One of the great features we’ve gotten with V12 is object-lock with Azure S3.@Rick Vanover did a great walkthrough for MS Ignite last year with a V12 beta already.With new storage accounts and containers it works as he explained, which I could prove in a few environments already. My (and some of my customer’s) question now is: can we enable it safely and supportedly on an existing blob bucket with let’s say hundreds of TB of data already inside? First, you would have to enable “version level immutabilty” within the container: Quite easy while creating a new container like Rick has shown, but if you would want to do this afterwards, you first had to enable a policy on the container: Having this policy also makes the container differ from a freshly set-up immutable container. Hello, it’s about Veeam Backup for M365.would it be possible to start a backup job automatically when a previously specified backup is completed?For example:I’ve a Backup Job which safe just Microsoft Teams on a Server A.So when this Backup Job is finished, then start automatically the second Backup Job with Microsoft Teams on a Server B.

Hello to all,I configured Backup Copy Jobs to the second location via VPN.Two WAN Accelerators on source side and one on destination.VM’s with low disks are going perfectly but the problem is the big ones.Our FileServer is arround 7TB. Is it normal to take this long, its the first Backup Copy job without initial seed. 

Is there any way to successfully produce a backup copy job of a set of file shares to a rotate set of USB drives that will be swapped out weekly? If not through the mechanic of the backup copy function maybe another way? Thanks,T   

Hi, I tried my luck with the subreddit but I recon this is a better place for support. I was recently pointed to Veeam products for backing up my local machine onto my NAS server.The machine runs Windows 10 with no VMs, ryzen 5900x, a 2.5gb nic, and it includes 1tb ssd and 1tb nvme (OS) for backup. Hi,I have been trying to understand how the “Restore to MS Azure Iaas” works. I need to know hos this works so i can bring up this feature with our customers.I have an Azure Storageaccount as a SOBR + my local NAS.I hade some failures to achieve a Azure to Azure restore before i found out that restores to Azure wont work when my Performance Tier is online. The process didnt restore FROM Azure as i wanted to test out.When i put the Perfomance Tier in maintenence mode i got it to work! (Thanks Veeam Foums for this!)What i furthermoore found out is that the restore speed from the storage account is far away from the miximum perfomance of 60Gbps / 7500 MB/s.Restore Speed:My restore speed was 169 MB/s,. This can ofcourse be a “OK” speed but i cant find out what the maximum speed can be or what the bottleneck could be for restoring. Conversion Speed:After the data is restored from the Azure storageaccount the data is then converted into a VM.  My concern is really about 2 things - “Documenta

Hi there!I am installing the Veeam agent for Windows (version 5.0.3.4708) on a Windows Server 2012 R2 witch is up for migration this Friday. We’re taking backups to our Veeam server. But directly after I install the software it says that it’s centrally managed. I have scanned trough the Forums and all the KBs on the internet. I have tried recreate the database for the Agent, I have tried uninstalling (deleting anything in the registry that have the name Veeam in it), Tried experimenting with the registry keys (says read only mode = 1) and (managed mode =1)I have tried set those values to zero, and tried to open the application and then it opens, but once I click on “Create backup job” the application hangs. And once I restart the application it just says that it’s in managed mode. I have tried to run the Veeam.Configiration utility witch is in C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint and try to remove the ownership with that, and use the combination of -force, and it just says that it Fays with

If we have established backups for a server, and we add an additional disk to said server, will and should Veeam automatically recognize and start backing up the newly added disk?

Hi,Does anybody has encountered the following odd situation: Situation (a): QNAP NAS full/over quota. When running the Veeam backup, it fails as expected reporting that the target directory is full.Situation (b): QNAP NAS with very little space (32MB left of 2TB). When running the Veeam backup, it hoses the NAS ....Top  Where in the second situation the QNAP NAS can no longer be accessed.  Any already attached ssh session becomes ‘stuck’ as soon as it tries to access the disk.  Also the number of smb process on the QNAP NAS keeps increase over-time. I have a Windows 10 machine with Veeam 11.0.1.1261 running backups remotely to a SMB shared on a QNAP with QTS 5.0.1.2194. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening (i.e. actually get an error from Veeam in the second situation rather than an unresponsive NAS)?Thanks.

Today I want to share with you a specific topic about an upgrade. After Veeam released new v12 in February, a lot of our clients ask to go up with their oldest version.I received various requests for upgrade starting from 9.5 or 9.5U4 Veeam Server. All of these are a consequence of previous updates and I start from VEEAM KB https://www.veeam.com/kb2053 to know path and best practice to do.When I start upgrade (9.5u4 as starting point) I receive this error message So at this point the only solution was remove all components and perform a fresh installation.To do this I need to be sure configuration backup was created with correct version. Everything works great, but I have the following doubt: How does cleaning old immutable backups work?I've noticed that the test repository is running out fast, I'm cleaning it manually as root, but I'd like to know how to deal with this situation.Thanks

I foolishly used an IP address for a ‘temporary test system’ which became a permanent fixture.A change of network schema means the repository is now on a new address.It does not appear to be possible to change the IP address in VEEAM (I should have used a fqdn). I could start again with new backups - but is there a method to resume backups to the same repository after re-defining it? All advice welcomed.Latest v11  

In version 11 we could open the properties of a tape and check on tab Jobs to see which sessions are on this particular tape. We used this to note on the case label and could keep track on which tape has the oldest data. Now we have upgraded to version 12 but this information isn't shown anymore on the Jobs tab at the Tape Properties. How can we enable this information to be shown again.We use a HP Autoloader tape library and Veeam Backup and Replication.

Hi,From a backup I want to try and restore a file. We go through the process in Veeam to browse and restore files but when the file browser pop up window appears it never displays any files from the AWS instance. I left it for a long time and it’s not go that much on the instance. Any idea why this doesn’t work?As an aside, we also can’t restore any instances either so wondered if anyone would know of a paid service we are able to use to help check Veeam is set up for our AWS account correctly. I see snapshots but not much use without being able to restore them.Many thanks,Bob

Did you know that some tax-related data in Japan has to be accessible for 100 years? I only found out as Pioneer have developed a Blu-Ray recorder and relevant media to achieve the certifications necessary to protect this data in THEORY: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/pioneer-new-blu-ray-recorder-and-bdr-promise-100-years-lifespan I say in theory because, discs break all the time, and the standard certainly doesn’t provide any tampering protection in the way of physical damage. And a multi-backup strategy is certainly still key for compliance, but it’s  interesting to see an alternative to tape for long term offline retention. Will it ever catch on? I doubt it. But a good read all the same.

I did a lot of testing with B&R 12 already and I learned a lot so far. But yesterday I ran into a new problem. I have my Backup Server which runs Veeam B&R 12 as domain administrator (using windows authentication to open and run Veeam). Then I have a backup repository on an other machine in my LAN. This machine is equiped with a Tandberg RDX drive. I run full backup jobs every day on these rotating drives. The job shall delete all backups on the disk and run a fresh full backup. This does not work for some reason. So I delete the RDX disks manually (via Windows scheduler) and considered this could be done with a Veeam Pre-Job-Script too. Well, it wont work. I use psexec64.exe to delete content on the machine with the RDX drive. The scipt (.cmd) I wrote works fine under my admin account. No problems when i launch it in cmd or simply double-click it. Script does what it shall do. For some reason this script does not work as Pre-Job-Script. I belive its a problem with a lack of pr

Hi i have two entities running vcenter on the same Netapp 9.8 and sharing same NFS shares. i was wondering if it was possible to use snapshots on both veeam backup server without interfering with each other. Will both instances recognise their own stuff?

We run several Veeam B&R servers with multiple tenants jobs on each.Currently we manually breakdown license instanace use for each tenant.It occured to me, if we could map backup jobs to customers in Veeam Service Provider Console ( VSPC ) we could get that information quickly. In fact, we could have VSPC generate invoices for each tenant even though they are using a B&R server with other tenants.

Hello to all,I would need a advice or a suggestion what would be the best way to setup our backups.We have two sites, one in Vienna, Austria and another one is in Novi Sad, Serbia.We have Synology RS3621xs+ with 80TB on both location.Currently what we have configured is that Backups are going straight to NAS in Vienna and its being sync with Synology built in app Synology Share Sync to our NAS in Novi Sad, Serbia.I tried with Veeam Backup Copy Job through WAN Accelerator but as our biggest VM is 7TB its not that efficient.Please if you have a solution or a suggestion feel free to comment. Any help would be appreciated.
