We have a request to restore approx. 900k files across 2 VM windows server using VBR V12. since selecting individual files is not practical. we are evaluation alternative approaches such as restoring parent directories, mounting restored VMDKs or using instant recovery. Looking for recommendations on the most efficient and reliable method along with any best practices for handling a restore of this scale.

I am testing out deleting and restoring a single email in my Exchange Online mailbox using V365 restore with modern authentication. I keep receiving an error of ‘failed to open mailbox, account doesn’t have permission to impersonate requester.’I found that adding the Impersonation role in exchange is depreciated, so instead I installed Exchange Online Powershell, connected to ExchangeOnline, and granted my 365 admin account full access to my mailbox and I can now see my 365 account as a full delegate in my mailbox settings. I did this because my 365 account was not an option when adding delegate through EAC, I assume because it has no Office license or mailbox so it is not in the list of users to add as delegate.However, even though I can now see my 365 account has full access to mailbox, I continue to get error when going through restore wizard and entering my credentials and 2FA code.Is there anything more I need to do or am missing about granting my 365 admin account access to user

I currently have a Veeam Backup & Replication v12 environment running on Windows Server. I have acquired a new server and plan to migrate my backup infrastructure to Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) v13 in order to benefit from immutability and the enhanced security features provided by the appliance.I would appreciate it if you could share your experience and best practices regarding this migration.Specifically, I am looking for guidance on the recommended procedure to migrate from Veeam Backup & Replication v12 on Windows Server to Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) v13, while preserving existing backup jobs, repositories, configuration, and historical backups.Any feedback, lessons learned, or official migration steps would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance for your support.

hello, using VBAR, i exported an agent backup to .vhdx.now, i need to take .vhdx and create a hyper-v virtual machine, so i can boot the image.i checked the veeam docs, this forum and the internet, but i could not find a clear answer.please advice, thanks much, david

Hello Expert, I am getting below error during windows agent backup. Basically job was in hung stat on VBR so i stopped the job and restarted the services on agent servers. we tried to recover the backup but its failed with error "Job unexpected failed" in error log i could see below error. These nodes backup was running fine since last few years. Since this node belongs to DB we cant reboot it. Hi guys, Yesterday we attempted to upgrade our VBR server from V12.3.2.4465 to V13.0.2.29 but were met with the below error during the installation process -  The upgrade failed and did not allow us to retry at all. Certain options were greyed out - Checking Apps and Features, Veeam reported that it was upgraded but the app was inaccessible. -   In the end, we were forced to back out of out upgrade.Has anyone seen this before? ShaunB.

Hi,We have a client which has Veeam Windows Agent free edition version 13 installed. The agent back up to a local USB disk. Now the client would like to have a second job to back up to our Veeam Cloud Connect console.However we still have VSPC version 8.1.0.21999 installed and our Cloud Connect Server is at level 12.3.3I know ideally we should upgrade our infrastructure to version 13 and also the VSPC console. Question is: Is it possible to add the client with the new Windows agent to our VSPC without needing to downgrade the Window agent? Ideally I’d like to install the management agent to the client laptop and use the already installed Windows agent which converts to a license version and install the second job to back up to the data center.I don’t like the idea to upgrade the infrastructure in a rush for that client.Thanks,

They want a detailed description but truncate it at about 2.000 characters :("Provide a detailed issue description and error messages." field does not accept more than that.Usually I prepare my issues in text editor and in the end copy/paste into support portal.Now I realize only half of it made it through while I don't have my original any more.I'd expect the GUI at least to give a warning. Noone serious will type his message into some web form initially and realize the input no longer works as he’s typing live.Who can fix that? Open a case for it? ;)

Hello. I am a single user, and I have a Windows 11 Home mid-range gaming PC with a 1 terabyte internal SSD for personal use. I presently have Veeam Agent for Windows (free edition, can do only one job at a time). It was 176 megabytes. It backs up my filesystem to an external 1 terabyte mechanical hard disk. There are no virtual machines here. I figured out how to use Agent without problems. It works like a charm. Set and forget. I want to add a second job, being a whole-volume-to-external hard disk job. But the free version of Agent can’t do two jobs for free. In fact, I wouldn’t mind a third job, which is to backup my most sensitive files more often. I would buy a license for Agent, but they’re only available in the UK in packs of 5! I downloaded Backup & Replication Community Edition, which is 17.9 gigabytes. It is said to allow up to 10 jobs at once. It is obviously much more powerful and gargantuan than Agent. I can’t figure out how to use it. I don’t have a separate server. I

We are using Veeam Data Cloud Vault for offsite copies of our backups. When I look at the copy properties in VBR console, I see under the “Immutable Until” column a whole lot of restored points that say Expired with a date in the past. What does this mean?If they are expired does that mean I can delete them and if so, how would I do this?Many ThanksRoy

Previously, we were able to CTRL+C rows from the Tape Infrastructure tab and paste them into an Excel sheet for tracking. Now when copying the rows and pasting into Excel, it results in empty cells. Pasting into notepad and other text editors shows blank spaces as well. Is this some sort of bug that anyone else is experiencing?

Quick question.How do I view the attachments that I previously uploaded to a case?Just to make sure they're there.I have a feeling attachments from my email responses do not get attached to the case (although noone reacts on it even though I explicitly refer to those filenames) I’m asking because I had a Zoom session with one of the support guys and he only looked at my screen for a second before telling me how to proceed, however it was the exact screen I already attached to one of my responses as an e-mail attachment.Thanks.

Just throwing this out to the community/Veeam to see what comes back!In reviewing V13 B&R Release notes I see that a really cool feature called Azure Instant Recovery is available, which does exactly that, recovers your VM directly from object storage to Azure and then you can finalize back to a normal managed disk. I’m currently embarking on a couple of Veeam Disaster Recovery Orchestrator gigs and in reviewing its capability to recover into Azure it only seems to support the streaming of the backup, like a standard restore where you have to wait for the whole backup to be recovered and processed, and then you can turn the recovered machine on.What I am curious about is if there are any roadmap plans/ feature requests to have Veeam DR Orchestrator do instant recovery to Azure as part of its orchestration to get things online much faster at scale… I still haven't tested Instant recovery to Azure with B&R so outside of sounding super slick, I cant comment on its useability or pe

Hello,I'm hitting a wall as we do not necessarily want to configure OS credentials for each and every single VM. Sure we can pre-deploy SSH keys, play with Tag to identify the Guest OS (different types of authentication between Windows/Linux) yadda yadda, but there must be a simpler way.I have tried with a Linux VM:1. installed deployment kit, we could just predeploy it everywhere automatically2. it listens on 6160 (installer service IIRC)3. When running a job using Guest OS credentials: "Use management agent" it doesn't even talk to 6160 but claims that it's falling back to trying to connect to guest since transport service is not availableWhy isn't it just installing it using installer service? Is it possible at all to use VBR in some kind of "agent" mode (while veeam optimally takes care of updating the agents as it sees fit)?Or do we have to use it in this shady ephemeral client "access-all and install whatever I like" mode?What is deployment kit then good for anyway?Thanks 

Dear Veeam Community,I hope you can enlighten me.We have the goal to setup endpoint backups without the use of a vpn.We installed veeam b&r & cloud gateway on a test server so far.Now whe thought we could like generate an agent for a tenant and then install that agent to endpoints of this tenant to be able to backup files of the endpoint via the cloud gateway direkcly into the configured tenant backup repository.At this point we’ve tried a lot and I doubt that this will work the way we intended.It seems like the cloud gateway is used to connect different vbr servers and save their backups in a service providers repositories. But that wouldnt solve the problem that the customer needs an own vbr and a vpn to have a connection between his endpoints and his vbr server in order to back the endpoints up to the service provider. (Endpoint → Tenants VBR Server → Cloud Gateway → Service Providers Repositories)Is there any chance to make it work like this:Agent on Endpoint → Cloud Gatewa

When I try to do this after specifying an output directory of /home/amonra I get:which doesn’t help lots.  What are you using /tmp when I explicitly gave an output directory where there’s loads of space.Now I guess I need to massively enlarge /tmp which is a problemD.

I am not able to replace my Veeam Backup and Replication certificate with a new .pfx. When I try to install the .pfx from the Options->Security->Install menu in the B&R Console it returns an error “Certificate’s Private Key is Empty”. I have verified I created the .pfx correctly using OpenSSL and combining the .cer with the .key. I have verified the .key is in fact a private key and not a public key. I have verified the .pfx key permissions have the appropriate read/write for the Veeam service account to access the key. The .pfx certificate is good with a valid private key. Why can’t it be installed on Veeam Backup and Replication. In order for me to upgrade Veeam B&R from version 12 to version 13 I require a certificate with the Basic Constraints extension. I now have a certificate with Basic Constraints as a .pfx but I cannot install it to Veeam B&R.

Ok guys, maybe I’m completely stupid.How do I upload a script file to /var/lib/veeam/scripts using console?I go to the Files tab and browse to the directory. I can edit, rename, delete files, create directories, but how do I simply upload a file!?ThanksLOL

The case product is Veeam Backup & Replication version 12.1.2.172We copied data from a main Veeam repository to a secondary offsite Veeam repository for backup copy job seeding.The previous server that held the copy jobs was replaced after it died. Copied backups are visible under Home > Backups > Disk (Imported) on repository Backup copy job Map Backup dialog shows only the repository node and no selectable imported backup chains beneath it.Regular backup job Storage > Map backup dialog shows the imported backup chains are selectable, We created the data using the Copy Backup button.We were not prompted for an encryption password during repository rescan. we imported the backups but its not showing on the list to map for backup copy.Is it because the Backup jobs and backup copy jobs use different chain formats and metadata, and a backup copy chain can be mapped only to a backup copy job, not to a regular backup job; conversely, a regular backup-job chain is not a valid se

Hello.I have three servers: one is EnterpriseManager, the second is VeeamBackup, and the third has the Veeam console installed. When I launch the Veeam console on the backup server, I get the error "failed to load license from backup services." I looked at the logs and see that the client versions match. I see that a connection attempt is being made, but the connection is being closed. I don't understand why. I tried TNC fqdn for the backup server - port 9392, as well as port 9396, and there were no errors..  I changed the names and IP addresses in the logs. I don't think they're needed for analysis. Hi,I noticed that I have two running backup jobs since mid May and it appears they are stalled. From the same job I get success emails each day. It appears the backups job were running fine at the scheduled time. Kind of overlap.Maybe the stalled job are leftovers when I upgrade my VBR to 13. I’m not sure. I shutdown the server twice and the stalled jobs reappears. I can right click on it and press stop, but even after hours nothing happens.How can I get rid of the running instances? I enclose two screenshotsThanks,Edy
