Veeam V12 local SQL express to azure PostgreSQL PaaS - possible?

Hi all.

We are looking to utilize azure PostgreSQL PaaS for the config DB for Veeam V12 but need to know if this is supported. Docs show PostgreSQL is supported but doesn't specifically say if we can use PaaS.

Hi @pauljones! According to the helpcenter cloud database services, and therefore also PaaS, is not supported. Remote installations on the other hand are supported, which means you could host your own PostgreSQL database in the cloud on IaaS; but I don’t see any advantage in that.

Local or remote installation of the following versions of PostgreSQL(1):

  • PostgreSQL 14.x
  • PostgreSQL 15 and 15.1 (PostgreSQL 15.1 is included in the Veeam Backup & Replication setup)

(1) Veeam Backup & Replication does not support PostreSQL installations on cloud database services (for example, Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS).
