions of what the issue could be?  

I just want to say how grateful I am for the Veeam culture and the way they operate as a company and their extensive involvement in the Veeam community. I have extensively also used a competing product and I feel largely ignored by them and I have deep seeded impression that the company’s engineers couldn’t care less about the customers’ ideas and concerns and believe they know better than the customer and just choose to ignore 99% of what is suggested to them, meanwhile they seem to have the development  acumen and abilities of first year college students. Meanwhile, a company like Veeam, that is a giant and a powerhouse, goes out of its way to not only make an amazing product, but also is incredibly involved with their client community, includes them in the decision making process through the Veeam Legends and Vanguard programs, and goes out of their way to make sure their customers know they are heard and cared about. I have so much respect for @Gostev @Rick Vanover and the entire V

I had a co-worker who is blind. One of the things that was really frustrating for him was images, and especially images that do not have an ALT text or a description below. Some do have an ALT text like “logo 322kb” but that does not describe the image.As you might have noticed when I post an image here on the community hub, I try to describe the image below the image in the Caption. Currently this platform does not support ALT texts, so next best thing is using the caption below the image. From what I have learned from him, try to describe the image in the ALT text/caption as complete as possible. Hey all.  Using Veeam Backup and Replication 11 we backed up some files using a files to tape job as a once off outside of our normal backup routine.When I look at the properties of the tape I can see the individual files listed.However when attempting to restore an individual file I get the following:Can I not select individual files to restore?  Do I have to restore the entire tape or am I doing something wrong?thanksjc

Most of you are following the twitter saga. Politics and other issues aside I wanted to address one leitmotif brought forward by Musk and his horde of sycophants. Numerous times I have seen the argument “time to fight IT entitlement” used as a battle cry before performing massive layoffs. I have worked in IT for 20 years and while I have encountered some bad apples, on the whole the majority of Engineers and IT tech folk have been hard working and diligent people. I was working abroad from North America for 16 years and I was shocked when I returned to see the level of C Level, CEO etc entitlement. The salaries of this class of worker (and remember we are all a team as they love to say in the meetings!) had in my opinion unjustifiably skyrocketed to levels their predecessors could not have dreamed of. Inevitably to justify such a situation one must find a scapegoat and the hard working IT tech folks are an easy target.Or are they?My buddy and fellow Vanguard @mkevenaar started his own

So I ask, who uses it, who doesn’t, in both scenarios, why?

HI Everyone. I seem always to be doing at least 2 IT courses at the same time. The reasons are many but I can enumerate a few: One I enjoy IT :), Two I am worried about getting behind, Three I want to get ahead, Four I am addicted to getting the course completions certificates and certifications because it makes up for my years of goofing off in grade school and all but the last year of High School. Back then teachers were not very politically correct so I was called a moron, a pain in the a, imbecile, lazy, annoying and many other attributes which in today’s world would land the teacher in court :) . This obviously inflicted me with deep impostor syndrome whenever I find myself sitting at a table with smart folks :).So I am always doing courses. Now no one really pays you do do courses so you have to somehow fit them in with the boring stuff. i.e. work. I have a few tricks but wanted to know if you had any as well. For one thing on most courses you can turn up the speed of the lecture
