Hello all,One of my customers has two node SQL DB cluster using VMware RDM. Customer wants to replicate this using the Veeam Backup and Replication. Is it possible to replicate this RDM?what is the process for this ? Thanks you
I’m running Veeam v12 and performing some restore tests via AD explorer. When I try and restore object to the domain (this is another domain we are backing up, not the domain the Veeam server is connected to), the credential window appears. Enter that but always get error box “The supplied credential is invalid”here is the extract from the veeam log file:Connecting to domain controller rd.domain.org (port: 389, user: RD\serviceusername)…Error: The supplied credential is invalidAny help would be welcome, thanks.
When I using Veeam explorer to restore mailbox items with attachments to a user’s mailbox on On- premise Exchange Server the restore job fail with the below error:"Failed to create items. The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. Unable to write data to the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."Any ideas?
Happy Friday everyone! I’m back for another Fun Friday question: What do you use to lab/test/play with technology? Whether you’ve just got a preferred cloud provider, live on the “hands on labs” of a particular vendor, or have a substation in your garden powering a giant datacentre in your basement, I wanna hear it! I’ve currently got a 48 Port 1Gbps PoE switch with 6x 10Gbps uplinks, 2x HPE quad core servers with 32GB RAM each running ESXi and if I need to overflow I’ve got VMware workstation on my quad core 32GB PC, all sat under my desk! (#toasty for the winter)
hiI first created local users and made them members of the portal administratorI removed the enterprise manager server from the domain and now it works as a workgroup. Now I have the Error of invalid username or passwordDoes anyone have a solution?
For security reasons, our backup proxies should not be domain servers. Can anyone tell me if and how I can add a non-domain server as a backup proxy? Both the server and the proxy are VMs and in the same networks.
I’d like to install a second VBR Enterprise Plus server (different catalog) to my secondary site for backing up servers at that location. Question is, can I use my existing license on it and have both VBRs running at the same time?I have a 30 instances license.
I am trying to write a playbook that takes a final backup of an exiting employees OneDrive and Exchange Mailbox. I can’t get past getting an authentication token.
Hi Everyone, I just created an immutable repository using Azure Blob storage and connected to it using a Veeam 12 B&R client on Windows.I was hoping to create a File Share job to send a small set of data to the immutable repository but this doesn’t seem to be an option as when I do a new file share job the immutable repository is not available to select.Have I maybe missed something when configuring my Blob or Repo or is this just not possible? Thanks.
Hey guys, I have a question. In a windows system with MySQL database, if I install veeam agent for windows, will I able to backup MySql database?
Hi team:I have a problem with 2 hyper-v hosts that I added to the veeam backup. In 1 the host IP had been changed. The josbs were removed and created from scratch. Now, when executing the job, the message "Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: On-host proxy [<Hiper-V name>] requires upgrade before it can be used." appears. I have a rscan over then host and its finished with warnings. In the second hypervisor, this was added directly with the name, but when executing the job, the message "Failed to connect to endpoint <vbr-server>:2500" appears. An error occurred during the connection attempt as the connected party did not respond properly after a period of time".How can i solve this?It should be said that I do not have a defined proxy and it is automatic.Greetings,

Hi at all,We configured a backup for SQL AAG with Veeam plugin and all work fine, but now we need backup also the OLAP ( Online Analytical Processing ) component for our SQL AAG. Unfortunatly the OLAP is not discoverd by Veeam Plugin and thus I don’t know how setup It's backup with Veeam. Our goal would be configure an backup as did it for the others DB instances Any idea or experience to share ? CiaoLuca
I did an instant recovery of 2 servers, these servers were from a different location and restored to a new location. Instant recovery went fine. When I migrate to production it creates a whole new server with the name -migrate. Never had this issue doin this to the same location.
I have a customer that would like to have a way to save decommissioned server backups for 7 years. Their normal retention for backup jobs is 1 year. They use Data Domain for archive storage. When they decommission a server they would like to keep the backup for 7 years. My thought was to create a second repository on the Data Domain, move the backups there and then remove the server from the backup job. Would this effectively exclude those backups from retention policies?
Source backup job that runs daily (1:00AM to 4:00AM (3hrs long)) is 1 TB in size on Mondays and then short 100GB increments (1:00AM to 1:30AM) each day for the rest of the week.My WAN link to the Offsite can copy 500GB per day.Copy backup will transfer about 500 GB on Monday but automatically stops after Source job runs again -“Failed to process NAS backup copy task Error: Stopped by job SourceX”After Source job finishes, the Copy job automatically starts again. It copies another 500 GB and gets interrupted when the Source job runs again. My question is the copy job restarting each time or resuming from where it got interrupted? Today is Saturday and it hasn’t finished copy the large Monday restore point..
This is in regard to Veeam for Microsoft 365. Starting in June, Veeam for Microsoft 365 can no longer backup OneNote files (extension is .one) on the first attempt, but succeeds on the second. The reason is always "Item has been changed during the backup." I’m not seeing this with any other Microsoft Office type of document. The backup is through iLand/11:11 - I opened a ticket with their support and they're working with Veeam, however no luck so far. I can confirm the OneNote notebooks were open during the time of the backup, however this has never been an issue, where now we see it almost every day. As this is only .one files, I suspect a change was made to OneNote by Microsoft, or perhaps in the underlying database infrastructure of Microsoft 365. I'm willing to say the problem is in our tenant, but I can't imagine what change we made that would only affect .one files.Any help is appreciated.
I had the Windows Stand Alone version installed on my Windows 10 PC. The external hard drive it was backing up to failed. I purchased a new external hard drive and had to reinstall the Veeam software. Now backups fail indicating an application error. There are no other details and no log files are being created. Any suggestions on getting backups up and running again would be appreciated.
Hello forum,What are the “Best Practices” for configuring Sure Backup? On which configuration’s I should take care, how often do you recommend to do it etc.I have a dedicated physical server, a Tower server that will be in use for this purpose.12 Core Processor, 128 GB of RAM and around 10TB of free space. Our largest VM is more than 10TB but it will be okay if SureBackup can use instant restore etcPlease advise :)
I’m trying to add two Physical Computers (Linux 20.04) into inventory to backup. Both are in the same protection group. When adding the servers and clicking “Test Now” the test is successful. After applying the Protection Group changes, I briefly see both servers, then one always disappears. It seems random as to which server remains. I see different fingerprints for each server.I’ve tried using separate protection groups, but the issue is the same. I initially added the computers as part of a backup job creation, but when adding the second server and job, the job always failed. We have uninstalled the agent from both servers, and repeated the process, always with the same result.Veeam Enterprise Plus 11All the other backed up servers are VM’s.Any suggestions?
The below are just the thoughts that I've been having over the weekend now that Server 2025 has been announced. This is a long-term view that I believe after seeing how the industry has changed especially over the last 5 - 10 years. For those of us who like myself can remember the joy that DosKey and MemMaker brought to the DOS days, given the ways Windows Server evolved from Windows NT 3.5 days, I have to wonder Can Windows Server still evolve and innovate? With today's drive towards XaaS, serverless & micro-services, the infra landscape is starting to change. The rise of DevOps etc in the past few years shows how the landscape is changing. With this in mind, I wonder just how much can Windows Server continue to innovate.I also think that given the VMware/ Brodcam debacle if Microsoft can't seize a lion's share of the virtualization market to all the up-and-coming contenders then just how long will M/S continue to try and develop more features if the market share isn't there?
Curious if anyone else is running into issues when replying in the hub. I tend to get a lot of emails to catch up on topics and open tabs for them and then come back. However, there’s a been a lot lately where I open a tab, come back to it 15-30 minutes later, reply, but when I go to post my reply I get the below error. Usually refreshing the tab and then posting works, but in the meantime, I’ve lost what I typed. Curious if anyone else has been running into this issue as of late. Seems like the past week or so I’ve been having this issue.
Hi Everyone,Looking for advice. I have never really looked at Nutanix, except for at one time setting up Veeam with it but relying entirely on the Veeam docs. For those Nutanix superstars out there, what recommendations/tips/tricks do you have for learning it? Free resources? Community Edition?A lot of this I could google or go to their site but I find asking folks who have walked the path before saves you a lot of time not taking turns onto dead ends!
I have a virtual Backup Server and the Repository is a SMB NAS repository and I keep the backup there for 30 days, does it make sense to activate Synthetic Full Backup in such an environment or is forever incremental better?
