Thanks for everyone that took part in the polls in my Fun Friday lead up. Huge amount of excitement from the community to see what’s going on with Veeam Backup & Replication v12, in particular in the service provider and object storage spaces, as determined by you, the voters! I tried to update veeam 5.0... but it didn't work. I tried to install the patch and it didn't work. I uninstalled version 5 to install version 6 and it didn't work. I tried to install version 6 on two other stations and it still does not work. I get a windows installer popup when I try to install VEEAM and then it crashes. can you help me please.
If you setup a VBR agent based backup on a machine that has 3 volumes listed in the OS (one volume being the VBR backup repository), and you set the backup type to entire computer; VBR by default will backup all 3 volumes listed in the OS, including the backup repository volume, correct? For context, in this scenario, the Veeam repository volume points to a NAS setup via iscsi initiator.
Hi, Veeam newbie here looking for recommendation on how to make optimal use of our network cards. Our servers are HP DL365s with 4 x 1Gbps on a single module and 2 x 10Gbps on a separat module. The plan is to follow the VMwar Best Practice document to allocate 2 x 1Gbps for Management and vMotion, 2 x 1Gbps for the VM traffic (VLAN 111) and 1 x 10Gbps for storage traffic to our NetApp (from where we mount the VMDKs via NFS). Our Veeam BaR server and proxy are both VMs and not physical and we have a separate VLAN for backup and replication (VLAN 333), and for storage (VLAN 222). A colleague says we are over-engineering this and backup traffic should just flow thru the same storage network. Any suggestions?
I have a 9.5 B&R isntallation out of support. (but it was working untill now)I have installed the software in a new windows server virtual machine with the same installer of the first time. Then I try to install the licence with the .lic file we received when it was bought. Then, Veeam answers : invalid licenseHow can it be solved ?
Good evening folks, got a question for you, hopefully the last one before Christmas, for an “issue” I’ve got with Veeam.B&R has a job that backups a list of vms, and that’s all good. Then I add a vCenter in the structure, and vCenter updates all nodes’ certificate.Ok.At this point, B&R Console needs a refresh and it’ll see all vms as new ones.Perfect, but.Next backup Veeam will save them as full backup, creating a duplicate of the vm in the backup file.Is there any way to avoid it?
Hello, our data backup policy is as following:incremental backup from monday to friday on a disk repository full backup every week on the same disk repository A second copy to tape is performed for all full data stored on the disk repositoryNow we only want to start a duplication to Tape of all full backup data that are only generated by the jobs started the 1st-2nd of each month. How can I achieve this data backup policy? Thanks for your help!
I recall from one of the recent Veeam R&D Forums Digest newsletters that Reverse Incremental for Hyper-V is being removed or has been removed in VBR. This is useful for sending full backups to Tape, otherwise we have to do synthetic full to Tape (heavy use of virtual memory for our TB-sized backups) or create a synthetic .VBK (use more disk space).Which VBR version did Veeam start doing this? Luckily still on 9.5I feel like Hyper-V is getting short-changed ...
Hi, everyone! I have a quick question about coypjob intervals. If I have my copyjob set to 1 day starting at 4am, does that mean that the copy starts at 4am and runs until 4am the next day and then just starts over? I am seeing some warnings about things not being copied over in the copy interval. I’m a little confused on how this works. How can I make the copy interval longer?
Good afternoon Group. It is the first time that I am going to install veeam with a client, I have been reading a lot of the documentation and watching the how to videos, but I can't find anywhere that recommends me how to partition all the installation paths and on which disks to put the installation paths for 100 VMs. From what I've read, it would be something like this: 1.-Installation folder at least 40 GB in path A, in this path the database is installed, wouldn't it be better to install the database in another path? 2.-Write cache folder of at least 10 Gb in SSD in path B:? 3.-Guest Catalog Folder, on SSD in path D:, how much space? Hopefully someone can give me their recommendation. Thanks in advance.

Hi TeamI have a customer where we have configured VBA for AWS backups across different tenants..KMS encryption configured for at the repository level.VBA integration with VBR using the VBA plugin to assist with centralized licensing and a single pane of glass for VBA management has also been configured.Customer was hoping he could create a backup copy job of data residing on AWS to an Azure or GCP bucket.Would this be possible ? If Yes How and if not possible would it be possible to configure a backup copy to a different region within AWS itself. Was unable to bringup any details of the same .Someone from Veeam presales had stated that it would be possible with regular password encryption and not KMS but how would this be achieved. ThxKarun
I’ve used Veeam Backup & Replication V10 solutino; have File-level-backup jobs, Synthetic full backup, local repo, and use Optimal Data Compression. My issue is, High and Extreme Data Compression does not compress The Backup.my backups took massive sotrage, why is the compression not working?
I am currently working on setting up VBR backup to Data Domain and noticed that Dell and Veeam have different recommendations for compression.Dell (https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000194977/veeam-backup-replication-with-powerprotect-datadomain)Veeam (https://www.veeam.com/kb1745)Does anyone want to chime in on what they have found to be best practice? Thanks!

The LTO Program Technology Provider Companies (TPCs), Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, IBM Corporation and Quantum Corporation, today released their annual tape media shipment report, detailing year-over-year shipments through the fourth quarter of 2021. The report reveals 148 Exabytes1 (EB) of total tape capacity (compressed) shipped in 2021, marking an impressive record year for the LTO Program. With a growth rate of 40%, this strong performance in shipments continues following the previous record-breaking 110 EB capacity shipped in 2019 and 105 EB of capacity shipped in 2020 (during the pandemic). https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220419005174/en/LTO-Tape-Capacity-Shipments-Reach-New-Record-In-2021
