I have a customer that needed to rebuild the Windows VM that was acting as their Proxy/Repository server at their secondary site.    He is using all of the same IP information on the new server.   The repository itself is on a NetApp E-Series access via iSCSI.   Once the server is rebuilt, what is the process for getting it back into the B&R server.   If the server is the same name, will the B&R server just need to push out the Veeam proxy/repository services to the rebuilt VM or will we need to delete and re-add the proxy and repository to Veeam?   If we discovery the repository LUNs on the new VM via iSCSI will we need to re-scan the repository to discover the backups or will they just be there? If there is a process document for doing this it would be appreciated.

Hello,I created a new backup job only for Mail and Archive 2 weeks ago, it was working fine doing the full backup, but today I found that it was frozen, I restarted the Windows Server (weard, it took too much time), but I cannot start the job manually again, I receive a message “synhronisation failed”, I reconfigured the organization authentication but it doesn’t, also now when I try to rescan the proxy (that is the same server), there is an error: “this request operation sent to net.tcp://127.0.0.1:9193/ProxyAdmin did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:01:00)”. I tried to restart the Veeam Proxy Service, however it didn’t work, then I restarted the server again (it took too much time again) now the Veeam Proxy Service is up again, but the problem persists.Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance. Omar De Souza.

Hello, We have a Veeam Backup O365 5.0.1.225 with a new backup job created two weeks ago, only for Mail and Archive. I think that the performance is too slow, the processing rate is 5.4MB/s, bottleneck: source, read rate 3.9MB/s and write rate 5.8MB/s. Is that normal? Our bandwidth to Internet is 280Mbps  (35MB/s), download and upload, how can I troubleshooting this problem? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza.

Test Mails via Veeam Windows free agent 5.0 work fine! However notification after backup do never arrive anywhere.Checked and found out, that other users encouter the same problem.Problem started after upgrading or installing Version 5.Hope to get a solution soon.RegardsMichael

Hi, everyone I have some copyjobs that have been running for a significant amount of time due to a catchup-scenario we are in. I have noticed that on some of the jobs, it seems as if they start over. I check the jobs at some point the next day, and instead of the “Last Run” column showing days, I will see 8 hours ago, 3 hours ago, etc. The job will still be in running status. But it also looks like the job may not have started over. These jobs are immediate copy.

Hello, I currently use Veeam Agentfor Microsoft Windows Free to back up my Windows 10 computers to NAS.  I want to upgrade to a solution that can do the following1. Back up Windows 10 computers to NAS2. Back up network drive to NAS (network drive is 2TB USB drive connected to home router)3. Back up Android devices to NASDoes Veeam offer a product that covers all these requirements?Thank you!

I ran a report in Veeam and found out that there were several garbage files in Veeam. But, we have CISCO UCS sentinal snapshots. Do you think that what Veeam shows in Garbage files could include the Sentinel Snapshots also? As, we do not want to delete the Sentinel snapshots in UCS which might be appearing as Garbage files in Veeam. Anyone could explain more about this Garbage file and which one we should delete.

Hello, I would like to try the immutable backup functionality of V11. A first trial was successful but I would like to continue. The repository machine is an older desktop PC where I have installed 4 x 1TB SATA HDD. How do I have to  configure the initial configuration script of Ubuntu in order to realize a 100GB RAID10 for the OS and the remaining space as RAID10 for the backup files? BRFrank

Hey Guys,I have query. Suppose I have my veeam backup server on-premise and if I wanna store my backups on a repository(let’s say windows or linux) on cloud. Is it possible to integrate on-premise backup server with repository on cloud?

Require some clarification on Veeam Rental licensing.  Do rental licenses follow the same offering as the Veeam Universal License (VUL) offering listed in the Veeam Licensing Policy? Meaning, for every 1 license of Veeam Backup & Replication, they are offered in packs of 10 instances? We report per workload type (VM, Workstation) on a monthly basis to our aggregator.  With that said, does that mean it’s a 1:1 ratio for rental licenses? for every protected workload you have to license per unit (VM, Server, Workstation).Generally a little confused with the different offerings between commercial and rental, and whether rental licenses follow the VUL offering.

Hello Veeam Community, If customer have 500gb left in their datastore, how can I know or compute If how many days/months the 500gb will be? Assuming the daily trend average backup size is 900gb definitely it will reduce since there is dedup and compress in Veeam and have forever incremental sched. Thanks

Hi,Can anyone confirm if .NET 4.8 can safely be used with Veeam B&R 11?I need to install an agent on the host server and .NET 4.8 is a requirement. I cannot get a definitive answer from our 3rd party vendor who just refer me back to the System Requirements. Thank you

Hello everyone,I Have been learning about veeam products and recently for practice, I  setup a windows server VM  & installed veeam backup & replication in that. I was trying to backup a physical machine and the backup job failed. I feel the reason is  veeam is not able to identify details such as hostname and credentials. I looked various documents related to this but still I am missing out something. I even installed veeam agent on physical machine during initial setup. Can anyone help me out with this?

Hey All, Our Synology no longer supports NTLMv1 which is causing the Veeam SMB Repo to disconnect. Anyone know of a way to set the SMB level in Veeam to 2 or higher minimum? Thanks. User [veeam] from [IP address] failed to log in via [SMB] due to [NTLMv1 not permitted].

Hello,We have a VBR 10 with Enterprise Manager in a physical Windows Server 2012 R2. Also we have a secondary VBR 10 in a virtual machine 2012R2 in an external site.I have to migrate all the products to version 11 and I would like to know what is the best way to backup all the configuration necessary to restore the servers in case of problem.I read that I have to perform backup of the SQL Server configuration databases used by Veeam backup servers and Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager server, to easily go back to a previous version in case of issues with upgrade. So, In case of problem, I can go back to a previous version with the built-in configuration backup and the SQL Server configuration databases backup, right?it’s also another option to do a Veeam Windows Agent Backup of that physical server from the other VBR in the external site? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza.

Hello y’all! I’d like to know what software or tools you often use to project and draw your Veeam environments.Do you use MS Visio, LucidChart or something else?

Hi,i work for an MSP where a lot of clients are small businesses still using Shadowprotect. (even larger clients..) not always setup by us, but as we onboard them we want to start converting to Veeam.Certain smaller clients have physical machines acting as the Veeam B&R Console + backup repository with WD RED NAS HDD’s (only for the purpose of a backup destination, not a failover/actual backup server - due to $$)I’m trying to design a standard quote to help our sales team for a certain client type that doesn't mind spending a bit more money.Thinking of a Lenovo SR250 Maybe?? as the “entry level” Veaam setup(virtualised). (if clients require faster recovery against host failure of their production servers then a custom quote would be created for more of a 1:1 setup)I just want something that will still allow for replication failover (run replicas decently)So consider this, most these clients have a Domain controller VM, File Server VM, and MAYBE exchange VM.The backup server host wo

HiMy setup is as follows : - 1 server (in a workgroup) with Veeam ONE (service account of service is a standalone user, member of Veeam ONE Administrators group and local administrators group)- 1 server (also in a workgroup) with VBR- several domain-joined Hyper-V serversProblem is situated in Veeam ONE : Adding the hyper-v servers with a domain-user (with of course local administrator group) is no problem.Adding the VBR server with a local administrator account is no problem.Adding Veeam ONE Agent on the VBR server is no problem.Problems : - in Infrastructure View : I am getting the error of bad hyper-v username logon attempt (refers to the user being used as service account on the server with Veeam ONEthe info of the Hyper-v server seems to be correct including the CPU graphs and so..Is there a way that another user can be chosen to collect the data instead of the Veeam ONE service account?- in Data Protection View : VBR server is not responding and getting the alarm : Server connect

We have total of 700 VM , we are planning to migrate 200 VM in first phase and 500 VM in second phase , we have veeam on front end and HP storeonce 5650 on backend ... I am not sure how to calculate number of catalyst required for total 700 VM for replication between two data centers ...is there a formula for this ..could some one please help

Could anyone share tutorial for configuring repository replication (backups) for Google Cloud Storage?t's giving user login error, I'm having configuration difficulties between Google and Veeam for Storage Standard

Hello,  I have a monthly tape job that started last Monday. Today I found that the tape job failed with the Data error (cyclic redundancy check) for some backup jobs.I decided to manually start again the same tape job with new cartridges, however, I realized that it’s taken only the missed backup jobs from the previous failed jobs, for the other backup jobs the result is “success” but with the message “no backup files found”. Do you have an idea? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza. PS: VBR 10

Hello there,I have a backup job which was going seamlessly. but in the last days it was failing after reaching 80% with error message attached below. I tried the job by disabling firewall rules nothing new occurred. All backup infrastructure components are working fine for other VMs. I have also checked firewall logs but there is nothing blocked related to this backup.Error message:Error: Unstable connection: unable to transmit data. Failed to upload disk. Skipped arguments: [vddkConnSpec>]; Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [11956]. Failed to download disk 'VM-Name.vmdk'. I need to figure out how to resolve this issue immediately.

Dear all,Apology I am a newbie here and my question may sound naive. We appreciate any help from your guys.We used Tivoli in the past to backup Oracle for both long term data keeping and DR. We created 3 sets of tapes. 2 sets would  be always in the tape library and one at remote site. Every 2 weeks we get back the offsite set and load it into library, and send one set of tapes to remote site for storage.Could you please give some idea how to set up file-to-tape job (let say daily full backup of Oracle) in Veeam in similar fashion? Our idea is to create a media pool with 3 media sets. One media set online for backup for 2 weeks, another offline in the tape library and one media set in the vault (to keep in remote site). And we will rotate in that way for every 2 weeks. Will that work? We value your input very much.Thank you.Hien

Hello everyone,So, I just tried out my new tape library (Powervault 124T) and it worked for the first job I did. I erased some tapes, let that job finish, ejected the magazine, reloaded with some tapes that had data, I did an inventory on them, and while I thought it finished. It must not have. I ejected the tape magazine, changed tapes, and discovered there was one still in the drive, and the job was not doing anything. It was stuck.I canceled it, said okay I’m going to re-run it, but now the drives shows locked & I can’t unlock it.
