Veeam Ports - for Backup jobs between Windows Computer and VB&R 12.1

The source is the FROM and the destination is the TO.  Check this page for the ports laid out differently but with all of them.

I know the link is vSphere but the ports are mainly the same for Hyper-V as well.

It is interesting what AI can do and their purpose really. You guys are the experts here. I am just an engineer doing my daily work as per usual.

To enable communication between a Windows Server (proxy) and a Veeam Backup Server, you'll need to open the following ports:

From Windows Server (proxy) to Veeam Backup Server:

1. TCP port 135 (RPC)
2. TCP port 445 (SMB/CIFS)
3. TCP port 902 (Veeam Data Mover)
4. TCP port 9392 (Veeam Backup & Replication)

From Veeam Backup Server to Windows Server (proxy):

1. TCP port 445 (SMB/CIFS)
2. TCP port 1024-65535 (dynamic RPC ports)

Additionally, if you're using:

- Veeam Cloud Connect, open TCP port 6180
- Veeam Agent, open TCP port 9393
- Veeam WAN Accelerator, open TCP port 2500-5000 (optional)

Please note that these ports are required for Veeam to communicate with your Windows Server. Make sure to allow incoming and outgoing traffic on these ports in your Windows Firewall settings.

Those ports look right and would be in the link I sent as well.

Yes...those indeed do look correct. Key of course is making sure they’re bidirectional.

Add them in the Windows F/W and let us know how it goes.

thanks for that, but not sure what on which machine(s) i need to open the ports.
are those ports to be opened on the Veeam Backup server or the Windows server?

IMO, very important to just open the required ports, but the veeam docs for ports is a dozen pages long and not clear about inbound, output.

does veeam has a shell script that can run on a given machine, VBR or agent or whatever, and just spit out the inbound ports to be opened?

i would love to vent but i am just a community edition user ;wink

This would be the Windows server machine if that is acting as your Proxy server.
