Can someone help me with info on how Veeam processes parallel VMDK’s? Does it uses VDDK Libraries or bypasses VDDK and uses its own libraries? I have seen few backup solutions still struggling to achieve this parallel processing.
a)I have a VBR 12 running on Postgre DBb)I am setting up another VBR and this time I dont want to use the default Postgre DB.Hence I an selecting Miceosoft SQL Server but its asking me to create the SQL Instance first. Am I supposed to install SQL Full Blown Instance or SQL Express Instance?
Sadly, as my friend @Scott , I wont be able to attend this year,my family will grow and we are expecting this to happen at the end of July, so too risky.Im very happy and surprised about all Im seeng with the Virtual Event,Isnt like in person, Miami was a blast and a dream! but Hopefully I will catch the things that cut my eye, and engage with y’all and enjoy the presentation.I will miss the hallway talks, brekfasts, swimming pool and parties… OMG, Im gonna stop writing or I will start to cry. Thanks for preparing all this Virtual experience for the ones not allowed to attend in person. To me, Im still in love with the “Direct to S3” backup, Now the implementations in my case turn the table to be more flexible with Branches and ROBO offices, same with Home VIP users with the Agent. The Cyber and Malware features are more than welcome!Im very exited and looking forward to the “big announcements” Lets see what the future brings to the Veeamers world!have a great VeeamOn.cheers.
Hello, Thanks, I cannot install latest VBRso this is what happened. For years, at VBR 11 installed and worked great. thanks veeam! Now, tried to update to latest 12.1. i downloaded .iso and checked md5 hash. That update failed, complained could not uninstall veeam for linux. I tried again to update and this time, instead of being asked to upgrade, i was only given option to Install. I tried to install, but VBR complains about seen belowSo I tried to manually remove VBR using:https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/how-to-uninstall-v12-community-edition-completely-t89675.htmlhttps://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/how-to-uninstall-v12-community-edition-completely-t89675.html But, when i try to install, I still get that same error message, as shown above.here is the contents of VbrSuite_26_05_2024_10_32_34.log[26.05.2024 10:32:34][INFO] Configuration file: G:\Setup\VBRSettings.xml[26.05.2024 10:32:34][INFO] Engine is starting...[26.05.2024 10:32:34][INFO] Creatin
We have Veeam Data platform enterprise plus premium license and need to install license file on physical laptop client. but no luck. we tried to install same license file on physical laptop. but no luck. Please suggest.
Hey all,I have installed veeam backup in GCP and in the policies I have created, both the snapshot and the backup are working (attached images).now i would like to clone this backup that veeam has generated, in a new instance of GCP, but i don't see how to do it.the idea is not to use the veeam windows backup (VBR) or another system, but to do it from GCP.take the structure that veeam has created when leaving the backup and restore or clone the machine in GCP.I don't see the option to do it. maybe it is not possible. someone help me to clarify this issue.I have consulted articles like the ones below, but they do not help me:If it is not possible to do it as I indicate, and I have to use VBR as a prerequisite, what is the point.I mean, is it essential to use it? is it mandatory to have VBR installed and there is no other way? Thanks in advance.
Hi all… greetings…I am wondering if expiry date can be shown in the Veeam GUI under backup properties? With using Dell DataDomain immutable repo
In case you missed it:Veeam has issued an enhanced update to address a critical vulnerability in Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC).Although our initial patch effectively addressed the primary concern, a subsequent review identified an area for further improvement. To ensure comprehensive protection, we swiftly developed and released a refined patch that fully mitigates the issue. We're confident this updated version reinforces the security of Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) and demonstrates our commitment to continually strengthening our response measures. Knowledge Base article https://www.veeam.com/kb4575 has been updated detailing the issues. So the latest build number now is 8.0.0.19552 which supersedes 8.0.0.19236
adding hyper-v host failed with "invalid credentials" noting that we don't have domain and the Veeam and Hyper-V are on the same subnet.
Hi Team,Actually, we restored one VM through instance recovery and it’s completed successfully, but one NFS datastore mounted on vCenter datastore. why? and one more thing if it is mount then after should be delete automatically? why it is deleted manually?is there any option available to avoid mounting or delete automatically.
Hi Folks, What has your object storage journey with Veeam been like and at what stage are you at now?I started using S3 compatible the minute Veeam introduced it as capacity tier for Scaleout repos. I leveraged a 4 node Docker Swarm cluster with Minio. I chose Docker Swarm at the time as Minio advised to use containers for multitenancy and mentioned Kubernetes. I arrogantly thought I would read up over the weekend and on Monday get it going. That was not the case to say the least. Docker Swarm was much simpler and I eventually went with that. The solution worked well but my lack of deep understanding put some restraints on what I could do, not to mention that Docker Swarm, while being a solid solution did not have the incredible fine tuning capabilities that Kubernetes has.Since then it has been all Kubernetes and S3 never far behind. It got to the point where I simply had to defect to the S3 compatible side of the force completely 😁. So what was your journey, what are you using. What
Hi folks,We have Veeam B&R and a hardened repo for all our backup jobs. Repo is configured to allow 8 concurrent tasks. We run a SAP backup job every 10 minutes. When SAP backup runs while there is any other job running that uses all the connections to the repo, the SAP job fails. I’ts unable to wait for the repo to have any ‘channel’ available as other jobs do.Is there any setting to tell the SAP job to wait until there is any available connection to the repo? Thanks in advance
Hello All, I have a TAPE job that works well until one day is skipped, for example, due to a holiday. In such cases, it tries to back up the missed days as well, but then it no longer fits on the tape. Currently, there are 10 processes in the TAPE job, but if a day is skipped, it becomes 20 processes, and if two days are skipped, it becomes 30 processes.I can only fix it by deleting the TAPE job and creating a new one. This again only works well until a day is skipped. I am using the following: Veeam Backup and Replication 12.1.1.56, TAPE: IBM ULT3580-HH6 SCSIAny idea? Thanks,
Hi all. The situation is a little unusual, in our infrastructure there is a working version of Veeam Backup & Replication 11 running on a virtual machine with Windows Server 2019 Standard, everything is fine with it. But recently we launched a spare physical server in the data center, I exported a virtual machine with Veeam there, and now it does not start.Of the 16 Veeam services, 3 cannot start - “Veeam Backup Service”, “Veeam Broker Service” and “Veeam CDP Coordinator Service”, so the management console does not start. Error 1064 “An exception occured in the service when handling the control request”.Please help me understand what’s going on, this is a complete copy of a virtual machine, just running on a different physical host, what’s the problem?
Does Veeam allows to delete a specific Restore Point via GUI? I want to delete an oldest full backup. Can I directly delete it from the physical location? I reckon this is not going to corrupt my backup chain as I already have another full backup.
Hi Everyone, If you are attending VeeamON and are free on Tuesday at 3:45, you are welcome to come by a session I am taking part in with Karinne Bessette Moderating and Drew Schlussel from Wasabi and Gregory Tellone from CloudIBR on Object Storage:Object Storage is Ready for the Prime TimeI want to also take this opportunity to thank @Rick Vanover for getting more Community/Technical sessions at VeeamON. I know some folks are worried about the future of IT communities but believe me with leaders like Rick around IT communities are here to stay!
Sad I can’t attend in person this year but it’s just too busy. Work with people retiring as well as training new staff, and after hours it seems to be weddings, moving to a new house, and gigs with the band leaving little time for much else. I’ll attend virtually this year. Really looking forward to hearing about the potential of a future release, and some of the fine tuning on the malware detection. Veeam is already such a feature rich solid product that I can’t even think of the next features they will integrate. I’m looking forward to seeing my Veeam friends post’s and photos from the event. Miami last year was a blast. Hopefully we are all fortunate and lucky enough to see each other in a few months.
Hi, I am designing the replacement architecture for our Veeam Backup environment and need some help understanding where the traffic flows when using hardened repositories in a SOBR. Our current environment we have the backup server at a remote location with direct attach storage and a backup proxy at our data center with direct attach storage. Each day incremental backups run at the datacenter writing backups to the backup proxy which are then copied to the backup server at the remote location. Each month synthetic full backups are created at the remote location. The hardware is end of life and needs to be replaced. I would like to keep the backup server and backup proxy and utilize hardened Linux repositories at both sites. The primary backups would be configured with a 14 day retention period and incremental backup mode. The backup copy location would consist of 3 Linux servers with 28 8TB SSDs set up as hardened Linux repositories. What I need to understand is when synthe

I just got all of our systems upgraded to v12. With that said, I have two clients using hardened repo’s and two different people set them up, neither of them were me, and the system I’m working on now - the engineer that set that up left the company and moved on a couple months ago. I planned on dipping into these a while ago but never had the time and am now thrust into it. And my linux skills are still fairly basic, maybe intermediate at best.So here’s what I have:The configuration, not that I think it matters, but is a Ubuntu VM running on a Synology NAS with a virtual disk mounted to the VM. I upgraded from v11 to v12 but the repository became unavailable during this process. Single-use credentials are in place and I think I’ve mostly got around the learning curve on this, but can’t quite make connections on things. There are two accounts, I’ll call them “repouser” and “admin”. Repouser is the account that should have permissions to the repo at /mnt/veeamrepo/backups. Admin i
Hey Folks.Veeam 12.1.2 is now available for download. Check out the KB Article to check out all the improvements and features as well as the bits.
Perhaps the Service Provider section of the R&D Forums is a better place to ask, but I figured I’d check here to see if anyone has an easy button for resetting MFA on an AD login specified by AD group for an Admin in the Service Provider Console. I reloaded my phone and the Duo app didn’t import my 3rd party MFA logins. Fortunately, I have other admin logins I can use.So far what I’ve gotten is that you have to apparently use the REST API (which seems silly to me if that’s the case, feature request coming up…..) because the user only exists in an AD group that was specified for access. While I’m not great with API’s, the the Swagger UI should make things easier. That said, I haven’t yet figured out how to authenticate with Swagger using an account that has MFA enabled. I might be able to get it once I get past that hump. I was hoping that if I disabled the MFA requirements, I could log in and reset MFA from the user access, but it appears to prompt for MFA once enrolled even if
I had a few questions about backup from onsite computers to the cloud. I am currently using the community edition of veeam backup and replication. The backups are currently going to onsite storage. Does the community edition has the capability to backup to cloud storage? If so how? Is there any difference between the community edition and the essential edition aside from the number of workloads they can support? I see that veeam supports backups to AWS, Azure, and Google. Does veeam support backing up to other cloud storage providers?
Actually, we are using tape infrastructure and want to take file level backup to tape. we tried to create file to tape job, but no luck. we reflected only Veeam server in source option. why does not show virtual infra in source tab or any other system/ server? No need backup of Veeam serverHow to take virtual infra file level backup on tape? Please suggest
