Can anyone provide details on how to use Netbird to backup/restore a remote Linux VPS?
From the Veeam B&R server, I can ping the Netbird host name and IP of the remote Linux server but I have tried for hours to get it to work. I can’t even get Veeam to install the agent on the remote Linux host.
+23Did you allow the required ports as noted in that post? Something is probably blocking the installation of the agent.

About the only thing that comes to mind on why the agent won’t deploy is f/w on the system, on VBR, or any f/w in between blocking the required port as Chris suggests. Check out the Port requirements in the Guide and make sure your systems are listening on the required ports….from VBR to the remote Linux system.

The whole idea of using Netbird is so that you do not have to open ports on the firewall. I did allow ALL ports when I created the Netbird policy which allows traffic between the local Veeam B&R server and the remote VPS. I also added a policy to allow SSH. As a test only, I added a firewall rule on the VPS which allows incoming port 22 from the public IP address of the Veeam B&R server and it was able to install the Veeam client on the VPS if I specified the public host name of the VPS. However, this “bypasses” and defeats the purpose of using Netbird.

When I was viewing that other post on my phone, I did not see the option to add a comment so I created this thread. I thought that other post was closed to comments, lol. Since viewing it from a PC, I see that’s not the case and added a comment.
