Solved

I have several SQL jobs that currently perform nightly (or weekly) restores of a production database on other servers.  Since we have now migrated to the Veeam Backup and Replication solution, I am trying to accomplish these same tasks within the Veeam environment.  (BTW, we are on Veeam version 11.)  I set up the Veeam PowerShell environment as described here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/powershell/getting_started.html?ver=110#remote and wrote a script to perform a database restore (see attached).I ran the script interactively within a PowerShell session and it completed successfully.  I ran it again as a Windows Scheduled Task and it worked.  However, I can’t get it to run as a SQL Server Agent job. Here’s the error message that I’m receiving:The term 'Start-VESQLRestoreSession' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.Sinc

Hey all, A file backup job started failing when it attempted to run on Saturday the 15th. When the job ran on Friday evening, everything was fine, but it decided to start failing on Saturday. On Friday night, the recent Microsoft patch (kb5009557 2022-01 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809)) was installed after the Veeam job ran so I am thinking that the failure might be due to the update? Currently using Veeam Backup and Replication Build 11.0.0.837 installed on a Windows Server 2019 Hyper-V machine. When looking in Event Viewer, I looked under the Applications and Services Logs tree and the failed job is given an Event ID of 190 with this message, “Job details: Error: Agent: Failed to process method {NasMaster.CreateIfNotExistsJobBackup}: You can't access this shared folder because your organization's security policies block unauthenticated guest access. These policies help protect your PC from unsafe or malicious devices on the network.” I have looked at the network and

I have a question as we are looking to make sure that our backup environment is as recoverable as possible in the event of the most extreme events. We have our VBR server virtualized in HyperV.  We do a backup job for the configuration database.  We also have a replication task setup to replicate the VBR server to our DR location. What we are looking at is that the location that the config database is backed up to is in the primary data center.  What has anyone done to create a task to copy the config database offsite, like to SharePoint or OneDrive or something like that.

Hi Id like to find out what people think the best course of action would be in my circumstances. we have an agent backup job that was running on a WSFC failover cluster file server. this was backup up to a SOBR which was tiered to AWS We have just removed the WSFC cluster in favour of single servers, I have had to create new backup jobs within Veeam (cant use clustered type for non clustered) which was fairly easy my question is what do to with the old jobs, they have backup data attached to them in performance capacity tiers which I don’t want to accidentally remove but I am unsure whether it is best to just disable the job, or remove the protected volumes from the jobs, but I think that if I disable or remove the selections that Veeam wont be able to manage the retention policies thanks!

Hello guys,I think that the product is cool and we are very happy to use it but when we updated to k8s 1.22 we show that its is not supported yet. When do you plan to support it? Thanks

Hi, We are utilizing the RestAPI in VBR11 to manage most of our jobs (reporting, start, stop, etc).It seems that SureBackup jobs are not included in the API, when communication with /api/v1/jobs Is there an roadmap for the API, where we can follow the progress? Or is this already included? :)

Hey guys, can anyone tell the difference in features between the veeam v11 and v11a?can we initiate replication and cdp in site that has veeam v11a to another site that has veeam v11 with patch P20210525 ?

Hello everyone! I’m looking for the first time how to backup a physical windows machine and I notice that is missing something here:  I didn't find where I can choose what proxy will be process this job. I’m still reading help center session, but if anyone have some tip or advice for this kind of workload, please, just let me know.

Hei,Haluaisimme kääntää socket muotoisen lissun VUL muotoon. Miten tämä tehdään ja onko mitään “catchejä” tämän suhteen?Martin

Hi guys, I was reading the helpcenter documents on CDP and found that you should install I/O filter on cluster, is it okay install it on host?

Hello, ishttps://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/v8-new-forward-incremental-forever-backup-confusion-t24239.html#p125277still the thread to read when trying to decide which backup-mode we want to employ? 1 VM is a large file server with ~6-8TB where all other VMs are smaller application servers (~250GB). BRFrank

An excerpt from Veeam Long-Term Retnetion Policy (GFS):  https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/gfs_retention_policy.html?ver=110 says:"As soon as Veeam Backup & Replication assigns a GFS flag to a full backup file, this backup file can no longer be deleted or modified. Also, Veeam Backup & Replication does not apply short-term retention policy settings to the full backup file — that is, Veeam Backup & Replication ignores the backup file when determining whether the number of allowed backup files is exceeded."I have the following configuration to backup vmware and running Veeam B&R version 11: Incremental backups run on weekdays at 9:00 PM, Retention Policy of 7 restore points, and Keep weekly full backups for: 4 weeks. Create synthetic full backups on Sunday.1. When weekly synthetic full backup is created on Sunday, does it run on the same schedule as the daily backup setup at 9:00 PM? According to the article, it will be flagged as weekly GFS with Retention

I know there is a related topic with the same problem but that one is for version 5.0.0 There is a known problem with Windows 11 and the installation of Microsoft SQL Server where the engine will not install unless it is installed on a different drive or VHD.I understand Veeam Agent for Windows uses SQL Server technology which is probably why it fails to install.Question 1: Is Veeam working on a solution independent of Microsoft?Question 2: I installed SQL Server 2019 Express with support for local DB but Veeam Agent for Windows still fails. Is there any way to have Veeam use the existing (operational) engine instead of attempting to install its own SQL engine? I read somewhere that they are using SQL 2012 but I haven’t tried preinstalling that version.Question 3: Is there any way to trick Veeam into installing on a different drive?I use Veeam at work and have been pretty happy with this product for home use. I already temporarily installed another backup solution but would love to go

HelloHope you're all doing well these days.I work for a company in Spain and I would like to ask you about an issue I’m facing with archive offload to AWS S3 storage. We are currently performing backups on a capacity tier (AWS S3) without issues but archive tier offload is failing. Hi, I am backing up VM’s from single ESXI server. At present I have 2 VM and backup runs daily. I notice one VM backup has RED Flag/Play sign. What does it mean, anything to be worried of ? Where can I get read all of the ICON details ?  Thank you. Dwija

Hi guys, I have a query. I am planning to upgrade from v9.5 to v11, the current license which I am using in v9.5, can i use the same in v11. And please don't reply with a link which leads to upgrade to v11 which I have already read and I have a confusion which is why I am asking.

Hi guys,I have a query. When configuring a replication job, we specify a repo to store replica metadata. Where is the replica metadata repo located? in source or target site?

A little help would be appreciatedWe have old VMs (Debian 8) which replicates without problems. But the replication on new VMs (Debian 9) is corrupted, half of the services like SSH or UFW no longer open. The only difference is that the old VMs are Thick and the new ones are Thin.Is it possible that VEEAM Free does not support Thin VM replication? If yes, what can I do?

Good evening folks, got a question for you, hopefully the last one before Christmas, for an “issue” I’ve got with Veeam.B&R has a job that backups a list of vms, and that’s all good. Then I add a vCenter in the structure, and vCenter updates all nodes’ certificate.Ok.At this point, B&R Console needs a refresh and it’ll see all vms as new ones.Perfect, but.Next backup Veeam will save them as full backup, creating a duplicate of the vm in the backup file.Is there any way to avoid it?

Hi all, I am using Veaam Agent on a pc with only one hard drive which has two operating systems (W 11 + Ubuntu 20.04).Is it possible to create a job to backup the complete hard disk (W11 + Ubuntu + Boot partition)?Thank you

How does Veeam license work?

Hi all, I have a followup question to As I described before I’m “forced” (at least for the moment) to put the storage also on the Veeam server itself. Overall there might be the possibibility that there will by ~20-30TB on vib/vkb files.  Can this still be realized within the Veeam VM?What are the alternatives if all data have to be on one physical server? BRFrank

Hey all - We’re trialing Kasten as a way to backup our clusters and also to have a ‘hot’ fail-over cluster in certain environments.Part of this deployment means I have ‘Cluster A’ backup it’s workloads, and ‘Cluster B’ importing them and restoring them to its cluster. The problem we are seeing is when cluster B imports and restores the workload, all our nodePort services are changing to random ports.I know I could go add each service ‘manually’ to cluster B to mitigate, but I’d like to avoid this if possible.I’ve also looked at transforms during import / restore, but I am unable to get the cluster to accept my replacement nodePort. Is there a way to turn this off this random nodePort generation so that we get a 1 - 1 replication of our workloads?Cheers!

New job and one of my tasks is to cleanup VEEAM. Trying to make sure the backup settings are correct and consistent. I’m also renaming the jobs in a logical and consistent manner. First couple of renamed jobs ran last night. I was surprised that a) they did not take a new full and b) they did not create a new folder. I’m using Reverse Incremental. Can I safely rename the folders to reflect the name of the jobs? Will the vbk and vbm ever rename to the name of the job? I assume I can’t rename those manually.

I get the difference between RI and FI. The question is, if I’m using RI, can I do a full restore at a point in time in the past? As in, I walk in this morning and all my servers have been crypto. Obviously, the last backup (full) is useless. Can I ask for a full restore or instant recovery as of 2 days ago?
