New job and one of my tasks is to cleanup VEEAM. Trying to make sure the backup settings are correct and consistent. I’m also renaming the jobs in a logical and consistent manner. First couple of renamed jobs ran last night. I was surprised that a) they did not take a new full and b) they did not create a new folder.

I’m using Reverse Incremental.

Can I safely rename the folders to reflect the name of the jobs?

Will the vbk and vbm ever rename to the name of the job? I assume I can’t rename those manually.

Hi @Serge.Adam1060

Renaming a job is only graphical. Backup Files and Backup Folders will not be changed by that.

You could try to disable the old job. Clone the job. Rename the Folder. Use the map backup feature to map the backup chain from the new folder name with the cloned backup job.

I wouldn’t rename the backup files itself.

You can rename the folder yes and then just edit the job to ensure you map the job again to the new folder name.  This will ensure that the job continues from where it left off.

@Chris.Childerhose I did that. In the map screen, I only saw the old names. I did a rescan and now I can’t see either the old or new name.

As yes forgot to mention the rescan of the repo.  Good catch. :thumbsup_tone2:

So what is missing. I rescanned the repo. I edit the job, under Storage, I click on the “Map Backup” link, I can see the repo, but the renamed folder is not there at all anymore.

Try what is on this link and it should fix it.

I intentionally never wanted to add this link. But kindly take a look at this link. It should help: https://www.running-system.com/how-to-rename-a-veeam-backup-job-and-the-associated-backup-folders/

I noticed he didn’t get my points in the referenced guide I posted before yours. I thought of sharing in order to help him better because they actually have graphical illustration of the steps.
