So in B&R v12 it is possible to directly backup to an object storage - same is valid for the agents if I’m not mistaken. Testing the current beta hasn’t given me that option to choose an object storage as target repository, so I guess it can only be achieved in combination with B&R? Or does it still have to be developed? Thanks!
- 1 to many destination replication job- ability to resizing the replication job menu/console- when I edit replication job and go to virtual machines tab, I wish to have more info of the source VMs presented like (cluster, vcenter, etc). it is helpful when you have the same VM name in multiple vcenters.
Morning, Thought I’d try something new with you guys, see if it’s something you’d be interested in me continuing. There are a huge number of features within Veeam, but often you have either a default setting that you never change, or a setting that YOU never configure other than one particular way. I’d like to explore some of these and get your own stories as to when you’ve had to change these, so we can all share in our knowledge and see the “edge cases” for such decisions. For our first one, lets talk about Application Aware Processing. We know that we need this to move from a crash consistent backup to a transactionally consistent backup, and to leverage some advanced Veeam feature. So, why can we disable it completely, when it’s so important? I was working with a customer recently that had another backup vendor in use, and the backups hadn’t been running for 18 months (). The customer had two physical servers in different locations, both were domain controllers (and one was even ru
For many years I have used Veeam in conjunction with NetApp storage to deliver an extraordinary backup experience for my customers running VMware. It allows me to do snap based backups and kick off replication. Then I can take the traditional streaming backup from the secondary storage to another device. The rub is that Hyper-V is NOT seeing the same amount of integration now or ever… With so many folks looking at Azure; it seems like this would be a no brainer. This would allow for customers to experience a seamless hybrid cloud experience orchestrated at the backup layer without VM stun… Maybe v11 has fixed this… Please someone chime in!!!
Hi all, I’ve recently been doing a series of posts about using object storage in general but even more with the various method of doing so with Veeam. I’m not going to spam the channel with a bunch of posts but here are what I’ve posted this week.https://www.koolaid.info/getting-started-with-s3-compatible-object-storage/https://www.koolaid.info/configuring-veeam-backup-for-microsoft365-with-encrypted-object-storage/https://www.koolaid.info/configuring-veeam-backup-replication-sobr-for-non-immutable-object-storage/https://www.koolaid.info/configure-veeam-backup-replication-for-immutable-object-storage/
Hi,I have problems, restoreing VMs from s3 to vmware cloud on aws. I get a permission denied error.s3 and vCenter is added probably in veeam b&r thats insalled on VMC too. I can see my backups in Veeam B&R in VMware Cloud on AWS. I also can see the virtual machines in VMware Cloud on AWS. But I cannot give crendentials to the vSphere hosts, because it is not allowed in VMC. I guess that is the reason for my problem? What can I do, to use Veeam in VMC to backup and restore my VMs?

Hello,a customer needs to setup cloud backup using Veeam Cloud Connect.Total source capacity is about 90TB of heterogeneous data (40 VMs, most of them are users files, db, sap)Needs are daily incremental, 1 monthly full/VM, 6 months retention (totally 6 full backup/VM).I don't understand how to use the capacity calculator https://calculator.veeam.com/vbr/Can someone please help me understand how to fill data into the tool ?thank you so muchBest Regards,Davide
Hello All,I have a case i’m working on it customer has DC in cloud provider site and needs to move it to new DC he can’t make backup throw WAN because of traffic costs so we offers to get storage and put it in the cloud provider site and create second copy to it then move the storage to the new place and create replica seeding and make planned failover and commit the failover any suggestion recommendation?
If anyone has VONE and upgraded to 11a but see an internal server error message in the web client there is a hotfix that was released. See the following KB -KB4239: "Internal Server Error" in the Veeam ONE Web Client after upgrade to version 11a
Now that we have 2 of the 3 days of VMworld out of the way who’s been following along? What’s new that you see as interesting?Personally the whole project where the management layer of vSphere is containerized I think is both interesting and is going to create some challenges in the near future for those of us thinking about BCDR. That itself lends itself to the idea of the other project where your vSphere management is now done as a Service. From the Veeam perspective I keep thinking about the idea of having physical repositories that I use the project Monterrey smart NICs with to fold them into the NSX overlay to really nail down the connectivity with.

HI Everyone. I seem always to be doing at least 2 IT courses at the same time. The reasons are many but I can enumerate a few: One I enjoy IT :), Two I am worried about getting behind, Three I want to get ahead, Four I am addicted to getting the course completions certificates and certifications because it makes up for my years of goofing off in grade school and all but the last year of High School. Back then teachers were not very politically correct so I was called a moron, a pain in the a, imbecile, lazy, annoying and many other attributes which in today’s world would land the teacher in court :) . This obviously inflicted me with deep impostor syndrome whenever I find myself sitting at a table with smart folks :).So I am always doing courses. Now no one really pays you do do courses so you have to somehow fit them in with the boring stuff. i.e. work. I have a few tricks but wanted to know if you had any as well. For one thing on most courses you can turn up the speed of the lecture
We currently have a situation where we need to copy backed up files on a different subnet from the Veeam server. The backup files are on the proxy server in a different subnet and I need to copy them to a different server on the same subnet. Veeam is across a VPN so copying 1 TB of files from Veeam across the VPN would take too long. When I mount the files to restore it would be great if they were available in the VeeamFLR folder on the proxy server. Then I could copy them directly on the same subnet. Right now the files to restore are only available on the Veeam server. As a workaround I’m going to install Veeam on the Proxy server so I can access the backed up files without using the VPN.
