VeeamBackup&Replication update to 12.1.1.56 it has been sitting at step 1 for over an hour

Veeam 365 | SharePoint personal sites ?

Hello Veeam,In Veeam 365 backup for SharePoint online, I see that can backup the SP online sites and also has a category for “Personal Sites”.Can anyone explain what is these Personal Sites and where can I find them in SharePoint admin portal?I couldn't found any explanation even in Veeam documentation about Personal Sites.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo365/guide/back_up_sites.html?zoom_highlight=personal+sites&ver=60 Thank you in advance,Nikos

Backup on Azure transactions match the cost of the storage

Hello,One of our customers uses VBRv12 on premise with Azure an Repository. They have about 2TB of data backed up locally and via backup copy jobs to an Azure Blob Repo.We were very baffled to notice that at the end of the month, the cost with transactions was matching the cost of the storage.I am looking for an advice on how to optimize the number of transactions other then reducing backup frequency.For a fact we checked his environment and he has 1server per job and 1 backup copy job per production job. I wonder if aggregating all in a single backup copy job towards Azure would address maybe this issue?We are also testing this scenario but to be relevant we need to run it for at least on week so if anyone ran into this please let me know.

Accepted for the sixth year in a row. #VeeamVanguard Veeam Vanguard 2023 I was a part of the Veeam Vanguard program for the past five years in 2018-2022, with the hopes of another renewal for the 2023 year. Applications opened up for the 2023 year, and this time, it was all based on your application, whereas in previous years, you could have others nominate you. I have remained active with the Veeam space promoting the product, blogging, Twitter, Paper.li E-Newspaper, and even wrote a third edition of my book for Packt Publishing - Mastering Veeam Backup & Replication v12So I filled out the application with examples of all my activities throughout the year in the hopes I would be accepted. After applying, waiting is hard for that email to indicate whether you are in or out.So based on my post as you can imagine, I was accepted for a sixth year into one of the best evangelist programs out there - Veeam Vanguard. VM backup Failure to StoreOnce

Hi Team, My customer has a setup for StoreOnce (3660 with Firmware 4.3.7) and Veeam (12) configured with Veeam Standard license.Scenario 1:Customer tried to take a VM backup to one of a catalyst store which failed due to licensing issue in the logs. However, I did not get any documentation mentioning Veeam standard edition doesn’t support catalyst stores. As per Catalyst store configuration I double checked and its as per HPE standards.Error: “Backup to HPE StoreOnce Catalyst requires valid enterprise edition of Veeam Backup and replication.” Scenario 2:Customer tried to back up the same test VM on StoreOnce NAS share and that passed successfully. Resolution:Could you share me any documentation which says the Veeam standard edition does not support StoreOnce catalyst store? Are there any changes in Veeam that needs to be done to support the above Below are the backup logs captured?

Veeam Backup & Replication v10

Hi,I have been facing an issue while trying to login with Veeam Backup & Replicaiton v10.  The error is “failed to connect to Veeam Backup & Replicaiton server: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:9392. Application Event log : Service cannot be started. Veeam Windows Agent Restore Confusion

This is probably a relatively complicated one, but also not a critical issue for us as there’s sufficient workarounds. Not something I want to go through the trouble of a support ticket with at this time. Hoping a community member can make the seemingly complicated uncomplicated. Veeam 12.1. We have a number of systems in our environment that we use the Veeam Agent for Windows to back up. We are primarily on Nutanix AHV for our virtualization. The backups seem to work just fine. When doing some recent restore testing, we noticed something. The goal of the restore testing was to test restoring these agent backups to our Nutanix AHV cluster. When using “Restore entire VM to Nutanix AHV...” option, during the wizard when I get to the storage container page, it shows the computer, but with no disks. What I then found was that this “no disk” symptom also occurs if I use the “Instant Recovery to Nutanix AHV”, but it actually gives an error message of “The following machines have no disks, us

What do you think of: Quantum Scalar Ransom Block

Quantum announced a new feature in their Library-portfolio: Scalar Ransom Block.https://blocksandfiles.com/2021/11/02/quantum-eject-eject-eject-well-partially-eject-tape-to-block-ransomware/The idea behind is extremely simple: A magazine in the library is partially ejected, so that the robot cannot access these tapes any more! But the ejection is just a few millimeters so the barcode-scanner is still able to see the codes. Ejection can be controlled remotely but to insert the magazine again, a physical manual task is necessary! In my opinion it is a super simple and effective method to protect tapes from attackers that would otherwise be unprotected if tapes would stay in library. But – for sure – it is no protection in the sense of the 3-2-1 rule.And what do you think when comparing to Libraries Mail Slots?

Moving VSphere hosts with Veeam Replication

One thing that I find really useful if you’re moving a small VM for a small customer that doesn’t have a VCenter to a new Vsphere host is to just simply connect the the two ESXi hosts in Veeam:Add both hosts in the Virtual Infrastructure Create a replication job between the old host and the new host If it runs rather slow let it run for a few days.  Determine a small outage window where you’ll have the customer stop accessing data on the old host.  Do one more replication job. Shut the old VM down in the old host Power on the new server on the new host.It’s important to not use the replica_ prefix or suffix just for the sake of simplicity. A lot of times focus is on larger customers and how to vmotion this or that but sometimes it’s nice to think about how small customers can be served too.  Using Veeam for that is a life saver.

I’d like to install a second VBR Enterprise Plus server (different catalog) to my secondary site for backing up servers at that location. Question is, can I use my existing license on it and have both VBRs running at the same time?I have a 30 instances license.

[Feature Request] More Scheduling Options for Periodic Backup Copy Jobs

Running Veeam B&R 11.0.1.1261 (11a? and fairly current)I was advised by our veeam rep to use a backup copy job to accomplish what I was trying to do. Basically:we have a daily backup job to disk with 60 days of restore points, and weekly full backups on Saturdays. I want to move a copy of ONLY the weekly full from this job to a different datastore that’s part of a scale-out repository, most specifically to use the backup copy job’s ability to apply GFS retention to what it’s copying Unfortunately the scheduling options for the periodic backup copy job leave a lot to be desired.The only option you have is “run this job every X days at Y time” - that’s it.Considering that normal backup jobs get a wide variety of scheduling options (most importantly in this case “run on specific day of the week” or  “run after specific backup job”) it seems odd that none of these extremely useful options are available within backup copy jobs.Instead the only option is “run every 7 days” which means I

Service Provider Console - Cloud connect neessary?

A few years ago we were a Service Provider with a Cloud Connect setup and offered our customers Cloud Connect Repositories. We then saw tjen object storage really started to take off it would be costly to maintain a datacenter with this service compared to the prices object storage was offered by the hyperscalators! We then started a partnership who ran Veeam Cloud Connect environemnt with service provider console. so we could still track and monitor our customers backupjob etc. but the backup now went to the object storages. I am just wondering, is it necessary to deploy a cloud connect environment at all to just use the service provider console for monitoring jobs, update the agents etc.? I can see in the marketplace (Azure) there is a dedicate appliance with the service provider console. Would that be enough to maintain our clients? We are now using Wasabi for repositories. I guess I am having a hard time to see what we would gain from the cloud connect environment these days? (Perh

Backup job doing NBD instead of SAN Direct

We just moved a couple of servers to a new volume in NetApp using its new large file/volume feature. Nothing has changed on the backup job except the volume that it is backing up. The smaller server around 3TB was able to be backed up using SAN but the other server that is approximately 43 TB is being backed up using NBD. Prior to the move, both servers are doing SAN direct.  I would think that since these are both on the same volume is one has been successfully backed up using SAN the other should as well. Both servers are also in the same compute cluster and both are using the same proxies. What is causing this behavior?

Not supported for read-only access

Hello folks,Attempting a bare metal recovery on similar new hardware as a server was hijacked.Backups are encrypted (password known) and I can see the restore points in Veeam Community Edition 12.Sadly everytime I try to access/unpack/recover the files it gives me(A) an error message that alway include the text “Not supported for read-only access. (B) currently a CHMOD value ranging from 80-190 Example Restore job failed Error:Storage version [830813235] is not supported for read-only access.Failed to open storage for read access. Storage: [Server1 BUD2024-08-01T230026_070F.vib].Failed to restore file from local backup. VFS link: [summary.xml]. Target file: [MemFs://frontend::CDataTransferCommandSet::RestoreText_{0ba8e79c-f75a-4323-bdeb-ae273994eeed}]. CHMOD mask: [137].Restore job failed Error: Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.RestoreText}. Anybody have any pointers how I can extract the files from the backups?
