Veeam backupJobs FAIL becous of The RPC server is unavailable

I have got the following error for  4 different VMs  server’s backup jobs . this is happening for thre consecutive day now6/15/2023 11:34:55 PM :: Task failed. Failed to expand object RDS09. Error: The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)   any solution , suggestion? I really appreciate your help and Thanks in advance.

Treating notifications "xxxx is no longer processed by this job" as alarms?

On my esxi 7.0 cluster I’ve added a couple of VMs for testing. Having had B&R configured to backup entire hosts (with some VM exceptions) it obviously backed up these test VMs. I did not notice this change, since I’ve configured Veeam to not email me on successful backups.Over the next days I removed these VMs. By doing so, Veeam completed to produce successful backups but today by accident I’ve noticed that it adds a single line message of the form “XXXX is no longer processed by this job. Make sure this change is intentional.”Two questions:These last jobs were still successful. Therefore I’ve received no e-mail for them (even if I did, I’d tend to overlook content for jobs that ran without hitches). Would it be better to have this type of a job end with a warning exit code, instead of a success one? How can I avoid having this message in the next backups? Should I edit the job and, if so, edit it how exactly?

Experience with HPE Apollo or other High Density server as backup repository?

Hi,I’d be interested in getting feedback from people that are already using HPE Apollo’s or other high density servers with local storage as repository server. It seems that a lot of people are currently planning to use them.what is you setup? Number of servers? Number of disks? Which type and size of RAID? Number of VM’s / source data how is your performance? do you use them only as backup target or as copy source as well? which filesystem ReFS/XFS with blockcloning/reflink

SOBR: Veeam Archive Tier – Calculations and Considerations (in v11)

IntroductionIn a previous post, I covered the SOBR Capacity tier Calculations and Considerations. Today, I will be exploring the Archive tier and discuss how to estimate Archive storage requirements, expected API calls and Proxy Appliance uptime. Before we jump into more details, remember that the Archive tier only works with “Amazon S3 Glacier”, “Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive” and “Microsoft Azure Archive Storage” in Veeam v11. In the SOBR configuration, under Archive Tier, you define after how many days (1) you want to free up space from your more expensive capacity tier by offloading to the typically** less expensive Archive Tier.**Keep in mind that the Archive tier is meant to store data for a long time (i.e. more than 1 year, up to 7 or more years). Hey guys, I have faced this error in customer environment where backup SOBR offload to cloud failed because it shows the error “ TLS version is not permitted on this storage account”, the TLS version is 1.2. I referred some articles and they suggests to add a registry value. Wasabi: Minimum storage duration policy

A data integrity checksum error occurred. Data in the file stream is corrupt. - Synology NAS, REFS, RDM

Had a client contact me this morning that is getting corruption errors on their backup copy jobs to the performance tier for their SOBR, but data appears to be making it out to their capacity tier, Wasabi, as far as they know (I didn’t check available restore points on that tier, but for sure the data is not sitting on the performance tier when I look at that filesystem).Background configuration is that they are using in both their primary and secondary datacenters a Synology NAS that is connected to their Windows Repo server as an RDM disk presented via ISCSI to their ESXI hosts, volume is formatted REFS, 64k blocks, the usual.  I realize that NAS’s are less than desirable, and my standard procedure is now to no longer use REFS when using a NAS as the backing array, but this is where we’re at.  I will point out that another copy job, not going to a SOBR but to the same NAS is copying data successfully.  I can’t say for sure off the top of my head if it’s the same volume or if this is

Automatically create vSphere roles to use with Veeam Backup & Replication V11

Good day everyone !In November 2020 I created a PowerCLI script which creates a vSphere role with cumulative permissions for Veeam Backup & Replication version 10.In the meantime VBR v11 was released and I needed to update that script and wanted to create “new awareness” of it. The fact that I see A LOT of Administrator@vsphere.local users being used with adding the vCenter to Veeam makes me nervous, that’s why I wanted to fight against this with a simple script so no one needs to manually go through the privileges. Veeam V12 PostgreSQL Config DB SQL Queries fail

Hello, we are monitoring the customer backups via PRTG.Till now, we had a SQL Skript, wich got the latest result and reported it to PRTG:SELECT latest_result FROM bjobs WHERE name = @prtg;That worked fine with MSSQL Express, but now with PostgreSQL we have to use a PostgreSQL Sensor in PRTG. Thats no problem, but it always failes with: “GSS/SSPI authentication but IntegratedSecurity not enabled” when I try to use the postgres user, or with: 28000: SSPI-Authentication for user Administrator failed”. For debugging I tried to change the access settings in the pg_hba.conf file but nothing seems to work.Is there a way I can still run queries to the config database? Or do I have to go via the PowerShell Snappin from Veeam?PS: We don’t use the Enterprise Manager, because you need the Enterprise Plus license for that and our customers don’t have that license. Thanks alot.

Immutable Backup Copy Job Issue

Move method: [SEEK_SET]. XX/XX/XXXX 01:09:00 :: Unable to apply retention policy: failed to delete backup files Error: Input/output errorFailed to get file system object info: '/XXXX/backups/BACKUP_COPY_JOB_XXXX/BACKUP_JOB_XXXX/'Agent failed to process method {FileSystem.Exists}. Now I see the repository as Unavailable and if I try to rescan it and I receive the following warnings:Failed to synchronize REPOXXXX Details: Input/output error Failed to get file system object info: 'XXXX/backups'. NetApp Ontap versions supported by Veeam VBR V11

Hi,I am looking for the NetApp Ontap versions supported by Veeam VBR V11.In the V11 release notes Ontap version 9.8 is mentioned as supported as the newest version. But what is the oldest supported version? I am not able to find it at the moment…   it is too warm probably….Does anyone in community know this?

VB365: Processing site XYZ finished with warning: Failed to backup list: XYZ. Unknown Error

UPDATE: Please see Update 3, as the hotfix/workaround needs to be undone because of possible side-effects.Just a quick information.Currently there could be an issue with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Sharepoint. Some sites will be backed up with the following warning:Processing site XYZ finished with warning: Failed to backup list: XYZ. Unknown ErrorI have seen this with 2 different customers and Veeam support is aware of this issue and actively working with Microsoft on it. At the moment I don’t have any further information, but I’ll keep updating this post.Update 1:I just found out that there's already a hotfix available: https://www.veeam.com/kb4326I haven't tested it so far, but will report back next week. Poor SAN transport mode performance

These days I had to troubleshoot poor VMware vSphere SAN transport mode performance during backup with Veeam. Before SAN mode, NDB transport mode was used. NBD outperformed SAN mode totally!Here are some facts about the environment.EnvironmentVMFS volume are hosted by two HPE 3PAR arrays in a synchronous replication configuration (Remote Copy) with Peer Persistence. ESXi hosts are running on different versions. Backup (here: Veeam Backup and Replication) is installed on a dedicated physical host. This host is connected with 10G LAN and a single FC uplink to one out of two fabrics.Backup performanceThe used backup mode in this environment was NDB transport mode. Fresh default install of B&R 12 on Windows Server 2022."Veeam GCP Service" and "Veeam Kubernetes Service" refuse to start.
