Oracle plugin backup is stuck in stopping state.

Hi All, Anyone faced this issue or any fixes to resolve this. Am using Oracle plugin for Backup on windows VM, these are stuck is stopping state from yesterday.I tried looking for the Veeam exe agent on VBR as well as agent VM, no process is running, is there a way we can forcibly cancel only these backup’s We could locate the PID’s of these process, however process does not appear under VBR or the oracle VM Task Manager, Process: [64 bit], PID: [19652], SessionId: [0], UID: [fc911f7e-ed08-4bb7-be1f-4a3461f23dda] for the SRV03248Process: [64 bit], PID: [61356], SessionId: [0], UID: [3b69526c-e334-4305-bd33-bcced8fc2944] for the SRV03576Process: [64 bit], PID: [19724], SessionId: [0], UID: [a941f009-e8b7-475a-8fd2-1388653256b6] for the SRV03709Process: [64 bit], PID: [61356], SessionId: [0], UID: [3b69526c-e334-4305-bd33-bcced8fc2944] for the SRV03821

Kindly take a look at the comment section of this post as they are very informative as well.I see a lot of environments shared online with the .local suffix and this made me create a blog post on how to set up a Domain Controller as Recommended by Microsoft. There are numerous articles on this topic on the blog but I have decided to share the latest that was prompted by the above concern.But then, this is a new Active Directory environment. The issue has not been solved for existing AD environments with the .local suffix. Hence, this guide was developed to tackle this problem. vCenter shows disk consolidation requested by Veeam but also displays percentage of completion. What's a good plan to be able to restart the Windows DB VM? See screenshots below.From what I know, it is not a good idea to reboot while consolidation is going on. However, this has been going on for at least 2 days and the DB residing on the server is performing poorly. I have requested the DB folks to try to restart the DB instead of the server but in the event that this would be the only option that is left to do, what is a good way to go about doing a VM reboot. I have disabled the job in Veeam and has cancelled another Veeam request to vCenter to run another consolidation (thoe one showing 0%).

Object lock greater than retention ...what happens??

A customer uses the copy function for capacity tier to instantly copy on-premises Veeam backups (retention of 30 days) to object storage. They’ve configured object lock on the object storage (60 days) that has a duration longer than the local backup policy. As Veeam cannot delete a backup in object storage at 30 days, will it delete it after the object lock expires (60 days) or does the customer need to manually delete the files on object storage?My thoughts are Veeam will clean up those files once the the 60 day lock has expired, but got me scratching my head for sure

MS SQL DB backup to S3

I’ve installed and configured the Veeam MS SQL agent on a MS SQL Server 2022 instance. During the DB backup setup, I can’t select object based repository or my SOBR. What is the best way to transition MS SQL backups to S3? Replication jobs only allow VMs. The Backup Copy and Copy Job only show local repositories.

More than one backup was found for the same job

Running VBR v12.0. Created a backup job. Ran the job and got an error so went back in and try to edit the job. I got the error below. First time, I encountered this error. The backup log just showed the same information. I have a similar job running in our “staging” VBR but not having any error. The backup job is a storage snapshot and does handle SQL transaction logging. I saw in the Veeam’s Forum the same error message but this was for a backup copy job. What do you think is happening here?

State of the Homelab, 2024 Edition

Hi all! I’ve been following along with Michael Cade’s renewed journey into home labbing on twitter at the same time that I’m doing a bit of the same. I’m currently working through the following2x AceMagic AM06Pro (https://www.amazon.com/Computers-Windows-Display-Desktop-Bluetooth/dp/B0BQHBWPYX) upgraded to 64 GB ram and 3 TB of internal disks each for ESXi hosts 1x AceMagic T8 Plus (https://www.amazon.com/ACEMAGIC-Computer-3-Screen-Bluetooth-Computers/dp/B0CQJQPZJX) as a Proxmox host (hopefully) 1 QNAP TS332x for basic iSCSI and object storage 1 Synology 923+ that I’m hoping to do some Veeam related goodness on. Cloud based object storage from 11:11 Systems as well as some vCD compute for VCC In addition I have some resources in AWS that I’ll leverage to do testing and learning with. What are you all doing for labs in modern times? If you are actively using a lab what are you testing, what’s exciting you?

Looking forward to Hyper-V 2025

With the recent announcement that Hyper-V is strategic to Microsoft, as the main focus of Server 2025 you can imagine I've spent more time on the topic than usual lately. I normally don’t post on here, but I figured I'd share. To get the basic stuff out of the way, yes you can Instantly Recovery ‘any’ workload to Hyper-V, and it can be automated with PowerShell - it will probably make it easier at scale. And for those new to Hyper-V with Veeam, on-host backup processing is the way to go. Did you know we recently updated the user guide to explain how Veeam selects VM generation upon arrival?Veeam supports Azure Stack HCI too, and it has been on a much faster release cadence, so a lot of the features may have been seen before - but I think the key take away is that, there is significant forward motion for Hyper-V, and a continued path to purchasing perpetual licenses for it.I wish that central management of Hyper-V was addressed a bit differently. Hi everyoneI run the Solution Architects team at Veeam for the Americas. My team have been working on updating and extending capacity calculators for use by the Veeam team, partners and customers. We worked in close collaboration with Product Management, R&D (i.e. Gostev's teams) and our CIS team to overhaul the formulae and update the user experience. Announcing Support for Oracle Linux KVM!

Hot off the presses! Today, we’re announcing the general availability of the newest entry to our long list of supported hypervisors, with the addition of Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager. As some of you may be aware, Veeam Backup & Replication has been supporting Red Hat Virtualization for several years now, which runs oVirt and KVM under the hood. Although Red Hat has stopped development on RHV in favor of OpenShift, Veeam Backup & Replication will continue supporting RHV as a source until December 2026.But let’s focus on what’s new: Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager support as a source. The process to get up and running is straightforward: just download the oVirt KVM plug-in and install it on your VBR server. Significant increase in incremental backup size (Microsoft 365)

As of the 27th March we have seen a significant increase in incremental backup size for our Microsoft 365 backup… Peaking at 800GB+ on the 31st! We have different jobs configured for different sources, for example we have separate jobs for:User Mailboxes Shared Mailboxes SharePoint Sites OneDrive SitesLooking at the size of each backup job, I think the increase in backup size is primarily due to the user mailbox jobs; the other jobs look ‘normal’ in terms of their size. Is anyone else seeing a sudden increase in backup size in the last couple of weeks? Does anyone have any tips for pinpointing where the increase is coming from?

Agent for Windows recovery boot loop

I've been using Veeam Agent for Windows for a bit, and have successfully used backups to restore individual files. I wanted to upgrade my NVME system drive to a larger one, so I figured I would try using the restore.I made sure my Windows 10 was up to date, updated Veeam to the latest version, created a new recovery ISO, and created a fresh backup. I then swapped in the new NVME and booted from a recovery USB. I stepped through the wizard, selected system volumes only (there is a data SSD I don’t need to restore); I did not use the Manual restore.After it copied everything to the new drive I rebooted, and then was stuck in a boot loop which ultimately ended in a recovery environment. Looking through the manual, there is a note about driver injection, so I tried again and disabled driver injection, still stuck in a loop. I put the original NVME back in and started looking for answers - any insight appreciated.
