I am not an MSP, but I take care of multiple companies. I would like to backup and see the status of about 40 PCs across about 6 companies. I have been working to setup VSPC and as I get deeper, it seems like I will need about 3 VMs running Windows Server (and not slow PCs either). I have a server setup in Azure, but at this point it seems like it is going to cost me a couple hundred dollars a month in VMs plus licensing. Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong, or is this more outlay than it is worth for my user base? Are there any other recommendations that I am overlooking for someone my size? Just looking for helping guidance for managed backups that I can check on from my office.
Can backup job be edited from one host to another when VM move to different host? Or do we need to create a separate backup job. Will there be any issues with restore if backup job is edited with different host.
Background:We have a multi-cluster setup with Openshift installed on On-Prem, AWS and Azure. On-Prem is designated as Primary and AWS, Azure clusters are discovered as Secondary in the Kasten K10 Multicluster UI. A S3 bucket is used for global location profile. We have created global snapshot and restore policy. We have annotated K8 supported CSI driver for Kasten volumesnapshot. We can take snapshot (on an application) from On-Prem cluster and restore it to AWS cluster using the same CSI driver (persistent volume created on same storage). Thus our goal achieved.Concern:We see from our storage console, that Kasten restore operation created a clone volume. In earlier version of Kasten (v5.5), we saw that this clone volume was mounted as persistent volume to the restored application. Now in v6.0.3, we see that clone volume was there but not mounted. Hi allI often use a DELL PowerEdge R740XD2 as a Veeam Repository.This with a bunch of SAS HDD disks in RAID-60.Great as being a repository.But to make the disks even faster, I want to use 2x SSD disks to configure as a write cache so the backups can be written even faster.NICs are 10Gbit.As a RAID controller a PERC H730P is being used.Windows Server 2022 and REFS 64K is being used on the repo.This is a setup often being used in combination with Veeam.Cachecade is not possible anymore on the RAID controller.What options are there?Using 3rd party software to use the SSD disks as write cache. What software is recommended by Veeam and are you guys familiar with? Or just stay away from it because the extra performance is just limited? Thx for your feedback! regardsNico
Is there a way to get better reporting for usage on hardened repositories? I recently had a Wasabi issue after upgrading to 12 and our console was showing 29.7tb’s of usage which is right under our 30tb bucket. Actual bucket size was 128tb which lead to additional billing.

My customer has a windows server physical machine running with another backup solution and connected to DataDomain using FC. I sold veeam to this customer and have to deploy it. I want to use VMs for backup server and proxy server to deploy my solution so my solution will use IP not FC. The issue is that backups have to be done to the datadomain and is connected to infrastrutcure with FC. Can i use this physical machine as gateway server to help my VM backup server to use DataDomain to create repository?
Hello community, im testing kasten with kanister to backup a ns with NFS pvc. I have a question regarding this type of backup.If i mount same pvc or same nfs en multiple containers, when i run the nfs backup i am backing up twice the info, i mean nfs data.What happen when i restore the pvc, if i erase a file from nfs. Other files are replaced? thank you and sorry for my english.

I have a Kasten K10 instance deployed into a TKGS cluster hosted on vSphere via Helm.To make the dashboard available I set the ‘External Gateway’ flag to true and configured external-dns. The dashboard is now available but I need to embed a custom certificate and enable HTTPS, which is a requirement when connecting to Kasten to Veeam Enterprise (unless we allow insecure connections, which clearly we don’t want to do).I can’t find any instructions on this. Can anyone help?

We have several backup and replication jobs running on Veeam Backup and Replication build 10.0.1.4524 and have started receiving errors with all of the jobs failing. These error messages vary from “ Error: The network path was not found. Agent failed to process method {FileSystem.Exists}.” to“Could not perform threshold check for backup location “\\..." due to space info retrievement fail!Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FcCreateDir': The network path was not found. Cannot create folder. Folder path: [\\..].Job has failed. See logs for details.”When troubleshooting, we receive a warning while rescanning the repository stating that it is missing. We are able to SSH into the NAS backup repository and I am able to sign into the NAS and see all of the permissions and correct network paths. Is there anything more we can do to fix this issue or somewhere specific to look?

Maybe, we need to change our capactity and archive tier tartget from AWS S3 to Azure. What is the best way to migrate AWS S3 to Auzure? Move alle Data from S3 to Azure and do an import of the repository? Is there a best practise to move 900 TB Data as quick as possible? Is there a way to estimate the cloud out costs?As I remember I can destroy a AWS Bucket even with object lock enabled.

Hi Guys,Any best practice while doing backup of Veeam Agent for Windows on SMB shares? so that we get better performance?We are using shared folder option in Veeam agent due to fact that we do not have server in that location.Around 4 to 5 users in that location and does not make sense to have dedicated server. Only device present in the location is Synology NAS. Takes around 45 min to complete backup.Any possible option to optimise the performance ?

I’m finding it very diffcult to find a configuration guide to setup an SOBR that offloads to AWS S3 Glacier archive tier. I understand the concepts but have no experience with AWS. Does anyone know of any guides that get down to the nuts and bolts of setting up the AWS infrastrcture? As I said, I’m new to AWS so need basics like how to apply permissions to resources (i.e. buckets) for users/groups. I’m looking for something on that level.

Hi All,I have restored two servers using veeam backup and replication. Both servers restored successfully but to a different host. However, when I login I get “No logon servers avaialble . . . “ error, I am also unable to login using the local administrator account.The Network is pointing to the server network on the new host and I don’t see any errors or anything glaringly obvious. I had Application-aware processing enabled on one of the restored server jobs but not the other. But I am unable to login to any of them.I did restore a server last week without any issues and was able to login to the Domain without any issues. Can someone offer any advice as I need to move servers off this host and the only way to do this is by Veeam backup. I have no option to migrate via vmotion or directly via the Hosts themselves.Thanks in anticipation.
Hallo zusammen, in Veeam V12 lassen sich mittels der GFS-Einstellung die Backups ja länger vorhalten. Ich habe nun folgendes Szenario: Physikalischer Backup-Server mit Veeam (Backups werden auf dem internen Speicher gesichert) und ein NAS, auf welches die Backups über einen Copy-Job erhält. Wie würde ich das GFS nun am besten konfigurieren - direkt im primären Backupjob, der auf dem internen Speicher des Backup-Servers sichert, oder würde ich auf dem Backup-Server nur bspw. die letzten zwei Wochen vorhalten und die GFS-Archive ausschließlich auf das NAS verschieben? Ein Kollege meinte, dass letzteres wohl das bessere Vorgehen wäre, da laut seiner Info das GFS nicht im primären (Haupt-)Backupjob konfiguriert werden sollte. Belegen konnte er seine Aussage allerdings nicht. Hat hier jemand Erfahrung und kann mir weiterhelfen? FGMathias
Hi TeamPossible to have one line command or script which can be ran on computer to check if backup is successful or not. This command will help me( probably others too!!) before the installation of windows update. Planning to run as pre-deployment task where patch management software checks if last backup is older then 4 days and its success, then patch installation will proceed or else patch deployment will wait until it see status as success. I think it will work better with exit code. Like Exit code=1;success and Exit Code=0 failure?In recent time we have see some laptop getting crashed, due to incorrect windows updates applied (restart of laptop by user) and we found that system cannot be restored using restore point since boot files corrupted.
