Hi All,I am new the the community and fairly new to Veeam and was wondering if anyone would mind sharing their own opinions and/or pitfalls  experienced using the Inline Entropy Analisis feature?My organization uses Veeam for Vsphere backup and DR and I have been asked to gather information prior to using in production.   I sounds great but from what I’ve read so far it has its limitations. Has anyone experienced any performance issues with backups or any other gotchas?   Have you found the feature useful?  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!

Sad I can’t attend in person this year but it’s just too busy. Work with people retiring as well as training new staff, and after hours it seems to be weddings, moving to a new house, and gigs with the band leaving little time for much else.   I’ll attend virtually this year. Really looking forward to hearing about the potential of a future release, and some of the fine tuning on the malware detection.  Veeam is already such a feature rich solid product that I can’t even think of the next features they will integrate.  I’m looking forward to seeing my Veeam friends post’s and photos from the event. Miami last year was a blast.  Hopefully we are all fortunate and lucky enough to see each other in a few months. 

Hi, I am designing the replacement architecture for our Veeam Backup environment and need some help understanding where the traffic flows when using hardened repositories in a SOBR. Our current environment we have the backup server at a remote location with direct attach storage and a backup proxy at our data center with direct attach storage.   Each day incremental backups run at the datacenter writing backups to the backup proxy which are then copied to the backup server at the remote location.  Each month synthetic full backups are created at the remote location.  The hardware is end of life and needs to be replaced. I would like to keep the backup server and backup proxy and utilize hardened Linux repositories at both sites.   The primary backups would be configured with a 14 day retention period and incremental backup mode.   The backup copy location would consist of 3 Linux servers with 28 8TB SSDs set up as hardened Linux repositories.

I just got all of our systems upgraded to v12.  With that said, I have two clients using hardened repo’s and two different people set them up, neither of them were me, and the system I’m working on now - the engineer that set that up left the company and moved on a couple months ago.  I planned on dipping into these a while ago but never had the time and am now thrust into it.  And my linux skills are still fairly basic, maybe intermediate at best.So here’s what I have:The configuration, not that I think it matters, but is a Ubuntu VM running on a Synology NAS with a virtual disk mounted to the VM.  I upgraded from v11 to v12 but the repository became unavailable during this process.  Single-use credentials are in place and I think I’ve mostly got around the learning curve on this, but can’t quite make connections on things.There are two accounts, I’ll call them “repouser” and “admin”.  Repouser is the account that should have permissions to the repo at /mnt/vee

Perhaps the Service Provider section of the R&D Forums is a better place to ask, but I figured I’d check here to see if anyone has an easy button for resetting MFA on an AD login specified by AD group for an Admin in the Service Provider Console. I reloaded my phone and the Duo app didn’t import my 3rd party MFA logins.  Fortunately, I have other admin logins I can use.So far what I’ve gotten is that you have to apparently use the REST API (which seems silly to me if that’s the case, feature request coming up…..) because the user only exists in an AD group that was specified for access.  While I’m not great with API’s, the the Swagger UI should make things easier. That said, I haven’t yet figured out how to authenticate with Swagger using an account that has MFA enabled.  I might be able to get it once I get past that hump.  I was hoping that if I disabled the MFA requirements, I could log in and reset MFA from the user access, but it appears to prompt for MFA once

I had a few questions about backup from onsite computers to the cloud. I am currently using the community edition of veeam backup and replication. The backups are currently going to onsite storage. Does the community edition has the capability to backup to cloud storage? If so how? Is there any difference between the community edition and the essential edition aside from the number of workloads they can support? I see that veeam supports backups to AWS, Azure, and Google. Does veeam support backing up to other cloud storage providers?

Actually, we are using tape infrastructure and want to take file level backup to tape. we tried to create file to tape job, but no luck. we reflected only Veeam server in source option. why does not show virtual infra in source tab or any other system/ server?  No need backup of Veeam serverHow to take virtual infra file level backup on tape?Please suggest

Hello, is it supported to have Hyper-v VM with bitlocker enabled inside the guest for encrypting the data disk ? 

This is going to be my first time setting up Veeam ONE (Enterprise Manager?). Where is some good documentation on the product as far as functionality goes. Also, what are some, if any, best practices for setting it up? Should I run it in directly on the VBR server or spin up it’s own VM? Anything will help at this point.  Thanks in advance!

I am trying to upgrade 11a (11.0.1.1261_22020302) to V12.1 via iso and when it gets to step 3 (Upgrading Veeam Explorers) a popup says that it can't find VeeamExplorerForSQL.msi_explorers.  Error: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.It is looking for that file in this location (which does not exist):C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp\80ca74a8-4c01-451b-b8df-3d76e7abf376\FixFiles\I can't find it anywhere on the machine.  I did find an old log file that references that file that references version 9.5.  I found that file inside an old 9.5 update.  I extracted it and put it in the location asked for, but it still does not like it. 

Hi there in Virtual World :)Running Veeam 11 - We experienced a complete full “Files to Tape” backup when the daily Tape job ran for the first time after entering Daylight Saving Time (DST) last weekend.ALL files in our backup Disk repository (xx TB) - that means UNCHANGED Veeam backup files from the last 4 months - was all sent to Tape once again - taking several job-runtime days to finish - and filling up a lot of new Tapes, which we needed to supply into the Tape library.Have anybody else experienced similar issues?As far as I have read  - Veeam operates in the UCT format - which should not be sensitive due Server time changes or DST - except changes in the local job time schedule:Daylight savings time - Veeam R&D Forums

This is probably a relatively complicated one, but also not a critical issue for us as there’s sufficient workarounds. Not something I want to go through the trouble of a support ticket with at this time. Hoping a community member can make the seemingly complicated uncomplicated. Veeam 12.1. We have a number of systems in our environment that we use the Veeam Agent for Windows to back up. We are primarily on Nutanix AHV for our virtualization. The backups seem to work just fine. When doing some recent restore testing, we noticed something. The goal of the restore testing was to test restoring these agent backups to our Nutanix AHV cluster. When using “Restore entire VM to Nutanix AHV...” option, during the wizard when I get to the storage container page, it shows the computer, but with no disks. What I then found was that this “no disk” symptom also occurs if I use the “Instant Recovery to Nutanix AHV”, but it actually gives an error message of “

Looking to migrate hundreds of VMware VMs from one vcenter to another.  Different vcenter versions that don’t allow online vmotion.I’ve tried Veeam Quick Migration.  Works well but with one major hassle: you can’t select the port group mapping so after each VM is migrated you have to manually map each NIC of each VM, connect it, and power it on.I’ve tried Veeam CDP permanent failover.  Works great but with one major hassle:  All the backups are still referencing the old VMs rather than the ones you failed over to.  So now the backup chain is broken and must re-add all the VMs to the jobs.CDP is so close to being perfect but for that one flaw.  Anyway to avoid it? 

Hi Everyone,I am wondering if there is a license for Veeam ONE only (not VUL for Data Platform Advanced) as this license can be used to monitor the Virtual Infrastructure workloads that are not protected by VBR as the VUL is for 10 instances which is covered the backup instances and VONE monitoring for them but what I want to achieve is monitoring the others in the virtual environment, is that possible ? as I read in Veeam Licenses documents but still confused.Appreciate your cooperation

I posted the below on Reddit, let me know your thoughts...We're in talks at work to make a new GFS repo where we keep X daily Y weekly Z monthly and maybe a single yearly on the Veeam repository and also take a copy monthly/yearly from said repo to tape and then off to the safe deposit box at the bank. What if I lose my repo and all that data. Yeah, I might have a few monthly/yearly at the bank, but I'm hosed on the daily/weekly side. All that history, lost. Is anyone have a redundancy approach they're using? We're thinking about using a couple Synology boxes in in HA mode basically where they basically stay in sync with each other. Let me know what you think. I also think we could use a second Synology box do do backup copy jobs and keep the same GFS retention points there...

I am trying to backup a physical server with a 81.7TB volume using B&R version 12.1.1.56 and Veeam VSS Hardware Provider version 6.1.0.349.  I have deployed the Veeam agent in managed mode and created a Backup Proxy of the physical server which installed the Veeam Backup VSS Integration and Veeam VSS Hardware Provider.  According to Veeam a volume greater than 64TB can be backed up using the Veeam VSS Hardware Provider.  I don’t know how to reconfigure the managed physical server and/or backup job of the server in the Veeam Backup and Replication Console to use the Veeam VSS Hardware Provider.  I do not have any option to Manage Volumes on my ribbon under this managed server as the Veeam instructions dictate.  I have run a Rescan on my managed server which successfully completes finding all disks and volumes but still no option to Manage Volumes on my ribbon.  How can I ensure my managed server and backup job are properly using the Veeam VSS Hardware Provider?  Everything else i

Hello Guys,So i had a Hyper V server that was joined to the domain, and it was succesfully onboarded to veeam.Now it was removed from the domain and built-in local admin was renamed from "Administrator to new_username"Now we cannot onboard the sever to Veeam using the local admin with the new renamed name.I have updated the serverI have added the admin account to other admin groups on the serverUpdated WindowsStill no successAny suggestions would be helpful.

Hello, I have made upgrade from Licences 9.5b to 11a Community Edition without any Problem, but by upgrading to Version 12 Community Edition it gives me this: “[Error] Private fixes detected. Please contact our Customer Support to remove the following private fixes that are not supported by the new product version: TFS000100”There is no thread about TFS000100. In Registry there are no “Private fixes” found. Any idea?
