If I backup two Linux appliances (VMware ova) in different backup jobs which have the same SSH fingerprint name but different values so the backup jobs take it in turn to fail after I have trusted the untrusted SSH fingerprint.  They alternate between being trusted.Is there a way for Veeam to trust both or do I need to look at changing the name on one of the two appliances? 

Hi There, I deployed Oracle Plugin for Linux to use Oracle RMAN database backup but during the wizard in repository section it didn’t list all repos that I’ve got it only show the default veeam repo but the SMB share repo not shown in the list ! Did I miss something here in the configuration? Coz I want the backup to be stored in SMB share repo not the in the disk of the veeam server. Thank you

Hi,backup server is running 2x10Gbps NICs and it is in VLAN with Netapp iSCSI AFF device. I have also 1Gbps network card for management purpose.  Also these two network cards are in trunk so they are doing 20Gbps now (at least I think they are doing it :-) )Integration between Netapp and Veeam is configured using management ports of the Netapp which is in different VLAN reachable by this 1Gb NIC from backup server. So, I can see snapshots on Netapp but backup is being done slow (probably using 1Gb NIC). How to force Veeam to use these 10Gbps NICs instead of 1Gbps NIC? Is there a KB for this integration to read how to setup this?Thank you.

Hello! I’m using Veeam Agent for Windows 6.0.2.1090 (free edition) for my backups. I have it set to hibernate my PC after the backup is completed. However, I find that even though the wake + backup + hibernation is successful, the next time I wake the PC after a backup, shortly afterwards, it hibernates without me doing anything. I am trying to upgrade Veeam B&R Community Edition from v10 to v12.1 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 physical server. During the upgrade process System Configuration Check the result shows that Microsoft Powershell v5.1 requires a reboot, and the installation process will continue after reboot. After I reboot the installation process begins again from the beginning, resulting in the same message. So this has created a loop. I manually installed Powershell 7.1 but it appears the OS considers this a separate version from the original Powershell 4 version. So it doesn’t appear that the B&R installer realizes PS 7.1 is installed. How do I get around this installation loop? I have tried uninstalling B&R and starting from scratch, but the same issue appears. TIA

Backing up the OS on a W10 Pro system, to USB RDX cartridge. Backs up the C drive, WinRETools, then hangs backing up a 10.9GB restore partition at 10.8. Been going for over an hour and a half this try. Tried letting it go overnight and it stopped with a red x. Also tried backing up just a 10GB Folder and it completed and then said there was no restore point when I tried to “mount” the backup to restore a file. These were just test runs, will probably just wait and try again when there is another version. Not sure if anyone else had seen such.

Hello to all,It’s me again with the new topic. 😁I have question about Retention Policy.How the chain is going to be deleted?As I try to figure out it should be when the file is created and from that day it will be available before the retention policy in my case “14” days is over.On the 15th day it will be erased or?This is my current settings: I have active full backups on the first Friday.We are doing full backups on Friday and the rest is incremental.Can someone give me more information on retention policy and also on the Synthetic full backups periodically.Thank’s to all the forum users.Probably the best forum in my opinion.  

Dear All,Our Veeam backup version is 12.0.0.1420 P23230718 and Veeam Agent version is 6.0.2. we want to  veeam bare metal recovery but see the error “Saving restore logs Error: Error in the application”, please advise and thank you 

How to retain VMs brought up using VDRO longer than 7 days?In order for us to retain the VMs past 7 days, we decided to basically stop Veeam services on our VDRO server. Needless to say, our VDRO is inoperable at this state. We’d like to bring it up and not affect the VMs that were created. So I think, this means that we need to modify entries in the VDRO database to “cleanly” remove this from VDRO but un-touch on the vSphere side. We can rename the objects in vSphere but not sure if this would work since VDRO may be using object IDs in its DB instead of object name.  The VM involves is a big DB and just running a DB check took about a week and after this a patch needs to be applied necessitating another check that is why we need it longer than 7 days.  Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. I have also opened a low sev ticket with support and will share what they recommend.  

Is there a way to set/adjust  the spacing on the Veeam O365 job reports?  Seems like a lot of unnecessary word wrapping going on.

Hi, I recently updated vcentre and had to create a new backup task as the old one was no longer working. However, I noticed that veeam backup created many orphan files as a result of each backup and I have to go to vcentre to consolidate these backup.  The files are named as MyVM-000001-ctk.vmdk, MyVM-000001.vmdk and it goes on for a while till in my case, 000046. I also note that there was some information displayed - “MyVM has stuck VM snapshot, will attempt to consolidate periodically” I am on veeam backup and replication version 11. This was working well previously before the vcentre upgrade.  Thanks in advance.

hello,I’m a little bit confused about application aware processing on veeam, what is it for actually  ?, for example, if I have database (MS.SQL) on my source backup, do I have to enable AAP on it , so I can also backup & restore that database. or do I have to install plug-in on source backup ? Thank You

Hello, I am new to using Veeam and in my small laboratory I am testing rotating disks :I have a retention policy of 21 and I have 3 disks (one per week) : If I understand correctly it would be 7 per disk The question is: if I use Forever Forward Incremental when the disk already has 7 points and I connect it again, will it merge the old incremental and save only full backup? Thanks

Hello Community,as part of a hardware refresh project project for a new customer, we are planning on creating a separate /24 VLAN subnet behind the firewall in order to better segment and protect the Production vSphere environment, the new soon to come vSphere DR cluster as well as the Veeam backup fabric as they currently reside in the same flat VLAN and IP subnet where all clients and servers reside (as depicted below):====================================================================================================Currently the Veeam Backup server/primary backup repository is a physical Windows server running Windows Server 2019 with 50TB of local storage. We are planning on moving the Veeam Backup Server to a new dedicated VM hosted on the soon to come vSphere DR cluster and, at the same time, repurpose the primary backup repository hardware into a Veeam Hardened Repository.The main concern here are the 60 or so client computers with the Veeam Agent for Windows. We have a job configured in Veeam Plug-in for Rman, version 12, and retention is not working. With this Plugin, we configure everything from the Veeam console, I attach images. The retention is 7 days, the repository is a disk (not tape), a level 0 backup runs on Tuesdays and differential every day. The jobs finish fine, without alerts, but on the seventh day nothing is deleted. Question: do I have to configure something else in Rman? We did not find any more Rman options when configuring the Plugin from the Veeam console. Thank you

I’m migrating my Veeam install to new brand new VM. The original Veeam server is Windows 2019 running Veeam B & R & Veeam ONE. The original install was v11 that was upgraded to v12, currently using MSSQL.The new instance Windows 2022 running a fresh install of only Veeam B & R using Postgres.I’m going through the steps in the Veeam B&R Configuration Restore Wizard when I run into the this error:SSPI authentication failed for user “HOSTNAME\Administrator” I’m using Windows authentication for the Postgres credentials. Has anyone run into a solution for this error?
