Asynchronous request operation failed with synology SMB backup target

I have been having issues with the local file server/storage which is a Synology device running their latest up to date OS.I recently enabled SMB multichannel and Asyncronous read on the Synology. Unfortunately, my backups have started failing across multiple devices: 4/1/2024 12:32:10 PM :: Error: The network is busy. Asynchronous request operation has failed. [readsize = 4202496] [offset = 8585379840] Failed to restore file from local backup. VFS link: [summary.xml]. Target file: [MemFs://frontend::CDataTransferCommandSet::RestoreText_{04776693-5fd2-4b58-8adb-2a31e1e3d68e}]. CHMOD mask: [255]. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.RestoreText}  While I understand I can disable the feature and NOT have SMB multichannel on, it’s been great and beneficial. I’d much prefer I was able to support and take advantage here. Is this something I can address in some way? This is using the Veeam agent.

Veeam for Mac Agent - feedback/experiences

Hi all,Relatively new to the community; been working with Veeam a while now, though!After finally sorting some bits out, I’ve built out a home lab to play with Veeam, but also use my own data as a way to gather experience about day-to-day use of Veeam (I am an architect, so naturally, I never touch the product in anger 🙄 - hoping to fixing that!)I’m loosely aware that the Veeam for Mac agent is relatively new, so while I understand there will be bugs, my current experience has been fairly frustrating (I don't want to treat this as a support-request post, so wont go into specifics). What is your experience of using the Mac agent so far?

"Cannot find EFI boot manager entry for EFI System Partition"

Hello,I am encountering a warning on my Veeam backups that Veeam "Cannot find EFI boot manager entry for EFI System Partition". The backups are otherwise successful.I am running Manjaro Linux, which I realize is not formally supported. I used Veeam successfully some time ago without issues, experimented with other backup solutions for a while, then came back to Veeam because honestly nothing works as well or as simply as it does. The last time I used Veeam, I was running a 5.x version, and I’ve since started using 6.1.0.1498.Here is some more detailed information about my issue:Specific Problem: When performing a Full System backup, Veeam will complain that it "Cannot find EFI boot manager entry for EFI System Partition GUID” followed by the GUID of my system’s EFI partition. System: Manjaro Linux (KDE) 5.12.211 Backup: Full System backup of 4 drives to an SMB share: nvme0n1p1 - EFI nvme0n1p2 - SWAP nvme0n1p3 - / sda1 - /home sdb1 - arbitrary data sdc1 - arbitrary data sdc2 - arb

vMware removed HPE Proliand from theires Patch

Hello team,Today, I replaced an HPE Gen 10 server. After adding it to the cluster, I encountered an issue with remediating it to install the IO. I observed that VMware has removed the HPE Gen 10 Proliant from their Cycle Center, making it challenging to apply the CDP IO. Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Oracle Database problem

Hi to everyoneI am trying to take a backup for two disks on a physical machine (a server) with windows server. I have the next warning I understand that Veeam Backup cannot access to the folders that have Oracle databases and I have two questions.Is the backup usefull in case that I need a recovery? I know that all data couldn’t be read inside the disk.Could I give the credentials (username/password) to access Oracle databases? at the moment where I installed the windows plugin over the server I accepted the option to install Oracle RMAN plugin. Thank you for your time and help

WORLD BACKUP DAY BLOG - the dumb student and the server

I had to learn very early in my professional career that a backup can save your life. During my studies, I was in the first or second practical phase in the company and was supposed to clean up some directories of an application on an OS/2 server. It was the administration of access rights to the branches throughout the region…. So I opened the command line and started browsing the folder structure. Finally, I found the files I wanted to delete and started typing the delete command. And sent it off...Unfortunately, I hadn't checked again which directory I was currently in - unfortunately it was the root directory... And so a whole lot of important directories and files were irretrievably deleted. 😱😱😱 So, now I was a poor student in the first or second semester and had to confess to my supervisors that I had just killed the access management of the entire region (around 15 branches spread across western Germany with several thousand employees). 😭 Ugh... Rollbacks error, no option available in GUI to enable or disable.

Yesterday I came across an interesting bug using version 12.1.1.56 I have been creating plenty of jobs and test jobs to Wasabi without issue for quite a while. For some reason, one of the jobs I created gave me an error.  I thought this was odd as I had not enabled rollbacks, and there isn’t even a setting to adjust the setting for transform previous chains into rollbacks on Object Storage jobs.  Following KB4390 https://www.veeam.com/kb4390 There are 2 easy PowerShell commands to fix this issue.  The first command will find all jobs using the Transform previous backup chains into rollbacks option. Get-VBRJob | where {$_.BackupTargetOptions.TransformIncrementsToSyntethic -eq $True} It found the job in question, along with one of my snpashot jobs that had it enabled as well. Once again, slightly odd as it doesn’t use this feature. There are 2 ways you can resolve this using powershell depending on if you want to use Forever Forward, or Synthetic Full jobs. Disable Transform previous bac

VBK files to be kept for restore

We have vbk files from Dec 23 and Jan 24. Do you we need those fie for restore? Our retention was 15 days and it was reduced to 4 days.

On site backup to cloud questions

I had a few questions about backup from onsite computers to the cloud. I am currently using the community edition of veeam backup and replication. The backups are currently going to onsite storage. Does the community edition has the capability to backup to cloud storage? If so how? Is there any difference between the community edition and the essential edition aside from the number of workloads they can support? I see that veeam supports backups to AWS, Azure, and Google. Does veeam support backing up to other cloud storage providers?

Hello, I try to restore some email for specific user let say user1@mydomain.com but i have error :When restore using user1@mydomain.comNone of the required roles (Global Administrator, Exchange Administrator) is assigned to the user : user1@mydomain.com When restore using administrator accountFailed to open mailbox : user1@mydomain.com. Failed to Access mailbox. The specific object was not found in the store. Default folder root not found. Anyone know why?

Moving Backups Load

Hi Community,i would like to give a suggestion for maybe a future release.When moving a backup to another repository, the job occupies all free task asap. Other jobs on that server will be delayed until the Move-Jop is finished.I suggest a dialog where one can limit the tasks the Move-Job is using, so the normal backup routine is not on full hold.What are your thoughts on this?

cannot install VBR 12.1

Hello, Thanks, I cannot install latest VBRso this is what happened.For years, at VBR 11 installed and worked great. thanks veeam! Now, tried to update to latest 12.1. i downloaded .iso and checked md5 hash. That update failed, complained could not uninstall veeam for linux. I tried again to update and this time, instead of being asked to upgrade, i was only given option to Install. How to implement my backup goals - home/personal data?

Hello!I am new here, hope you don't mind my ignorance!!I am looking for some detailed steps/instructions to implement and achieve my data backup goals for a personal/home based setting. I Have quite a few kinds of devices in my home. couple of windows laptops, couple of iPads, couple of iPhones, an android phone, may be a macbook pro in the future. I don't find it practical to connect separate USB external hard disks to each of these devices to back them up. So, what i am thinking to achieve instead is - if all of these devices can connect to a NAS, use one big drive say 6/8 TB and create individual folders to create separate backups of each of the devices, that is the ideal solution i am looking for. I haven't decided yet on what model of NAS do i need. Any recommendations welcome! I am planning to use this NAS device just for backing up my multiple devices in one place. I am not looking for active file sharing among the different devices. Also create a backup of the 6/8 TB NA

Veeam Backup & Replication can't start

Hi all. The situation is a little unusual, in our infrastructure there is a working version of Veeam Backup & Replication 11 running on a virtual machine with Windows Server 2019 Standard, everything is fine with it. But recently we launched a spare physical server in the data center, I exported a virtual machine with Veeam there, and now it does not start.Of the 16 Veeam services, 3 cannot start - “Veeam Backup Service”, “Veeam Broker Service” and “Veeam CDP Coordinator Service”, so the management console does not start. Error 1064 “An exception occured in the service when handling the control request”.Please help me understand what’s going on, this is a complete copy of a virtual machine, just running on a different physical host, what’s the problem?

Removing Unavailable Backup Repository

Edition = latest edition of Veeam Community Edition -I successfully right-mouse click the menu area and enabled Home so that Backup Jobs are visible in Community Edition.-I then successfully created a backup job using local administrator as Veeam Community Edition will only run the backup job with local administrator not any other local user with administrator permissions.-I then successfully completed a backup.-Initially, I was using Backup1 as the backup repository. I then went on to use another backup repository of Backup2. I have completed backups using Backup2 and want to remove the backup repository of Backup1. It shows Backup1 as unavailable which is correct. When I right-mouse click to remove Backup1, it says: “Backup1 is used for configuration backup. Open configuration backup settings and choose another backup repository first.”I do not see any menu option or area that defines Configuration Backup Settings. Where is it?
