Hi guys,

I have a query. When configuring a replication job, we specify a repo to store replica metadata. Where is the replica metadata repo located? in source or target site?

Hi @Anandu

The folder for replica metadata will be configured at source site. The backup repository for the replica metadata must be close as possible to the source backup proxy to get the best performance.

You can read more about it in the guide:

Backup Infrastructure for Replication - User Guide for VMware vSphere (veeam.com)

Backup Repository

The backup repository stores replica metadata that contains information on the read data blocks (such as checksums and digests). Metadata is required when Veeam Backup & Replication performs incremental replication or if you fail back from a VM replica to the original VM in the original location using quick rollback. Veeam Backup & Replication uses metadata to quickly detect changed data blocks between two replica states.

The backup repository must be deployed as close to the source backup proxy as possible and must have access to it.
