Question

Instant recovery of a standalon full backup made from standalone agent

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Hello, Thanks for the great forum.

Lets’ say I have a laptop running VAgent community edition, standalone.
On that agent, I create a standalone full backup onto a usb key.

The laptop has NOT been connected to my Community Backup and Replication Server.

Now, I want to take that standalone full backup from the usb key, plug it into my Veeam Backup and Replication Server and do an instant restore of that full backup.

Is that possible.
If so, all I need to do is do the import and then do the instant restore?
Is there more steps involved?

I could not find the answer in
Importing Veeam Agent Backups
Restoring Veeam Agent Backup to Hyper-V VM

Thanks Much, David

Yes..as long as it’s a FULL. Or, if you have incrementals as well...all increments AND FULL need to be present.

I think the below would give you details from the User Guide:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/performing_restore_tasks.html?ver=13

As always, @coolsport00, thanks for the quick answer.

AFIAK, that link you shared does not really address my issue directly.

But you are always correct, so I can trust that ;wink

ha..well thanks for the confidence! 😊

What are you needing to do for your restore specifically that the link I provided doesn’t fully meet your request? You should be able to recover data, or the whole computer, either to a VM or another physical computer device….depending on the backup type you took - whole computer, volume, folders/files.
