I have a 2 node ESXi 7.0.3 host setup and running Veeam v12 to backup 5 VMs to a NFS share (all production VMs exist on node A, NFS share is BSD VM on node B). The thought is that currently all production VMs can run on a single host and a backup copy of those can be created in a VM on host B. Each server has qty 2 10Gb network interfaces and I have connected both NICs in a port group and virtual switch along with creating a vmkernel interface on both hosts referencing the correct port group. After reconfiguring VMWare, I rescanned both ESXi hosts in Veeam and started the backup job. I am not convinced that the process is using the new 10Gb link between the 2 hosts for the transport process. What am I missing?
i enabled malware detection, the next day an alarm went up on the ubuntu Hardened backup repository server where immutable backups are saved. Backup jobs are " enable backup encryption" I suspect this is the cause of the false positive. Ran the secure scan Linux version -scanAV which with - YARAScan of 12.1 comes out clean .thanks to the invaluable guidance of @SteveHeart https://community.veeam.com/yara-and-script-library-67/vbr-securerestore-lnx-ps1-secure-restore-for-linux-vm-4617.\vbr-securerestore.ps1 -Mounthost myububtu -Scanhost immu-repo -Jobname D10-my-job -Keyfile .\public-key.key -AVScan.\vbr-securerestore.ps1 -HostToScan immu-repo -Jobname D10-my-job -Mounthost myububtu -LinuxUser my-user -Keyfile c:\cert\public-key.key -YARAScan Has this happened to anyone? For the moment I mark them as cleanThanks
Hi CommunityLooking for a DR option that would help us leverage Cloud storage. We have an on-prem VBR server with a pair of local repositories. We would like to backup a portion of our our Local VM infrastructure to S3 as part of our DR strategy and in the even of a DR incident leaving our primary data center offline we would like to be able to restore these instances from S3 to EC2. 2 problems i see instantly are the lack of access to the backup server if the primary datacenter is offline and the VMs communicating unless we use the same network segment on EC2 when we spin up the environment. Anyone see a way to do this short of replicating all the needed VMs to EC2 in an offline state?I believe this can be done with replication of the VMs to EC2 and the file shares to S3 Active and even orchestrated but I was hoping for a less expensive option as well.
Hi Team, Am facing issues uninstalling VeeamBackup&Replication_11.0.1.1261_20220302.Control panel does not show any Veeam program but when I search through cmd it shows below components. When I try to remove VBR Server is gives error unable to connect to SQL server. Value cannot be null. Parameter name TargetHost. Could you please help if anyone has faced and resolved this kind of issue.
hi veeam communityIn version 12.1, extraordinary security features are offered, one of which is Early Threat Detection.I want to know what is the out-of-band restore point that is marked in yellow in the picture and has anyone used this feature and has any experience about it?
Customer has 3TB (500GB x 6 CPU) from VUL. They need to add additional 2TB. Capacity is a lot cheaper then VUL but I don't know is this going to be stacked or is it doable to combine these licenses ?This is essentials version of the Veeam.
Hello together, how can I reverse a hardened Repository on Ubuntu 64 to a normal repository?Thank youRalph
Hello.I have an issue with booting from Recovery Media created with Windows Free Agent V6.The Server HPE DL345 GEn11 is running Windows Server 2022.When i try to boot from ILO Boot starts. I get the message Press any Key to boot. Than it immdiately switchs back to BIOS boot settings.Same Problem with booting from RUFUS Stick. On DL380 Gen10 with Intel CPU it works fine.Booting from Server 2022 ISO is working on the AMD EPYC is working fine.I created the Recovery Image twice. And added the USED Drivers as otopnal drivers too. No Changes.Booting the AMD from a different WRONG Recovery Image (Z2 Workstation) boots “Press any key to start ...) and freezes the Server at once. Any ideas?Greetings from Germany.
Good morning,What is needed for - Be individually certified at the commercial and technical level - Be an authorized reseller of the Veeam solutionSincerely
Hi everyone…I have deployed a new backup repository which is going to be replaced by the old one.By which Veeam features I should use to copy those backup data to the new storage?Maybe replication or backup copy job? Backup source is mixture of bear metal, VM, DB, app etc. in multiple OS
We are getting below error message when trying to run a manual backup via VEEAM Plugin.[ERROR] Failed to backup database ABC. Error: Stopping job session Anyone has any idea about the cause and fix?
Hello all, I have been looking in the forum but I have not found information. In my job we are using Nutanix objects, one of the buckets shows 450 TB of usage space on Nutanix, but when I review on veeam the backup software it only shows 90 TB. Is there an issue with this space not being reclaimed?, on a previous post, I found ReFS takes some time to free up space and show the proper amount.I hope you can shed some light on.
Hey Everyone,VMware vCenter Converter 6.6 Beta is out and it brings support for RHEL 8/9 and Ubuntu 22.04. But one of the newest features is the ability to convert powered on Nutanix AHV, Red Hat RHV and native KVM. More information…Sign up for the beta, sign up here. Then you can download it here.
i have a problem. if the job starts it will finally give me this error: Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FcReadFileEx': An unexpected network error occurred. Failed to read data from file and the file is on a synology NAS and i can just enter that device and also i can just make a network map to the directory where the files are.. but somehow veeam stops working allready for a week..network is checked.. and all is Ok and i can reach the volumes etc..i did restart the veeam server VM and also restarted the services but still not working..if i go to the backup reposority and do rescan on the backup locations it will give the same errors..I cant find here any info about the error i have and hope someone can help me.the error from the mail is:Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FcReadFileEx': An unexpected network error occurred. Failed to read data from file [\\172.16.xx.xxx\VeeamBackupRepository\Escrow\VEEAM-Backup\1 - B2D ALL Daily Escrow\1 - B2D ALL Daily Escrow.vbm].
Hi Community,We are using as AV solution Sentinel One. This Solution isn’t standard included in the AntivirusInfo.xml for Secure Restore/SureBackup. So I had to create my own entry, based on very little info and no list of error codes. It’s working but I don’t feel 100% safe as it wasn’t standard included or supported. During a recent Veeam On Tour it was brought to my attention, that using a different AV solution other then the one that’s active on your server bring an extra level of security/check. Now standard on this windows servers os Defender installed.Defender is also standard part of the AntivirusInfo.xml. We don’t want 2 AV solutions add the same time active on our systems. However if we could for example with SureBackup start a PS script that activate Defender at the start of the job and deactivates it again add the end of the task. This would be a great solution to me. Has anyone here this kind of solution in place and would like to share the PS?What about the AntivirusInfo.
Forgive me for this new discussion and please do delete if it is not the right place to ask. I am trying to do a bit of studying around my job currently and wanted to clarify a few points with Veeam (in the process of doing a small course). I'm getting very confused with the differences between forward incremental and reverse incremental backups and wondered if you could clarify. Am i correct in thinking when choosing forever forward incremental backup, that if there is no synthetic backup scheduled, then the first full backup is completed followed by incremental the days thereafter. Therefore, if you wanted to complete a full restore, you would need to restore that original full backup followed by every single incremental up to the date of the full restore? And if a full backup is done, the retention period is approx 6 months and there are no synthetic backups scheduled.. then if there is a day mid way through that the backup job fails, then this runs the risk of not being able to res
Hello,Regarding Forever Forward backups, is it necessary to create period full backups (either Active or Synthentic), or can you just go with the initial full backup and everything else is incremental? (I know it is probably at least RECOMMENDED to do periodic full backups, but let’s not worry about that for purposes of this post/question) If you were to go with just the initial full backup then leave the rest as incrementals, what happens if you have a corrupt/failed incremental backup in the chain, but need to do a restore of a file? Is Veeam able (and smart enough) to work around it? (i.e., if it has a failed or corrupt incremental backup, is Veeam smart enough to start the next backup based on the last good incremental and basically ignore the failed/corrupt one?) Thanks! :-)
hello, i would like to know, if I create CDP Policy on my veeam server, with RPO 10 Minutes, Short-term 36 Hours and long-term 24 Hours keep for 7 days. so it means that i will have 216 restore for short-term, with one full and rest are incremental and for the long-term, i will have 7 incremental.is it right ?
Build: 12.0.0.1420 We are unable to run a restore from a backup due to this error message. Restore type: Windows guest file restore. VM size is about 5TB.
We have an onpremise Veeam server that runs the following jobs:1. Backup to local storage (weekly full, daily incrementals)2. Copy job to Linux hardened repository (immutable)3. Copy job to Azure Blob cool storage (immutable)Now i would like to have the Azure monthly backups moved to archive tier. I'm assuming i have to use SOBR for this. The following question arise:i create a second immutable repository with longer immutability, say 1 year. After moving the full backup, will it calculate ‘initial backup date + 1 year’, or ‘SOBR copy date + 1 year’? do i need a new container for this or can i just create a folder within a container? if a backup is still immutable can it be moved to the archive tier? copying backups obviously generates a large amount of traffic. Download backup from one repository, upload to another. Is there something i can do to limit the amount of traffic and costs? what's the risk here? To move data the local Veeam server needs to have modify permissions in both th
Hi there.Need to review my backup configuration after adding a linux immutable box and a 10 TB vcc cloud space. 20 vms ( 15 windows server and 5 linux ). About 6 TB storage space (compressed). One backup a day at night. veeam server is a physical windows 2022 server box with local storage. Here is my idea:First backup job on the veeam server itself. Backup copy on a scale out repository based on the local linux immutable storage and vcc cloud storage.Any suggestion?thanks in advance,Max ( Italy)
hi, I would like to know that, can we directly restore to on-prem from S3 glacier (archiving tier) using SOBR ?
Is there a way to replicate VMware virtual machines to Azure?
hi, I have veeam server with perpetual enterprise socket base on VM and I would like to migrate my veeam server from VM to bare metal, so can I still use my perpetual enterprise socket base ?
Hi, I was working with older version of veeam long ago and I remember I never had any issues with it, currently I am trying to set a backup and restore solution and I’m evaluating veeam with our Ovirt Node 4.5.4 infrastructure.I did the setup step by step and later installed the RHV plugin and connected to the engine and got the proxy vm up and running I can setup backup jobs and all is good until this point, I do get a warning during backup but it finishes anyway, here is the error I get :{VM-Name}: Image transfer URL is inaccessible: CURL error 6: Couldn't resolve host name, switching to the proxy URLI tried to restore an VM and I am now getting this error and task fails:10/18/2023 2:18:16 PM Error {VM-Name}: Unable to write data block.
