Hello,First of all I am not really sure where to post my question. From my Veeam account I am linked to the R&D forums. But there it says ‘Not a support forum!’. So I ask it here.Is it possible to backup the transaction logs of an SQL server running on an Azure VM with Veeam Backup for Azure ? I can enable application-aware snapshots but where and how do i select the applications to protect? Thanks,Chris
Hi allI often use a DELL PowerEdge R740XD2 as a Veeam Repository. This with a bunch of SAS HDD disks in RAID-60.Great as being a repository. But to make the disks even faster, I want to use 2x SSD disks to configure as a write cache so the backups can be written even faster.NICs are 10Gbit.As a RAID controller a PERC H730P is being used.Windows Server 2022 and REFS 64K is being used on the repo. This is a setup often being used in combination with Veeam.Cachecade is not possible anymore on the RAID controller. What options are there?Using 3rd party software to use the SSD disks as write cache. What software is recommended by Veeam and are you guys familiar with? Or just stay away from it because the extra performance is just limited? Thx for your feedback! regardsNico
We are running 11a with IBM SVC storage integration and storage snapshots. On our Linux proxies there are regularly leftover multipath devices. In the case below the only mapped device at this time is the 5GB disk (mpatha, for testing). There is no backup running anymore, no 10 TB disk should be there. The amount of devices varies from host to host, some don’t have any leftovers. # multipath -lmpathsqu (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e70) dm-41 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqh (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e82) dm-15 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqt (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e77) dm-39 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqs (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e6b) dm-37 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqr (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e67) dm-35 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpatha (3600507680c80802f30000000000274b6) dm-6 IBM,2145size=5.0G features='1 queue_if_no_path' hwhandler='1 alua' wp=
Hello,I'm using Veeam 11 community edition. I'm having trouble booting from the recovery media. First of all the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" is displayed in German. When I do press a key the system hangs at a screen with the blue 4 pane window image, a MS Windows image. I also noticed I don't get the option to include drivers when building the image. Please let me know if you have any ideas.Thank you,Frank
Hi everyone,I have backup job stored on SOBR(Windows on-prem storage+azure blob). While backup is offloading to azure, it is getting cancelled because backup job runs. Is it possible for both offload goes on and backup runs without cancelling?
Hi guys, I’ve been busy on a rainy cold evening: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6877314027693969408/ cost: some green balls and 2 led light-strips on 3v and then plenty of Veeam-goodies that were somewhat everywhere in the house and at our office :-)… and most important: a set of steel nerves to temper the kids while lighting up all those pens in a tree full of very breakable balls...result: priceless Feel free to use, re-use, ab-use the below pics in your own message on social media.
I’d backed up some data for a group of users during a mail migration. The job is complete so I’ve deleted it all to free up the licenses for another job. Unfortunately I believe that I’ve done things in the wrong order. The repository has been deleted and now I can’t get “Remove-VBOLicensedUser”. For every user it outputs:“Remove-VBOLicensedUser : The process cannot access the file '\\10.1.1.1\office365backups\BackupName\Repository.xml' because it is being used by another process” The repository listed is nothing to do with these users and it’s not in user by any process that I can see - certainly openfiles is blank. Any idea how to proceed?

Applications for the 2023 program will open soon, the submission period is December. If you are member of vExpert 2022, vExpert program released a cool function that is now available for you to use. We have connected your vExpert profile, application and directory with your VMware Advocacy data. Both (vExpert & Advocacy) need be the same for the data to show in your account. Below screenshot of the directory as well as the application data.If you aren’t using VMware Advocacy or not sure what it is, I suggest you watch the webinar with Noell Grier. Hello,I am experimenting with VBAR11 in a home lab. The backed-up data itself is not important.Boot into recovery mode via usb key. On the usb key is a .vbk file, no .vbm Use bare metal recovery option, veaam is not able to find the .vbk, if I manually select the .vbk, veeam complains about corrupted .vbm file.So it seems that recovery agent, must have a valid .vbm. but in a disaster recovery situation and the .vbm is corrupt, how do i restore?I do know that VBAR itself, can import .vbk without .vbm, so cannot recovery agent do that same?Second question, using the the recovery boot agent, how do i mount the .vbk? Thanks,Dave
We are being told by our Veeam Cloud Connect Provider, Global Data Vault, that we still can’t upgrade to Veeam 11 since there are still bugs in the Cloud Director services. We are also being told that No other Cloud Connect Providers are on Veeam 11 yet because Veeam is telling them not to be until these problems are fixed. Are you hearing the same thing, or if you have Veeam 11 and have no issue with your Cloud Connect Provider, how long have they been compatible with version 11 and who is that Vendor?
After reading MicoolPaul’s question “Linux Distribution of Choice” the answers to MicoolPaul’s question seemed to be more geared for a desktop. So I began to wonder what Linux distribution do people choose for servers in a production environment. Are people’s choice the same for a production server as their desktop choice? Of course, when you’re creating a Linux production server you don’t install an X11/Wayland Desktop Environment. In my environment, there some RHEL and Ubuntu servers. Linux appliances, provided by a vendor, seem to be CentOS, Ubuntu, and SuSE.What’s your production distro of choice?
Good afternoon,I am with V10 version With Enterprise manager I try to hide jobs and vm depending on user.ExampleUser1 : could see Job1 and vm Vm1 and vm 2User2: could see Job2 and vm Vm3 We have two roles : Portal administrator and portal user. With the role portal user, I filtered the vm for each user. It works fine the User1 sees vm1 and vm2 and User2 sees VM3.But the two users see job1 and job2. My question is how do we filter the jobs by users as we can do with vm? Regards
I am going to be starting a blog series on VBM365 this week and wanted to ask if there is anything specific people want to see added as I am doing it from the perspective of the MSP since I work for one. Also if anyone wants to contribute as well let me know and I can add that to the appropriate blog as additional content.
I’ve seen this error message in the forums multiple times. From what I’ve read, there is a non-public hotfix available. The weird thing is, the backup copy was working fine until the customer swapped USB drives.I thought maybe the hotfix has been integrated into B&R 11a already, so I tried installing that today. That gets me a different error, also apparently a well known one: VBRCatalog is not a valid short file name. What I’ve tried:Setting the registry key for the Catalog Path, but the path already was correct. Haven’t installed any upgrades in the last 3 months. Still running version 188.8.131.527, but from what I saw during the upgrade, VBR Catalog is still version 10.0.1.4854.Any idea what I could still try?
The new version of Kasten K10 (4.5.6) supports now to store persistent volumes images into VBR repositories. So, the integration of K10 and VBR gets on a new level...There are some requirements to get this working. See the new KB article for further information.https://www.veeam.com/kb4258
Hey all, my company is using Veeam mostly for our medium-sized clients, but some of our smaller clients with only a few VM’s generally are using something else. A couple with old Datto Siris or Alto appliances, quite a few with Barracuda backup appliances, and even an Intronis client. Most of these clients are paying for more of a BaaS service on a monthly or yearly agreement, though I think a couple actually own their the Barracuda appliance that we sold them in the past. With that said, we’re pretty invested with Datto despite the Kaseya attachment, and they caught the ear of my boss about leasing out Datto Siris 4 appliances to replace all of those non-Veeam clients. That said, I’d rather move them over the the Service Provider side of things and get everything moved into the Veeam house. Here’s what I was thinking. We historically don’t like hosting customer data, and so somewhat in parallel with my developing a VB365 solution for our clients (as most are using Barracuda Cloud-to
