Hi, I’m looking at a problem where the retention policy only gets applied hours after the job completes, seems to be just after midnight. It’s a reverse incremental job, repository is set to per VM. It causes a nerror as the tape job(not using veeam) tries to copy the file but it’s missing. The job is set to 28 days retention and its always the last vrb that is missing. Is this the normal expected behavior ? I suspecting that maybe it is as the restore point gets deleted soon after midnight. thanks
Dear Community, our installation is based on a single Hyper-V host with 3 VMs. Veeam v11 community was running fine until I upgraded to v12.Software is installed on a Win10 dedicated PC. When launching the V12 console, it asks for an Host upgrade which arrives to an error:“failed to upgrade host components. error: veeam distribution service is not installed”Do you know how to install such service on host?thank you for your testimonials and help
I am a new user on Veeam Backup and Replication 12, as I wanted to use as tool to backup my NAS device under Unstructured Data Backup route. I have some questions after creating my backup job.Since the application was installed on my own Windows PC, I cannot keep it open all time when the backup work is on the way, while I afraid if my backup files may get corrupted after many interruptions. So I want to know if any possible way that the backup will not interrupted even my PC was shut down? Is adding a backup proxy a solution? Due to thinking the above, I rented a cloud server, using Windows Server 2022, but when I tried to add it as backup proxy with my credentials related to access of my rental cloud server, it did not work. I wonder what is the issue?
Hello,is there a way to failback after a manual failover? On my situation, I have one host (esxi) with some vms including the Veeam vm (all components: proxy, server, consolle etc) and another one host where I store some replicas vms. In case the first host become offline (including the Veeam vm), I could power on manually replicas on the other host, but how to failback to the original host when it become online again? Obviously Veeam server at this point doesn’t know that I have done failover.. is there a way to consolidate each replica on original vm ?I know it is not the best situation but at the moment there is no other options.thanks!
I'm getting the following error in my Veeam replication job. This problem is sometimes solved. But I started to get a few more replication jobs. Has anyone seen this error before and know the solution?
Hi, I have a protection group setup with multiple Windows PC’s (all running Agents managed by B&R) and I would like to perform a full backup on one of the machines (vs. all machines). Is that possible? I know I can select the machine and do a Quick Backup, but I think that does an incremental backup and not a full backup. I would like to do this because I found that the existing backup is corrupt (I get a decompression error when I try to restore it). Separately, is it possible to delete the corrupted backup from the Backup Repository? And is it possible to scan all the backups to make sure no other ones are corrupt? Thank you and happy 4th for those in the US!
In this KB https://www.veeam.com/kb4027 The Huawei Plug-In for Veeam Backup & Replication reached End-of-Life on 2022-04-22 and is no longer available. VBR cannot call Huawei storage with it’s API to complete the backup job with storage’s snapshots. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/system_requirements.html?ver=110In user guide of VBR v11, Veeam Backup & Replication does not offer integration with Huawei storage. According to the above, Veeam VBR cannot support any backup integration with Huawei storage. If the environment only includes VMware ESXi 7 and Huawei storage, what is recommended backup mode can be selected in VBR v11?
As we all (must) know, when you have e.g. yearly and monthly restore points for multiple machines in one chain on a ‘classic’ backup repo, you can delete the monthly backups from this repo by deleting the according files (VBK, VIB, VBM). This allows to manually keep the repo and only allocate storage for yearly backups. How do you achieve this on object storage ? I can delete machines from a backup, but then all restorepoints are affected. The same granularity to delete some points in the chain would be nice. This helps to save storage on public cloud storage accounts that were previous used to store monthly and yearly backups, but now to keep more backup points, the customer only want’s to keep the yearly backups because he already builded a monthly chain on another repo.
Hello Forum Members,I'm currently using Veeam Backup and am keen on configuring an automatic power-off for the system once the backup process is completed. Could anyone kindly provide guidance on how to set up this feature, or direct me to the relevant documentation?Your insights and assistance would be highly valuable.
Hi all, I have a question about RMAN Backup. I've been testing RMAN Backup at a customer recently. For security reasons, they have blocked access to DB and RMAN with the OS account and only allow access with the DB account 'sys'. I know Veeam recommends that use an OS account (typically ‘oracle’) that belongs to the 'dba' group and has ‘SYSDBA’ privileges but, this is company's security policy. This doesn't work, so the plug-in won't install, and I can't run the RMAN script. My case is not the first one in the world.Veeam support team just tells me to assign permissions to the OS account (which is irresponsible). Is there any workaround? Thanks in advanced !

Cleaning tape CLNU00 is in unrecognized media and checking on the properties Wear is N/A. Is there anyway we can change to number of usage?
So, my backups were not running and it was giving me DB is not synchronized error, I tried to resolve it but I couldn’t resolve it. So, then I made a new Backup Policy and added a new storage, but now a VM 2.8 TB (2TB used) has took more than 65 hours and it's still not completed. So, can anyone look into this matter urgently?
Hello Veeam Community,I hope this message finds you well.I'm reaching out to inquire about the possibility of using Veeam to protect Azure Arc enabled SQL Managed Instances (SQL MIs) on Azure Stack HCI. Currently, it's my understanding that Veeam does not support this functionality. It support only Azure SQL MI.Looking ahead, I'm eager to learn more about the potential for future Veeam support for backing up Azure Arc SQL MIs. Specifically, I have the following questions:Is there a roadmap or timeline outlining potential support for this feature? Are there any ongoing discussions or plans within Veeam for integrating Azure Arc SQL MI backup capabilities? Can you provide any insights or information regarding Veeam's future plans in this area?Any assistance or clarification on these points would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
I encountered the above error when using a new Windows server. I'm certain that communication between servers is normal, and the ports are open. I've successfully added several servers of the same type without any error. And I've tried the following:Disabling the firewall and antivirus software. Adding a new account with administrator privileges. Using the IP address instead of the DNS name. Checking the registry or services to ensure they don't affect the relevant services. However, this issue still persists. My server is not within a domain, and this server is not a virtual machine
I removed the veeam B&R server and Enterprise manager from the domain due to security issues, and now I want to know if it is possible to log in to these servers, which are workgroups, with domain users ?Is there a best practice?

We have two DCs running VMware clusters that have independent vcenters managing each of the clusters. A instance of Veeam B&R instance is proposed to be deployed in each DC to backup the local clusters. IN addition, there will be replication of some of the VMs across the DCs using Veeam B&R instance. Multiple packs of Veeam VUL licenses have been procured for all the VMs in both clusters. Need to understand on how we should be splitting the licenses across the two instances and the impact of VMs being replicated on the license consumption.
We have several Synology NAS devices that we would like to essentially backup to tape to take offsite via our monthly tapes. I stumbled upon an article about backing up files to tape and hitting the 10GB limit on the SQL Express DB. I’m not sure if this would be an issue for us or not. We’re on 12.1.2.172 Enterprise Plus Edition. Would this be an issue for us and we’d need to migrate our DB to our MSSQL Server (which we have and could possibly do). File to tape limitation - R&D Forums (veeam.com) Apart from that, I’m also interested in the best way to tackle this. Would it be best to backup directly to tape OR backup to a repository and then process said backup to tape? None of the current NAS devices are on our 10Gbps infrastructure. We think we have a way around that by using Synology Replication replicating the shares (as read-only) to one of our NAS which do have 10Gbps interfaces which would help when writing to tape.
What does the deleted_files_...log indicate in Malware detection log? Is veeam removing files from the production server or the backups?

Hello,I import agent backup into VBR, now how i can remove this from VBR?
I've been using Veeam Agent for Windows for a bit, and have successfully used backups to restore individual files. I wanted to upgrade my NVME system drive to a larger one, so I figured I would try using the restore.I made sure my Windows 10 was up to date, updated Veeam to the latest version, created a new recovery ISO, and created a fresh backup. I then swapped in the new NVME and booted from a recovery USB. I stepped through the wizard, selected system volumes only (there is a data SSD I don’t need to restore); I did not use the Manual restore. After it copied everything to the new drive I rebooted, and then was stuck in a boot loop which ultimately ended in a recovery environment. Looking through the manual, there is a note about driver injection, so I tried again and disabled driver injection, still stuck in a loop. I put the original NVME back in and started looking for answers - any insight appreciated.
