I was looking for an alternative to Macrium Reflect for my home PC backup after I learned that their free version was no longer supported, and quite a few people recommended Veeam, so here I am having downloaded the free community version, but now that I’ve installed it, I think I’m in way over my head lol I am not a professional and have no experience or education in IT, but I have been able to follow instructions well enough to troubleshoot and maintain my own machine in most cases. All I want is to set up a straightforward and regular (as in repeating regularly) backup for my home pc on a local external drive, no servers, no ports, not on any cloud, but I can’t even get past the login screen. Having read this page in the help center it seems like I’ve either missed a few steps (I have no server to provide credentials for) or I no longer have the info it needs (if the credentials it wants are the ones I used to download the program, I don’t have them since I used throwaway email and
I hear sharepoint personal use onedrive in the backend, so are we need to backup both services?
Currently we backup our M365 using Veeam Data Cloud (VDC) including to backup SharePoint site.I have one SharePoint site with large size (around 12TB) and the VDC backup this site need time more than 3 weeks or more for incremental.Contacting the VDC support and they said the backup was throttling by Microsoft.Second app already registered also. From VDC point of view, what can we do to improve this?
Best practices for a one time back with a 1-year retention period in cloud and 30 days on prem. Cloud is Wasabisince it is a one-time backup, how do I set that back up to be 30 days onsite and 1 year in the cloud?
Here is a report I developed in PowerShell to document Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructures. If you have any recommendations it will be welcome!Project Info:AsBuiltReport.Veeam.VBR is a PowerShell module used to generate an as built report on the configuration of VEEAM Backup & Replication Infrastructure. Veeam VBR As Built Report works in conjunction with AsBuiltReport.Core.Module InstallationInstall-Module -Name AsBuiltReport.Veeam.VBRReport URL:https://github.com/AsBuiltReport/AsBuiltReport.Veeam.VBRSample Report:AsBuiltReport.Veeam.VBR
OK, so this will be a bit odd. I have a Windows cluster set up as a file server. It’s a bit on the large size (11 TB - yes, TB :-)). Here’s what I want to do. We backup data to NAS (Dell Data Domain). Then we also copy to tape and send off site. So here’s what I want to do with this huge job.I want to backup to NAS incrementally every day, and a FULL backup on weekend (either Fri night or Sat, either is fine). The problem is .. I am currently limited on the number of tape drives (LTO 7 drives). And so what I want to do is:copy to tape the incremental daily, but only write the FULL on Thu (Thu is the day when I have the lightest load of jobs writing to tape). And I don’t see a way to do that.I see ADVANCD options on Tape jobs for “Process latest full backup only”. But what I want to do is to write out the FULL back on Thu, even though it was created 5 days earlier, and without any incrementals made since the full (i.e., no “chain”).Meanwhile, I *also* want the daily incrementals to be
Recently found out that the Virtual Router’s port 443 is open. PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Test-NetConnection -ComputerName 10.3.14.205 -Port 443ComputerName : 10.y.y.yRemoteAddress : 10.y.y.yRemotePort : 443InterfaceAlias : _something.netSourceAddress : 10.z.z.zTcpTestSucceeded : True I tried using systemctl and service commands to verify status. Both do not work in this strip down linux version. Appreciate suggestions on how to remove apache2 or prevent it from starting at boot.
Orchestrator Error, Veeam One Monitoring Service cannot access its database.Initially got the error, “The embedded Veeam Backup and Replication server is not Healthy, state = Communication Error”.So digging more into the issue showed the error above. When I ran VeeamOne client, it said it cannot connect to the Veeam One server.I noticed at the top of the client it shows Community EditionThis is weird, why would it say Community Edition, if VRO is showing a valid license I ran the Veeam One setting utility and was able to connect successfully I opened a ticket to Veeam support and we have been going back and forth for almost 2 weeks now and no results yet. Hoping you folks can give me ideas where to go next.
Hi guys,I have a file backup containing several NetApp shares, and at every backup the following error appears in the statistics: Error: Canot Find some NAS backup metadata sectionsIt is resolving that at “Retry 1” but it does this every single backup, and I want to know the root cause of it - even if it gets resolved eventually.(someone told me it might be that backup job contains a lot of NetApp shares, so it can’t “deal” with all of them then it drops few of them and then retires to back them up individually and with success… but i don’t know...) Please let me know if any of you have had the same issue and/or how did it get resolved Thanks!! 😁
When i migrate linux VM from vmware to hyper-v using instant recovery, the VM can boot up but when i migrate to production and the VM rebooted then the VM can’t boot up and stuck in dracut.Anyonw know why?
I was able to setup and add/use the initial disk to the Backup Repositories. However, I’m thinking, it we reach the maximum drive size, we would need to add a second immutable disk to the Backup Repositories. In doing so, I encountered the following error:Since this is a different mount point, I’m assuming it should work. I tried re-adding the veeamuser (username used to add the original immutable disk) to sudo group and reset the password but still unable to add the 2nd immutable disk to the Backup Repo. My objective is to create an immutable SOBR that would allow adding disks as needed. What do you think am I missing here? Thanks
Hey folks,I work for a Veeam Reseller/MSP and have a quick question about per-VM backup chains. We have a tenant who's switching their local backups from legacy to per-VM format. On our end, all of our Cloud Connect repos are already set up for per-VM.Once they make the switch locally, will their backup copy jobs to us just keep going with incrementals since our side is already per-VM? Or will this trigger a new full backup on the service provider side?Ideally, we’re hoping the chain just continues without needing a new full. Just wanted to check if anyone’s been through this and can confirm. Thanks!
Hi Everyone, Last week at VeeamON I was asking people about SIEMS, if they are using them and if so which ones?I got a myriad of answers. So I wanted to put up a poll here asking if you use and which one?
Hello everybody,I could not find any Solution in VEEAM Backup and Replication Console, neither searching on the Internet. But I want to request a Feature, so we are able to create Folders in the Backup-Job-View to organzie Backup-Jobs. For example:Daily Jobs SQL Jobsetc. Thanks in advance.

Hi,I’m using VBR 12.3.1.1139 and have already successfully migrated the configuration database to a local PostgreSQL server (which was installed during the VBR update/setup).Now I’d like to move from the local db server to a centralized one. Therefore I started the configuration “Restore” process and again chose”migrate”. Typed in hostname, database name, name and password of native authorization. But when clickin on “connect”, I get a dialog (from the db server?) that the connection is refused, the phrase is “no pg_hpa.conf entry for host <hhhh>, user <uuuu>, database <dddd>, SSL off”The problem seems to be “...database <dddd>...” whereas <dddd> is NOT what I entered into the migration dialog under “database name”. The centralized pg server only permits a certain database for each of their users. Our pg server tells me that VBR wants to connect to <dddd> where <dddd> is in fact the name of the user VBR is running with!? e.g. “BCKSRV2\horst”.Thi

Hi all,I have a feature request: can it be made possible to offload backups of Azure SQL databases created with Veeam for Microsoft Azure from VBR to Wasabi or other object storage using a copy job?At the moment this is possible for Azure VM's of which backups are made on blob storage. For Azure SQL it is only possible to make backups on blob storage so there is actually no offsite backup possible…
Hello I am running into this issue; any idea what could caused it
