VeeamBackup&Replication 12 instlation failed

once i try to install VeeamBackup&Replication the setup refuse to complete it just once started it gives  that The error "unknown exception occurred vmaGetpropertiesFromRegistry"and close the setup and refuse to continue i am sure that happes related to uncorrect uninstalled veeam application is that mean i look for another application ?

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 10005

I’ve installed Veeam with a 30 day evaluation license. It works fine for VMs. However, when I try to back up the physical host using a Windows Agent, I get the error:Managed session has failed: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 192.1YY.1.XX:10005The endpoint running the agent can ping the backup server, and the backup server can ping the endpoint. They are all domain joined devices. There is no firewall between the endpoint and the server other than Windows Defencer with Advanced Security and all of the necessary Veeam in and out rules are present. However, the following command fails with message TcpTestSucceeded = False:Test-NetConnection -ComputerName backupServer.mynetwork.local -Port 10005 -InformationLevel DetailedThe backup server port 10005 is listening and not blocked by another application. Console Crash clr.dll

synology running linux vm as hardened repo

Can’t find an exact answer to this scenario. Is it possible to run a Linux vm (Ubuntu) on a synology (via VMM), and expose (or give access to) the underlying storage to the vm so that we can use the immutable feature?example:1: 40tb storage in one volume2: ubuntu vm having access to that storage somehow (I’m unfamiliar with vms aim synology)3: somehow configuring the veeam server to point to the Ubuntu vm storage so that it can use immutability

Broadcom acquires VMware

Probably you’ve heard the rumors or news already, but today Broadcom announced that it’s going to acquire VMware.https://investors.broadcom.com/news-releases/news-release-details/broadcom-acquire-vmware-approximately-61-billion-cash-and-stockI personally don’t know what to think about this, but I don’t have any positive feelings about the future of VMware. After they were split of from Dell I was hoping that things would get better, especially their quality. But now being merged with Broadcom (they’re going to rebrand as “VMware”) I’m not sure what we can expect from them.What do you say about this? VCP-DCV 2023 PASSED!

Happy Friday Community!And an even better Friday for me after passing the VMware VCP-DCV this morning. Whew! What a challenge, but with some patient studying, practical experience, and hard work, it’s passable. ReviewAs I shared in my Study Guide post from a few weeks ago, the exam has 70 questions and is 135 minutes long, which is 5 minutes more allotted time than the prior version. Unlike previous exams, I really needed most of the time to finish the questions and review my answers. I still had about 45-50 minutes left after my review. But on the last 2 VCP exam versions I’ve taken, I was able to finish and review in a little over an hour.I think part of the reason for the extra time it took me to finish was the question format. They were normal questions but several sentences long (long for sure, but not book-length). As such, those took a little time to read, and verify whatever requirements were asked for. Thankfully there was also what I call ‘standard’ questions consisting of ju

Guest Credentials Test fails (RPC client failed to call method [GetSvcVersion])

Hi, I am testing with Veeam to find out if it suits our needs. My first backup job though already fails under the rescan. Running the guest credentials test gives me this error in the log:‘RPC client failed to call method [GetSvcVersion]’.I like to backup a Windows 11 VirtualBox VM. The Windows firewall is switched off on that machine. VirtualBox and Veeam B&R are running on the same machine. The VM is connected via bridged networking.The RPC services are running on the VM and the Veeam installer service on the Veeam B&R machine.Thanks for any help or hints.

Unable to delete VEEAM from registry at all

Few months ago I have installed Veeam 12.0 community edition in my PC. Later now few days before I received an update notification for 12.1. After downloading the ISO file and trying to open the setup.exe I got the error “Unable to access the disk: access denied” like that. So I decided to uninstall the current veeam and then go for a fresh install. At that time it didnt let me to uninstall even. So I manually deleted all the folders and registry entries entirely from the system except these keys which are in the picture right now. Whatever I do these entries are never going off.

How to create direct connection from Veeam Agents to Wasabi

Is it possible to make the traffic from Veeam Agents go directly to Wasabi instead of going through our VSPC/VCC server? This will create a lot of network traffic and engress cost for us in Azure. In the manuals it says we should create cloud connect repository (with f.ex) wasabi. Was hoping that even this sets the Cloud Connect Repository in Veeam Agents, it would understand it was an object storge and route the backuptraffic directly to Wasabi itself.

VMCE 2020

Hi Folks, I took some time off of Kubernetes to upgrade my VMCE to version 2020. It was a fair exam but no easy walk through the park. Even if you work with Veeam every day and hold both VMCE and VMCA don’t take the upgrade as a shoe in!!. Thanks to @haslund Rasmus for the great practice tests, they got me worried so I put in a real effort and it paid off.Just a side note with the proctored exams, make sure you register with the exact name on your documents. I am Geoff but my full name is Geoffrey! My email has only Geoff hence it raised some concerns (45 minutes late starting :). All water under the bridge now :).. Back to Kubernetes!!! :)

Demystifying Veeam’s Backup Copy Feature – Part III, Long-Term (GFS) Retention

This 3rd and final part in the Blog series will be a bit lengthier than the previous 2, but the extra content is worth the read. In this 3rd post, I’ll be discussing the Backup Copy Job Long-Term (or GFS) Retention Policy. For the remainder of this post, I’ll just refer to this as ‘GFS Policy’. Over the years, I’ve generally felt Veeam’s User Guides have been fantastic. The best out there, in my opinion, are the VMware User Guides, with Veeam a close 2nd. Since about Veeam v9, when Veeam really started gaining steam implementing some of their best features to date – Storage Integration, expanding their Veeam Agent offering, etc, their User Guides have seemed to start lacking some needed information. Steps to restore VM to a new locatioin

I am new to Veeam and would like to restore the backup to a new location. The wizard takes me through steps to restore. In the datastore menu does it automatically create the VM with the new name. This is production server just need to know more before proceeding. Is this the only wizard for restore or after completing this wizard there will be another wizard to be completed. Is the live server online when the server is restored?

Hi,I am useing PowerShell doing VM Restores. It works pretty well. The only thing, that is not working for me, is to place the Target Network. I am restoreing VMs in an different target. If I understand the documentation correct, I need to Get the ViServerNetwork Info from my host. So I put this information in a varible like this:$target = Get-VBRViServerNetworkInfo -Server "srv01.veeam.local" | Where-Object { $_.NetworkName -eq "NW01" }But putting this varible to the Start command, the restore process will fail because auf the -TargetNetwork. So what I am doing wrong? Start-VBRRestoreVM –RestorePoint $restorepoint –Server $server –ResourcePool $rpool –Datastore $datastore –PowerUp $true -TargetNetwork $target

With Microsoft releasing Windows Server 2022, Veeam have delivered support for this in Veeam B&R and Veeam ONE v11a. This includes support not just for protecting Hyper-V VMs on the OS, or guest OS support, but also running all the relevant Veeam Components and services on Windows Server 2022. On-premise data archive to microsoft azure

Hello,I need recommendations and perhaps solution on this issue. I have got to archive on-premise data to Microsoft azure.When I got to the point where I had to scale out repositories, I keep getting an error that the target repository is being used for jobs.I tried creating another repository but it got to a point the wizard asked if I will be Ref file type to format and had to stop because I don't know if that will format the entire volume that the backup jobs resides.Kindly help on what to do.Thanks.
