Hello, Recently, the Veeam B&R server was updated to the 11.1.0. (). When I first opened Veeam Console, The “Components Update” wizard was initiated and the update processes were started. The update of the veeam server failed with the status “Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Error 1714. The older version of Veeam Agent for Linux Redistributable cannot be removed.” What can I try?

Hi Team, My upgrade from 11 to 11a is failing with this message. “Failed to start service “VeeamExplorersrecoverysvc.” Click retry to attempt to start the service again. Click Cancel to continue installation without starting the service.”If i cancel it it cancels the install. Hello,a customer needs to setup cloud backup using Veeam Cloud Connect.Total source capacity is about 90TB of heterogeneous data (40 VMs, most of them are users files, db, sap)Needs are daily incremental, 1 monthly full/VM, 6 months retention (totally 6 full backup/VM).I don't understand how to use the capacity calculator https://calculator.veeam.com/vbr/Can someone please help me understand how to fill data into the tool ?thank you so muchBest Regards,Davide

Hallo zusammen!Ich habe ein Problem mit einem Linux PC, den ich per Veeam auf eine an eine Fritzbox angeschlossene Festplatte sichern möchte.Es handelt sich hier um ein CentOS 7, die Applikation erlaubt leider nichts neueres. Die Kernelversion ist 3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64. Aufgrund dessen ist es nur möglich das Ziellaufwerk per CIFS 1.0 einzubinden.Ich habe also ein Netwerkshare im CentOS eingerichte, welches per CIFS 1 auf die USB-HDD an der Fritzbox verweist.Im Backup-Job habe ich die Destination ”Local” angegeben mit der Location auf das gemountete Netzlaufwerk.Das initiale Fullbackup läuft auch aber jeder weitere Start des Backup-Jobs bringt den Fehler:      04:30:16         [error] Failed to perform backup      04:30:16         [error] Input/output error      04:30:16         [error] POSIX: Failed to read data from the file [/Fritz-Server/Intenso-USB3-0device-01/Datensicherung/edomi Edomi-Veeam/Edomi-Veeam.vbm]      04:30:16         [error] Unable to read data from file      04:30:16

I performed a full backup  on one of the Severs via Veeam Standalone backup agent. I want to test if that “full backup” is an accurate one.So, what I would like to do it restore that “full backup” on a different VM or a Windows Server. So I can compare. Is it possible?

Recently, I am playing around TCE(Tanzu Community Edition) 0.10 in my homelab. I found something interesting and would like to share my findings here.The environment is like below:vSphere vCenter: 7.0.3ESXi: 7.0.3TCE: 0.10Kubernetes : v1.21.5+vmware.1vSphere CSI: csi.vsphere.vmware.comk10: 4.5.10/4.5.11Location profile: Minio S3/VBR v11aThe backup policy :So that the policy will keep 1 daily snapshot in vSphere FCD. I can see the snapshot vmdk from the datastore after successful policy runs.I can also do a restore job from my Minio S3. The restore job seems to work fine. But if I restore it into the original namespace and the original application is still existing, I may get an alarm from the vSphere side.The error message is “A specified parameter was not correct: id Cannot be performed on FCD with snapshots.”The reason for this alarm is k10 kicks off a pvc deletion task from Kubernetes side and Kubernetes passes it to vSphere directly.  Investigating another issue where 2 VM’s have GPU’s thus VMware will not allow a snapshot of the VM’s. I am sure this question has been asked before, how can I backup these VM’s? They are running on vSphere 6.7 and the machines are Red Hat Linux 8 using an NVIDIA GPU. Also have a question about the jobs. All the VM’s were added using the vCenter server at the top level. So when these VM’s fail it seems to me the entire job get’s killed. These 2 VM’s fail, then I get a message all VM’s have been queued for processing and then a job error/failure message and it ends.

Hey guys,If I have deployed two backup servers in my environment and those servers are backing up the same workload, will it result a failure in the jobs of any backup server?

Hi, I would like to confirm if the Snapshot-based retention keep the full backup and only delete the incremental snapshots according to the retention policy (years, days, etc.). I need to do an incremental backup job like VBR, to keep only 2 months of incrementals. Thanks, Omar De Souza.

Every other database in our enterprise is being backed up except for the VeeamBackup database.  So, my question is - Should I run a native SQL backup on it? We have been running Veeam Backup & Replication (Version 11) for a few months now. It has been backing up our VMs and SQL databases except for that one.  I looked in the job and there’s no reason (e.g., exclusions) listed for omitting this database.  I logged a ticket with the HelpDesk but have not heard back from them yet. Have others noticed this problem?  If so, how did you address it?Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I am new to Veeam and trying to test Immutability. Had a server get updated to a new version of Windows Server. Is a new full backup necessary? Will Veeam run one automatically if it is?

Hello,I’m testing Kasten 4.5.8 on a RKE environment 1.21.9 , during the execution of a policy with a Kanister action (PostgreSQL logical backup) if i try to export the backup to both Veeam Backup repository and minIO, i get this error:  Job failed to be executed Failed to copy artifacts Failed to get or add Repository artifact [POST /artifacts:getOrAdd][400] getOrAddArtifactBadRequest &{Message:Bad Request. Cause: Invalid Artifact: Repository Location store must be set.} If i run the backup policy with only minIO as target, everything works as expected, Instead if i try to run the policy adding the Veeam Backup Repository, i get the error as above.as the same, if I delete the Blueprint and I try to export the backup to both minIO and Veeam backup repository, everything works as expected.I’m wondering if Kasten is trying to upload the Kanister artifact on the Veeam Backup Repository,If true, it seems very strange by the moment we have defined a minIO object storage for the Kanister

I’ve seen this error message in the forums multiple times.From what I’ve read, there is a non-public hotfix available.The weird thing is, the backup copy was working fine until the customer swapped USB drives.I thought maybe the hotfix has been integrated into B&R 11a already, so I tried installing that today. That gets me a different error, also apparently a well known one: VBRCatalog is not a valid short file name.What I’ve tried:Setting the registry key for the Catalog Path, but the path already was correct. Haven’t installed any upgrades in the last 3 months. Still running version 11.0.0.837, but from what I saw during the upgrade, VBR Catalog is still version 10.0.1.4854.Any idea what I could still try? 

Hi everyone!I am testing Kasten K10 v4.5.8 on my rancher cluster v1.21.9-rancher1, it is installed in air gapped mode with the flag global.airgapped.repository. I am doing some tests and I am wondering if it’s possible create a policy to snapshotting PVs and to perform a blueprint for logical backup.I have made some tests and what I have seen is that:- when I execute a policy for one application (namespace) and I have annotated the associated workload (StatefulSet/Deployment) with a kanister blueprint, as output artifact I get only the kanister and I don’t have a PV Snapshot;- when I execute a policy for one application (namespace) and I have not annotated the associated workload (StatefulSet/Deployment) with a kanister blueprint, as output artifact I get only the PV Snapshot;Maybe the snapshot of PV and the logical backup with kanister blueprint are mutually exclusive?Can I create a policy that returns both type of artifacts?Many thanks for support!

Hey guys,I read in veeam helpcenter document that for external repository the backups are created by veeam backup appliance of cloud. Can't the backups in the repository be of another backup software that is not of veeam?

Hey guys, I have a customer who has deployed veeam backup in two locations for backing up their workloads. Both veeam servers were on a different version(v11a and v11). A month ago the server running v11 ran into a issue and was cleared and I performed a patch update to make sure that they don’t run into that issue. This week we wanted to run a veeam cdp on v11a but the target server we tried to add issued a warning saying the target machine actively refused it. Does the patch update in v11 has something to do with it because this patch update has cdp support for vsphere or is it because of an issue from vmware?

There is File share server having volume X shared with RDS to keep the User Profile Disks (UPD). We want to backup the UPDs so planning to add the file share server in Veeam B&R as file server & create a backup job to backup volume X.Question 1→ If a user is logged-in to session host, meaning the UPD (VHDx file) of that user is mounted from the file share server to session host & same time the backup job run to backup volume X. Will there be problem with the VHDx, which is mounted to session host?Question2 → What is best way to backup File share server having UPDs of RDS ?

Good morning I wanted information.I have a vmware environment and with veaam I backup the VMs.I wanted to know how I can remove an esx host from veeam licenses and thus freeing 2 sockets assign the license to another esx host. attached in file 1 I want to revoke socket for 172.40.0.14 and I want to assign it to another esx host that is managed by the same vcenter. kind regards 

I took a snapshot of a namespace and restored it but I can't see any action on Kasten. And we also facing the error when taking snapshots of some namespaces like "Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'value')". Please assist, I would appreciate your assistance.
