I ask about experiences with Veeam and HPE StoreOnce deduplication source-side, if they know how to configure it.

Cannot auto-update from 5.0.3.4708 because the digital signature of the downloaded update file is invalid!This is happening on three personal computers at two different locations.I had to download the update from the website and manually update.Not a big deal but what is up the the auto-update utility?  

Hi All,I have been using BR for many years and backup (with ease) 30 servers and 110Tb of files via the network. Servers to disk then tape and the 110TB direct to tape (twin LTO8’s)The 110Tb system is a VM that I do not backup - too big (and in Veeam format), so I only back up the files 50Tb and 60Tb drives as two jobs. Its monthly weekend work so no big hassle (with daily increments). Working well.(I back the files not the VM as it would need another 110Tb to restore to - which I dont have and if I wanted a file or folder I would have to restore the whole VM etc + time   110Tb on Dual LTO 8 still is 35 hrs). Add to that I dont have 100Tb Veeam Repo size either ….With the licence changes (based on 500Gb per licence ..this is now becomes cost ineffective ...approx. addition 190 or so instance licences required on top of the 40 I have). Hi all,i recently did an upgrade on a customer site to V12. Within our legacy Backup Copy jobs, i could select the “Objects to process” by a VMware vSphere Tag, per example by “business-critical”.Within a new Backup Copy Job (both periodic and immediate), i have only the option to add Objects by “From backups” and “From jobs”.With tags, we had the option to filter the VMs that are processed very dynamically.Am i the only one, who is missing this feature?  screenshot for example:  thanks and best regardsMarkus

 I had M365 backups working flawlessly and then needed to switch repositories. Somewhere in there, something broke. So I ended up removing the repo, removing Veeam M365 backup, cleaning up all app residue and re-installing from scratch, since this was a new, small instance and I just wanted it to be clean.Now, every time I try to run a backup against the same recreated Org, the job will connect to the org, start resolving the objects, it finds the objects to backup but never actually receives any data. Shortly thereafter (30 seconds or so), the proxy service crashes and the portal shows status “disconnected” and Details “Job was interrupted”.I have even tried putting it on a different VM and the same behavior persists. The only element that I haven’t recreated is the O365 implementation. I have also recreated the Azure apps/certs each time as well.The logs don’t seem to show much. I can’t see replicaset workloads in K10 dashboard which are in a namespace in my cluster. But it displays all other workloads (StatefulSets, Deployments).Any thoughts ?Thank you.

I have two NVMe SSD-s. One has Windows 10 installed, the other one has Linux Mint 21.1. We’re trying to do a rolling OS upgrade of two physical servers in a Window Failover Cluster. The roles/resources are two Storage Space disks holding >20Tb of data each. When we add a new node to the cluster, Veeam is insisting on a Full backup of each shared disk, which is not ideal. According to documentation at the link below, this appears to be “by design” but this is very painful and our only option is to significantly expand the size of our backup target. Is there any way to skip this full backup requirement? We do weekly synthetic fulls, so I added an additional one to the schedule but it still insisted on an actual full, not synthetic. From a technical standpoint, I could understand needing to reset or ignore CBT and do a scan of the whole disk, but this is the only backup software I’ve used that arbitrarily requires a full backup when cluster node changes happen. Does this affect other cluster workloads like SQL or VMs? I had planned on moving

Hi Folks, I have someone who ran out of space on their Linux immutable repo, they are asking to remove immutability on the fs (chatter -i) as root. I am wondering what Veeam DB will think? and what other issues might arise. They seem to say they have done it before then just rescanned the repo? 

In the blog post below it states the sources that support the backup of Direct to Object but do all of these also support the restore of the data Direct from Object without having to go through a Gateway server or Proxy?  Specifically when S3-compatible storage is being utilised.Virtual machines backup (VMware,HyperV,AHV...) Hi Veeam Community!We are looking to migrate our backups from a standard repository to an SOBR in order to utilise Wasabi storage for capacity tier. We current have backups jobs storing to local storage repository with 30 day retention, with copy jobs to a another backup repository at one of our other sites for offsite/archival backup purposes. Local repository is around 30TB and ‘offsite/archive’ repository is around 100TB. Ideally we would like to move the primary repository to performance tier of an SOBR and remote repository to capacity tier. Is this a supported migration, or will the backup copy job part cause us issues? Ideally we would prefer not to have to create new jobs, and maintain backup history. We are running B&R V12. Any insight or tips on how to achieve the above would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!Cameron

Hello guys,A quick question about the upgrade process for a periodic backup copy job.I have a backup copy job to a NAS repository with Per-Vm option set. To upgrade the chain I have to create a new job and map the backup, during mapping Veeam will synthesize full backup from the current backup and build a per-vm chains for every object.In the case where the repository it’s not a ReFS/XFS partition, Veeam will recreate a Full Backup and I must have enough space on the disk partition right?

For a hardware server (no vmware) I use the Agent for Windows and backup to a local NAS. I added a cloud backup job to Wasabi which works but I noticed it disabled the schedule to the local NAS. I turned it back on and made sure the times do not overlap. Is that the only way to have a local and cloud copy with the Agent, two separate jobs? I like local for speed when restoring, cloud is only in case of disaster...

We are looking to install Enterprise Manager and was wondering where the best place was to install it.  We have one VBR server with less than 100 instances to backup.  I have a Server setup for Orchestrator, can I put it on the same Server, or should I stand up a new separate one?

i would like to know that, can we make multiple veeam servers with one backup repository only.scenario :I have 3 data centers with installed veeam server on each site and i want to backup all of my workload such as VM and physical server in data centers to DR directly without putting any backup repository on data centers

Hi Folks, Someone told me that they tested Rocky Linux versus Ubuntu (most likely 20.04) acting as a Veeam repository and there were significant performance differences between them with Rocky linux seriously outperforming Ubuntu. I don’t have any other details like (test environment, amount of data etc etc) but I personally find this hard to believe but wanted to know what everyone else thought. First off Rocky Linux is a spin off Redhat base distro that was created or gained much more popularity with the demise of Centos. I see Veeam themselves are always using examples with Ubuntu so that must mean something 😃.I am not getting involved in the old Distro wars of years past, i.e. (Debian vs Slackware vs Redhat) etc just want to know people’s genuine thoughts and experience.
