I've upgraded Veeam Backup & Replication from version 11 to 12.1 and now the Veeam Backup Service won't start with Error 1064: An exception occurred and event:

Service cannot be started. System.Exception: Unable to find distributive veeamtransport_*.deb

This is a strange problem, as it refers to a .deb file, which should not be a problem for me when starting the Veeam backup service.
Did you have any error messages during the update?

I would open a Veeam ticket.
Alternatively, if you have a config backup, you could try uninstalling Veeam, then reinstalling and then restoring the Veeam config from the config backup. But only do this if you are sure that you have the password of the config backup.

Hi @davidfainhstein -

Welcome to the Community! Have you tried to run a repair installation of Veeam to see if Veeam can replace the file that seems to have gotten removed or changed somehow?

I would suggest the repair as Shane posted and if that does not help then contact support.

During the final stage of the update, it failed during the 8th faze of starting the services. I do have a config backup. Will try to uninstall end reinstall on Sunday. Thanks.

Hey.

Yes, did tried to repair. Same result. Will try to completely uninstall and reinstall…

Keep us posted on how it goes @davidfainhstein so we can mark a solution to the problem to assist others that may run in to the same problem.

Just wanted to report back that complete uninstall & reinstall fixed the problem.

Thank you all for the help!

Glad to hear you resolved the issue.
