Hi guys,a reminder for Service Providers like me who have VBO365 installation on the same VCC server: after upgrading to V12 it is necessary to reinstall Veeam Exlporers for Exchange, Sharepoint and Teams compatible with the installed version of VBO365.To do this:1) Open a cmd with administrative permissions2) Pull up the list of installed programs with the command "wmic product list brief > C:\temp\installed.txt"3) Uninstall the desired explorer with the command "msiexec /x {ProductCode}"4) Once the three programs have been uninstalled, you can proceed with reinstalling the old Explorers. You can find the executables by mounting the ISO of your version of VBO365 inside the "Explorers" folder. Enjoy! 💚

A client of ours wants to move away from using AWS S3 as a secondary backup and asked if it was possible to host their own in one of their international offices ? They effectively want to be their own cloud backup provider, has anyone done this or can suggest software that can be used etc..
Hello, I’m trying to set up an external repository in CE12. I was able to create the container ‘backups’ and I can see it when I go through the repository wizard in Veeam BUT the wizard requires a folder as well as a container. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to create a folder in the container. Any help?

Happy Friday everyone! I’d like to thank my dear friend@Andrew Samuel for today’s fun friday. The onosecond, or the “ohnosecond”. What is the onosecond? It’s humourously described as the fraction of time between making a mistake and the realisation of the mistake you’ve made. Brilliantly presented in this YouTube video: So, today I ask you, what was your most memorable onosecond?
Are you studying for the VMCE or VMCA exam?Did you know that ChatGPT can help you?I asked ChatGPT to create me an easy and an advanced level exam prep, this is what I got. 👦🏻 I'm studying to take the VMCE exam, give me a 10 question exam prep.🤖 Sure! Here are ten questions for Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) exam preparation:What is Veeam Backup & Replication? Explain the components of the Veeam Backup & Replication architecture. What is a backup repository in Veeam Backup & Replication and what role does it play? How does Veeam Backup & Replication use VSS technology? What is the purpose of the Veeam Backup & Replication proxy server? How does Veeam Backup & Replication handle data deduplication and compression? What is the difference between backup and replication in Veeam Backup & Replication? How can you restore a virtual machine using Veeam Backup & Replication? What is a SureBackup job in Veeam Backup & Replication and how does it work? How
Today I will discuss a scenario for Veeam VBR v12 and Dell Data Domain. This deployment includes the VBR version upgrade and hardware expansion, this backup design and deployment was completed last week. Please refer to my blog below. https://wuchikin.wordpress.com/2023/02/27/3-copies-architecture-on-veeam-vbr-v12/
The company I work for has recently taken over another, with each having its own network, domain & Veeam B&R setup. One side (A) is mostly broken from the backup side with B&R installed on an ancient server and the repository using the same storage as VMs which has quickly filled up. A & B live in the same data center, connected through their own firewalls. My first thought to fix this mess is to remove the broken B&R completely from A (remove from hosts etc) and use the working sides (B) B&R, utilising a Veeam proxy installed in A. Any thoughts or suggestions? Would the firewall only need to be opened between B&R in B and proxy in A?

Hello,VBR,ONE, and Enterprise manager configurations hosted on external failover SQL cluster, what is the best practice here for those SQL hosts, backup it as application-aware, or via agent, or just backup VBR configuration via configuration backup job?
Hello all,I’m trying to validate bare-metal recovery of a physical Windows 2019 server. It is backed up by an Agent job in my VBR server (v11a, latest patch), with the agent installed on the host in version 5.0.3.4708. Backup works fine, file-level restore from VBR in the Windows system too.I wanted to test the “worst case scenario”, so I copied the backup files on a USB drive, created recovery media from VBR, and tried to restore on a different server (different hardware). Boot media works, but when choosing backup file, I am blocked d by the message :“Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is unable to open backup files created by Veeam Backup & Replication”It looks like the post below, but as everything was recently installed and up to date, I dont know …Am I missing something obvious ?Any help would be really appreciated.Regards.
Hello, We’ve tried upgrading our VBR/EM from V11 to V12 GA today. EM upgrade goes fine, but:VBR upgrade issues a warning at the beginning, requesting to… upgrade EM, although it’s already in V12 and operational. It’s just a warning though and we can continue the upgrade The upgrade then fails in the 1st step with an error “TFS354792” about a database patch missing. We also tried to completely uninstall/reinstall VBR but the installation fails at the same step with the same errorI’ve seen kb4204, but I don’t get why it fails for a completely standard upgrade from the latest level of V11 ( 11.0.1.1261 P20220302 )?We had a couple of “private” fixes installed after P20220302 for various issues with cdp, could it be related?
I have 3 issues that I cannot resolve nor find answers to.I’m running the Windows Community Edition V5.0.0.4708 on two Windows machines. One is Windows 10 22H2 and the other is Windows 11 21H2. These two machines are being backed up to a file share on my TrueNAS server. The first issue is that from time to time the backup fails with the following error message: “Error: The network path was not found. Failed to get free space on disk '\\xxx.yyy.zzz.nnn\Clients' --tr:Error code: 0x00000035 … The network path was not found”. I configured the back to use either host name or IP address as the backup target, but it seems to make no difference. This happens on both machines.I thought that it might be a timing issue that when the computer wakes up to do the backup, the backup starts before the computer has established a network connection. On the Windows 10 machine, using the BIOS I able to create a wake up event approximately 2 minutes before the Veeam agent started. This lessened the i
Actually I have tried to install v12 RTM as a in-place upgrade on 4 customer servers now and all fail.Veeam support has been on remote session and we will continue the work tomorrow since it also failed at last attempt after hours of troubleshooting. Would be interesting to hear if there is anyone else who has been issues with the upgrade? The servers I have tested has the latest v11 build and server 2016. Very simple deployments with few config settings so no big issue. But so far I am a bit concerned to start upgrading larger deployments.
Hi All,Currently we are using Agent managed backup jobs. When we perform the decommission of backup jobs/remove a computer/workstation from backup job/rotation, we have to keep track of the retention of deleted computer/job manually and to remove the backup copies from ‘Disk(Orphaned)’/’Disk(Imported)’ . We have also enabled the ‘Remove deleted items data after’ parameter. But still we could see some scenarios were we want to delete the backup copies manually. My expectation is Veeam to delete the backup copies automatically once it crosses the set retention (even after the job/computer is removed from backup rotation). Is there a way to achieve it?
I have found a weird issue that is pretty specific. My co-worker opened a ticket with Veeam, but eventually closed it with no solution. We found a work around so it’s not really a problem. Here is the issue. We have a VMware Horizon Agent installed on our PC’s. This allows us the abilities to remote to them, using the horizon client, UAG, MFA, etc. Even using a BYOD. This all works great. HOWEVER, we noticed an issue that exchange restores have been bluescreening our computers lately. Multiple PC’s, different types, different accounts and so on. After a LOT of troubleshooting, we found out it only happened when the Horizon Agent was installed. We took it further, to only when the Horizon Agent is installed, and USB redirection is enabled. We disabled that feature which is our work around as we didn't need it. I was wondering if anyone uses Horizon, has an agent on their workstation, have USB redirection enabled, and recover mailbox items from exchange. It’s quite specific, but make s
We have been using Amazon S3 with immutability for years and its been working great at every restore, both in test and in production. But I must admit I have been waiting a long time for the Microsoft Azure Immutability to be in place and now with V12 it seems be at rest, at last! :) It will make it more streamlined since we can buy/subscribe the Azure Plan at our NCE/CSP-distributor at it will automatically fall under the customers name which then again will be in place on the monthylt bill. Great! But then I just started to read about Wasabi which really seems like an affordable solution, and even at much better pricing than Amazon/Azure.. How is that even possible..? With the V12 they have also appeared in the UI for the object storage and I guess they are know among the most interesting companies. I was wondering if anyone have any experience with Wasabi, and how you are comparing the offers/pricing from Azure, Amazon and Wasabi? As a Microsoft-shop we try to standardize as much we
Happy Friday everyone! I couldn’t resist making a v12 themed fun Friday considering it’s launch week! For those that have used v12 already, what’s the first feature you tried?
I am currently using Veeam B&R V11a. I also just installed Veeam One. As part of Veeam B&R, I have several windows servers which have the “Veeam agent for microsoft windows” agent installed. None of the servers with “Veeam agent for microsoft windows” agent are showing up in Veeam One. The data collection method for Veeam One is set to “Veeam Backup Data only”, would I need to change it to a different “Data Collection” mode?
