I am deploying the new v13 VSA using the OVA method in my lab VMware environment today and discovered when deploying you could see an SSL warning for the OVA like this -SSL Warning and Ignore option There is a fix for this but it requires that you install two CA certificates from Entrust to the vCenter Trusted Root Store which can be done from the WebUI.  Once those are installed to your vCenter then deploying the OVA will not give you the SSL warning and show a valid certificate.CA Certificates to install -Entrust CA Certificates to install in Trusted Root Store on vCenterAfter that when deploying OVA no more warning and valid certificate

Recently, I migrated our SAP HANA environment to use the Veeam backup plugin, replacing the old Commvault plugin. Hi all,  i’d like to clarify a best practice scenario for SOBR with Azure Blob storage.Environment (short) Veeam B&R v12.x — SOBR: Perf = Data Domain, Capacity = Azure Blob Cool (immutability 25 d + 10 d block generation), Archive = Azure Archive. GFS: Weekly 5 weeks, Monthly 7 months (~210 d). Goal: 30 d in Cool, then ≥ 180 d in Archive (Azure minimum). Candidate options (please advise which is best practice) Option A (simple & compliant, slight extra Cool cost): Keep Monthly = 7 months and Archive-after = 30 d. Keep immutability 25 + 10 = 35 d (Capacity cleanup deferred until D+35; ~5 extra Cool days). Option B (cost-optimized, if security allows): Set immutability = 20 + 10 = 30 d to align with Archive-after = 30 d, keep Monthly = 7 months.

Hi,does anybody have experience in backup vms from elastic cloud server (ECS) in the open telekom cloud? My idea would be, installing veeam backup server inside the cloud. Backup the ECS with agents to an external storage provider AWS S3 oder WASABI for example.Greetings Hartmut

I am facing performance speed issues with the agent backup. The server capacity is 8TB, and it takes a very long time to complete the backup. Could you please advise if there are any solutions or recommendations to increase thebackup speed?

We are a vmware shop, being priced out.  Many factors pushing us toward Hyper-V.I understand that in the early days ReFS was bug-ridden in multiple aspects.Going forward with Windows 2025 CORE Hyper-V, with VM’s of Windows2022, RHEL 9, and a few linux-based OVA deployments, what is the community recommendation for the format of the iSCSI LUNs that the VM’s run from?  there will be sizes from a couple hundred GB to all the way to 6TB, and in a special case 20TB.Our Veeam Repos are XFS, so not a factor here.Thank you kindly

Well some good news for those that are fans of my previous three books, today I was able to get my hands on something that will allow me to start the outline and process for the fourth book on v13.  Looking forward to delivering a fresh new take of Veeam v13 with the new appliance model and the JeOS ISO servers.I will also be covering the AI pieces as well that have been put in to the latest releases along with the new VONE v13.  I will see about the Windows version upgrade path and depending how long that takes might skip it from the book and just go with the appliance since this to me is the future.So hold on to your hats and hopefully I can aim to get this out early 2026.  If there are specific topics anyone wants to see covered feel free to post them here or DM me if you like. 😎

Recently I had to configure a backup on a physical Linux server that stores over half a petabyte of traffic fine images collected from speed cameras on federal highways in Brazil.   The catch: this server runs critical client applications, and any migration to another server is extremely sensitive and requires careful planning before taking action. At the moment, a full migration wasn’t feasible.Due to the urgency of the demand, it was necessary to implement a backup solution immediately, but the server cannot go down for even one minute. Any downtime would mean fines not being recorded, resulting in immediate financial loss.  The Challenge of Backing Up a Mission-Critical Environment

Hello. As part of our Physical Infrastructure in VB&R12, we have a Physical Windows Server that has storage attached by fibre channel. The Veeam agent is installed on this server and the service uses the Local System account. I am attempting a "Managed by agent" backup of this server, but when this runs, I get the error message "Volume G:\ does not exist" for files from the FC-attached storage. Outside of Veeam, I checked that the server's local SYSTEM account has access to G: and it could read the files there just fine. Why can't the backup job see that volume? Thank you.

A customer uses the copy function for capacity tier to instantly copy on-premises Veeam backups (retention of 30 days) to object storage. They’ve configured object lock on the object storage (60 days) that has a duration longer than the local backup policy. As Veeam cannot delete a backup in object storage at 30 days, will it delete it after the object lock expires (60 days) or does the customer need to manually delete the  files on object storage?My thoughts are Veeam will clean up those files once the the 60 day lock has expired, but got me scratching my head for sure

Hello,We have three ESXi servers connected to our Nimble storage using a Brocade Fibre Channel switch, each ESXi server connects to Nimble storage with individual zone as: ESXi1_Nimble, ESXi2_Nimble, ESXi3_Nimbe.A few months after this configuration was done, we added a physical server for Veeam B&R v12 as backup server and repository, which is also a backup proxy server. This is connected to the same FC switch and I created zone between the Veeam B&R server and the Nimble storage as:  VeeamBR_NimbleAnd most recently, we added a HPE tape library to this mix for GFS tape backups. Added the library to the FC switch and created a zone between VeeamBR_HPETapeDrive. Each night, the Veeam B&R server runs backup jobs then stores into its local repository (D: drive). Then it runs backup to tape, which writes from the Veeam B&R backup repository into tape drive. I have already configured "Direct storage access" while configuring Backup proxy'

 Upgrading from 12.3.0.310 to 12.3.2.3617 stopped at the database check with “Failed to connect to PostgreSQL server localhost:5432.” The fix was to map the exact Windows identity that launched setup in pg_ident.conf, restart PostgreSQL, and rerun the installer. The Task at Hand, or the problem to solveAs a service provider that is actively growing our BaaS offering, one major source or growth is Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.  While it’s relatively easy to understand rental license consumption when backing up VM’s (number of projected workloads * points per license utilized), figuring out how many licenses consumed in VB365 is much more difficult on the surface because, depending on how you’ve selected your objects to be backed up from Microsoft 365 such as selection via groups, you clearly can protect many more objects than you’ve manually selected and consume more licenses.  And some objects don’t consume licenses.  If you have a dedicated VB365 server for each Organization, perhaps this would be easier.  But in my case, we have a single VB365 server orchestrating backups for multiple organizations/tenants.  But I need to know how many licenses I’m consuming per Org so that I know how much to bill them, or to make sure they’re
