Hey guys,If I have deployed two backup servers in my environment and those servers are backing up the same workload, will it result a failure in the jobs of any backup server?

Hi, I would like to confirm if the Snapshot-based retention keep the full backup and only delete the incremental snapshots according to the retention policy (years, days, etc.). I need to do an incremental backup job like VBR, to keep only 2 months of incrementals. Thanks, Omar De Souza.

Every other database in our enterprise is being backed up except for the VeeamBackup database.  So, my question is - Should I run a native SQL backup on it? We have been running Veeam Backup & Replication (Version 11) for a few months now. It has been backing up our VMs and SQL databases except for that one.  I looked in the job and there’s no reason (e.g., exclusions) listed for omitting this database.  I logged a ticket with the HelpDesk but have not heard back from them yet. Have others noticed this problem?  If so, how did you address it?Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I am new to Veeam and trying to test Immutability. When i configure linux server as per the first step i am getting error. am i missing anything here? i tried enabling ports on Linux host still the same. 3/15/2022 3:58:56 PM Error    Testing Veeam Data Mover service connection Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it IP_address :6162                              No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it ipaddress:6162

Had a server get updated to a new version of Windows Server. Is a new full backup necessary? Will Veeam run one automatically if it is?

Hello,I’m testing Kasten 4.5.8 on a RKE environment 1.21.9 , during the execution of a policy with a Kanister action (PostgreSQL logical backup) if i try to export the backup to both Veeam Backup repository and minIO, i get this error:  Job failed to be executed Failed to copy artifacts Failed to get or add Repository artifact [POST /artifacts:getOrAdd][400] getOrAddArtifactBadRequest &{Message:Bad Request. Cause: Invalid Artifact: Repository Location store must be set.} If i run the backup policy with only minIO as target, everything works as expected, Instead if i try to run the policy adding the Veeam Backup Repository, i get the error as above.as the same, if I delete the Blueprint and I try to export the backup to both minIO and Veeam backup repository, everything works as expected.I’m wondering if Kasten is trying to upload the Kanister artifact on the Veeam Backup Repository,If true, it seems very strange by the moment we have defined a minIO object storage for the Kanister

Hi,I have a setup kasten10 on a microk8s single node cluster on a local server to backup my kubernetes cluster.Everything from backup perspective is working fine so far, but i have a problem with the ingress and ACME challenge with letsencrypt. The ACME challenge is working for my other services but I cant get it working with kasten10.k10-ingress:spec:  ingressClassName: public  rules:  - host: kasten.dummy.com    http:      paths:      - backend:          service:            name: gateway            port:              number: 8000        path: /k10        pathType: Prefix  tls:  - hosts:    - kasten.dummy.com    secretName: secret-kasten.dummy.comError on my ingress pod:[error] 2102#2102: *88192 upstream timed out (110: Operation timed out) while connecting to upstream, client: 192.168.1.1, server: kasten.dummy.com, request: "GET /.well-known/acme-challenge/<challenge-code> HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://10.1.206.218:8089/.well-known/acme-challenge/<challenge-code>", host: "k

I’ve seen this error message in the forums multiple times. From what I’ve read, there is a non-public hotfix available. The weird thing is, the backup copy was working fine until the customer swapped USB drives.I thought maybe the hotfix has been integrated into B&R 11a already, so I tried installing that today. That gets me a different error, also apparently a well known one: VBRCatalog is not a valid short file name. What I’ve tried:Setting the registry key for the Catalog Path, but the path already was correct. Haven’t installed any upgrades in the last 3 months. Still running version 11.0.0.837, but from what I saw during the upgrade, VBR Catalog is still version 10.0.1.4854.Any idea what I could still try?

Hi everyone!I am testing Kasten K10 v4.5.8 on my rancher cluster v1.21.9-rancher1, it is installed in air gapped mode with the flag global.airgapped.repository. I am doing some tests and I am wondering if it’s possible create a policy to snapshotting PVs and to perform a blueprint for logical backup.I have made some tests and what I have seen is that:- when I execute a policy for one application (namespace) and I have annotated the associated workload (StatefulSet/Deployment) with a kanister blueprint, as output artifact I get only the kanister and I don’t have a PV Snapshot;- when I execute a policy for one application (namespace) and I have not annotated the associated workload (StatefulSet/Deployment) with a kanister blueprint, as output artifact I get only the PV Snapshot;Maybe the snapshot of PV and the logical backup with kanister blueprint are mutually exclusive? Can I create a policy that returns both type of artifacts? Many thanks for support!

Hi All,I installed the kasten by helm chart on my k8s cluster but im facing the below error: $ kubectl get pods --namespace kasten-ioNAME                                 READY   STATUS             RESTARTS        AGEaggregatedapis-svc-698fc8cc7-xzjkc   0/1     CrashLoopBackOff   5 (2m44s ago)   21mauth-svc-7c6d5dfb99-m2wh8            0/1     CrashLoopBackOff   6 (114s ago)    21mcatalog-svc-cdd4b4875-277lj          2/2     Running            0               21mconfig-svc-7c7587c989-brj2p          0/1     CrashLoopBackOff   5 (27s ago)     21mcrypto-svc-fc5fb685d-ggk6d           3/3     Running            0               21mdashboardbff-svc-64b677dbdf-xtlfd    0/1     Running            3               21mexecutor-svc-8645d48645-8c8xn        2/2     Running            0               21mexecutor-svc-8645d48645-97xtm        2/2     Running            0               21mexecutor-svc-8645d48645-pkcr7        2/2     Running            0               21mfrontend-svc-5bc88d576f-dd66f

Hey guys,I read in veeam helpcenter document that for external repository the backups are created by veeam backup appliance of cloud. Can't the backups in the repository be of another backup software that is not of veeam?

Hey guys, I have a customer who has deployed veeam backup in two locations for backing up their workloads. Both veeam servers were on a different version(v11a and v11). A month ago the server running v11 ran into a issue and was cleared and I performed a patch update to make sure that they don’t run into that issue. This week we wanted to run a veeam cdp on v11a but the target server we tried to add issued a warning saying the target machine actively refused it. Does the patch update in v11 has something to do with it because this patch update has cdp support for vsphere or is it because of an issue from vmware?

There is File share server having volume X shared with RDS to keep the User Profile Disks (UPD). We want to backup the UPDs so planning to add the file share server in Veeam B&R as file server & create a backup job to backup volume X.Question 1→ If a user is logged-in to session host, meaning the UPD (VHDx file) of that user is mounted from the file share server to session host & same time the backup job run to backup volume X. Will there be problem with the VHDx, which is mounted to session host?Question2 → What is best way to backup File share server having UPDs of RDS ?

Good morning I wanted information.I have a vmware environment and with veaam I backup the VMs.I wanted to know how I can remove an esx host from veeam licenses and thus freeing 2 sockets assign the license to another esx host. attached in file 1 I want to revoke socket for 172.40.0.14 and I want to assign it to another esx host that is managed by the same vcenter. kind regards

I took a snapshot of a namespace and restored it but I can't see any action on Kasten. And we also facing the error when taking snapshots of some namespaces like "Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'value')". Please assist, I would appreciate your assistance.

Hey guys,Yesterday, I added a vCenter infrastructure to veeam but I got a warning saying the target machine actively refused it. Can anyone give a reason for that and suggest what needs to be done?

If you setup a VBR agent based backup on a machine that has 3 volumes listed in the OS (one volume being the VBR backup repository), and you set the backup type to entire computer; VBR by default will backup all 3 volumes listed in the OS, including the backup repository volume, correct? For context, in this scenario, the Veeam repository volume points to a NAS setup via iscsi initiator.

Hi All,I am creating new profile on Kasten 4.5.9 from Nutanix S3, and I am facing the below error:Status:Error:{"message":"Failed to validate profile location","function":"kasten.io/k10/kio/configcontroller/profile.validateProfile","linenumber":56,"file":"kasten.io/k10/kio/configcontroller/profile/profile_validation.go:56","cause":{"message":"Could not get profile bucket","function":"kasten.io/k10/kio/configcontroller/profile.checkLocationObjectStore","linenumber":333,"file":"kasten.io/k10/kio/configcontroller/profile/profile_validation.go:333","fields":[{"name":"bucket","value":"backup"}],"cause":{"message":"failed to get bucket backup: Container, getting the bucket location: IllegalLocationConstraintException: Attempting to access a bucket from a different region than where the bucket exists.\n\tstatus code: 400, request id: 210000+3157+134355+110117, host id: 210000+3157+134355+110117"}}}the same bucket I added to kasten 2.5.12 and it working perfectly, please you kindly adviceregar

Hi Every one,one of my client use huawei vdi solutions. now they want to backup VDI machine using Veeam VBR.is it possible to take backup by VBR?

Hi,I am testing Kasten K10 v4.5.8 and I would know is there is a way to delete a PV snapshot after a backup action.I backup one application (namespace) and after the snapshot action there is a PV in status RELEASED (its name is something like “kio-xxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx”) in my cluster, there is a blueprint with delete phase to delete it? Many thanks!

We are running 11a with IBM SVC storage integration and storage snapshots. On our Linux proxies there are regularly leftover multipath devices. In the case below the only mapped device at this time is the 5GB disk (mpatha, for testing). There is no backup running anymore, no 10 TB disk should be there. The amount of devices varies from host to host, some don’t have any leftovers. # multipath -lmpathsqu (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e70) dm-41 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqh (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e82) dm-15 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqt (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e77) dm-39 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqs (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e6b) dm-37 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqr (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e67) dm-35 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpatha (3600507680c80802f30000000000274b6) dm-6 IBM,2145size=5.0G features='1 queue_if_no_path' hwhandler='1 alua' wp=

Hi,Veeam Backup and Replication used to backup Nutanix AHV infrastructure VMs and have configured Backup job and Backup Copy Jobs at DR site NAS Repository. used Proxies:Nutanix AHV vProxy - Max Tasks 10 Vmware Backup Proxy - Max tasks 4 Backup Proxy - Agent - Max tasks 4Gateway ServerI need to add dedicated Gateway Server close to NAS Repository at the DR site to optimize the backup and copy job performance with Repository. what are the main points should I consider about the Backup infrastructure to size the required Gateway server? Is there any sizing tool for specify requirements for gateway server?WAN AcceleratorI want to add separate WAN Accelerators at Primary source and target destinations. what should I consider when sizing VMs for WAN accelerators for my requirement. please help me to get this done. Thanks.

Is there a need to deploy backup proxy for veeam agent backup?
