I am working on a Veeam DR doc. I would like to be able to bring up the DR environment in a controlled manner to the point of only enabling the jobs I want to enable. I know it can be easily done by simply right clicking and disabling the jobs or by PowerShell script. My concern is jobs kicking off as soon as the DR instance is up and not being able to disable them before they start failing. Because before anything we need to validate the environment, proxies, repositories, etc. Simply failing over the prod system will mean ALL the services and processes will start when the system boots. The feedback I received from support is to stop the Veeam Backup Service. However, from what I understand I do not have the ability to disable jobs while the Veeam Backup Service is offline. Is there a scheduler service that can be stopped? Ideally, at least for the DR test, we would like to keep jobs from running yet be able to restore systems. While an actual failover is something that should occur
The malware detection consistently flags the same files with known malware extensions as suspicious. Despite marking the servers clean multiple times, the detections persist. Is this behavior intended or possibly a bug?
I have a device that has Veeam for Windows installed. I can’t upgrade it as it fails and if I try to uninstall it from control panel it fails saying it can’t find the MSI. Is there an uninstall tool for Veeam?
Hello -To start with a short breakdown of our environment:We have three separate Veeam “instances” across our org. It works like this: Branch AVMWare instance with 8-10 servers both Windows and LinuxWindows server running Veeam B&RWindows server serving as proxyWindows server serving as repositoryRepo contains backups of the machines here Branch BVMWare instance with 15-20 servers both Windows and LinuxWindows server running Veeam B&R(3) Linux server serving as proxy(1) Linux server serving as repositoryRepo contains backups of the machines here Branch CVMWare instance with 4-6 servers both Windows and LinuxWindows server running Veeam B&RWindows server serving as proxy for Branch ALinux server serving as proxy for Branch BWindows server serving as repositoryRepo contains backup copies and replicas of VMs from Branch A and B On to the problem. Our third-party vulnerability scan started to flag all our proxies and repositories and Branch A and B as needing Linux OS updates
Hi community, Case number: 07501750After upgrading to Veeam BR 12.2.0.334 (I was on v11 before) my Surebackup Job stopped working with error:“Error: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: destination”I’m using “Advanced single-host” with two production networks and I have “Application Group” with single VM.I’ve tried recreating Virtual Lab, Application Group but the error still persists, it looks like it has problems with adding route? Value cannot be null.Parameter name: destination (System.ArgumentNullException)at Veeam.Backup.Common.CRouteUtilityItem..ctor(String destination, String netmask, String gateway) But routes are appearing when I put “route print” on windows cmd.Is this a bug or am I missing something in V12?
Congratulations @MatzeB , you are Blog of the Month September 2024 winner! 🐈🏆🎉Best, Madi
Hi all,I’m looking at the following guide I was recommended on one of my previous posts (great guide btw).Does anyone know the logic behind the assignment of the masquerade IP? I can’t seem to understand where Veeam pulls this from nor find any explanation as to the logic behind it.Many thanks in advance.
Backup job is set to 2 restore point and it has backup job (.vib) file created everyday. There is shortage of space and need to reduce backup jobs. If I choose the restore point it is picking up restore point for a month. Is there is a way to reduce the number of days of backup?
INTRODUCTION As you know, the latest version of Veeam Backup & Replication, that is 12.1.2.172, was released last May 21.Among the various new features and security patches, the aspect I would like to elaborate on is this:Security & Compliance AnalyzerA new backup infrastructure check was added to ensure that the PostgreSQL instance hosting the configuration database has been configured with the recommended settings. These settings can be applied with the Set-VBRPSQLDatabaseServerLimits cmdlet. This new check just verifies that the recommended settings for PosgreSQL are actually applied to our backup server. But what does it mean in detail? INFRASTRUCTURE CHECK DETAILSWe know that since version 12 of VBR, the database that is installed by default is PostgreSQL and no longer the Microsoft SQL Express. So when installing the product, if you choose to keep the default DB and have it installed during the wizard, Veeam will install PostgreSQL on the same VBR server.During this operatio
I am receiving the following error and backups are failing on an air-gapped system.Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint ‘PK_Backup_Model_GuestDatabaseToOibLinks’. Cannotinsert duplicate key in object ‘Database.table’. The duplicate key value is ‘long string of numbers’. The statement has been terminated. Is the only fix for this to rebuild the DB? TIA
Hi all,I have recently deployed Veeam Backup & Replication and have started to copy backup sets into Azure blob storage for archive purposes. I've been keeping an eye on the Azure costs which seem to be a bit higher than first anticipated. So far in the past 7 days I have pushed around 4TB into the storage account. I see total ingress for the past 7 days as 4.12TB and total egress as 83.24GB. The egress seems high for what should be just pushing data in and forgetting about it. Does anyone have any pointers on how to fine tune the copy job and storage repository? Does that amount of egress seem normal? My repository is configured to use cool blob storage and has vPower NFS enabled. The copy jobs are configured for Immediate copy, include tlogs, GFS retention, not to read the entire restore point from source backup instead of synthesising it, no backup files health check, and auto compression level.Any assistance on tuning this is greatly appreciated!
Hi Community, VBR server should not be part of the production domain—Unable to detect whether it should be considered important or not. How can we fix this? Is my VBR already in the production domain, or should I put it back on the workgroup?
Now I am learning some Backup & Recovery Solutions (from China). I list out the features comparison with Veeam for reference. Please let me know if I missed any core features for Veeam. Vinchin https://www.vinchin.com/Aishu https://www.aishu.cn/
Hi all, Running Veeam Backup and Replication V11 on an Enterprise license - we have been backing up to HPE StoreOnce repositories for nearly a year, but due to operational changes with more VM’s, additional encryption and retention requirements we are filling these up faster than anticipated (less de-dupe). We would like to move our older monthly/yearly backups to Azure storage for long term retention in order to free up space on the StoreOnce devices for our nightly/weekly backups and restores. Initial research suggests that creating a Scale-Out repository, adding the existing StoreOnce repository as the performance tier extant and a new Azure object storage container as the capacity tier extant is the way to go. The documentation confirms this will re-point all existing jobs to use the new scale-out repository when they next run and anything older than X days (whatever we set in the capacity tier option) will be automatically offloaded to the capacity tier. The questions I have are:

Hi all,A customer’s device is complete gone, but has daily full backups stored via CloudConnect in Wasabi. When we try to import the backups, it gives the message ‘No backups found’. Altough, the Cloud Connect server gives usage of the bucket and de job just ran fine. Any ideas how to import the backup in the Cloud Connect server to start the recovery ? The import of the backup doesn’t seem to find the backup chain….
Our customer are running Veeam and replication to protect EXSI 10 workload .They would like request the disaster recovery plan .We know the Acronis/Azure have the backup solution just install the agent in workload and destination is to cloud .When the disaster is coming we just turn on the workload in cloud then they start charging all the necessary like EC2.In Veeam have any solution similar like Acronis/Azure ?
Deployment Information:If Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager is installed on the same machine as Veeam Backup & Replication:On the Veeam Backup Server, close all open Veeam Backup & Replication Consoles, and ensure no processes named veeam.backup.shell.exe are running. Download the HOT Fix Below URL:https://www.veeam.com/kb4682Unzip the hotfix and run the hotfix installer.(veeam_backup_12.2.0.334_PrivateFix_TF812030.exe) Please plan accordingly reboot may be required after installing the hotfix.
under the reporting TAB You have the following two report templates. Under the saved reports lets say you created production Reports folder and you have to saved few reports on that folder. For safe side use this option go to download folder keep that file with you Why we keep this jason file with us if mistakenly delete We can import back that production Reports folder.
Hi, I have a question. I recently added an object storage repository (Cloudian) with an immutable retention period of 7 days. Then, I created a new backup job and pointed it to that repository, and I ran the backup. After the backup job completed, I checked the object files in Cloudian and looked at their retention period, and the result shows more than 7 days. Shouldn't it be exactly 7 days, not longer?Attached is the screenshot:Repository config for immutable days The date when the first backup started The object retention displayed in Cloudian Management The 'retain until' date should be 2024-11-14 if the retention is set to 7 days, but this is not what is happeningCan anyone explain how Veeam sets the immutable days for objects in object storage? Thanks for your answer and attention😊
In case you missed the annoucement, Microsoft have released more information on their upcoming server version called, Windows Server 2025.More info here:https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-server-insiders/announcing-windows-server-preview-build-26040/m-p/4040858 https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-server-news-and-best/introducing-windows-server-2025/ba-p/4026374If you want to give it a try, the Canary version can be downloaded after joining the Insiders Preview:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewserverAnyway, I thought I would try it out and trying installing Veeam B&R on it. I mean, why not? New server OS, and the first thing to go on there is Veeam? Let’s do it.Long story short, it was plain sailing and Veeam B&R installed successfully.Confimation screen of Veeam Backup & Replication 12.1 being installed successfully Veeam B&R Console with no jobs configuredUsual caveats apply if you are going to be testing it
Working with a customer to install the Veeam Tintri Intelliflash Plugin. We have installed plugin version 1.0.85. Per this KB it says it supports the following Tintri versions:Tintri IntelliFlash 3.9.2 Tintri IntelliFlash 3.10.1 or laterHere is the KB:https://www.veeam.com/kb3226The customer array is running version 4.5.1. After installing the plugin and trying to discover their Tintri array it errors out saying you need version 3.9.2 or higher on the array. I assuming 4.5.1 is higher than 3.9.2 so not sure why it won’t discover.Anyone else seen this and have a suggestion? Thanks…Dean
hi allwe try here to create for our Postgres Servers to create a backup job with the Veeam for Postgres WAL Feature, so the agentless Version, of storing the WAL Files in a Backup. But i get it not to work. I see bulent his video, i look that i make all Documentation Settings in our Postgres Instances, but it will not work. But we have one great difference. We dont use the linux standard installation of postgres. so no /etc/postgres is there. we use a automated installation of postgres with ansible, but in different directories. example. the software itself is in /u01/app/postgres/product. the data dir is in /u02/pgdata/instancename, and the archive dir is in /u03/pgdata/archive/instancename. so i am not sure, how i can say in veeam to look in that locations for the WAL Files. the only info we have in /etc is the /etc/pgtab. did anyone know how to get Postgres WAL Backup running with a non standard postgresql installation?regards franco

After taking the manual snapshot on GCP it is going to another zone this behavior of Veeam or GCP as per my understanding the manual snapshot will always save the snap in a multi region location closest to the VM.
