NTLMv1 no longer supported on Synology so Repo can't connect

Hey All, Our Synology no longer supports NTLMv1 which is causing the Veeam SMB Repo to disconnect. Anyone know of a way to set the SMB level in Veeam to 2 or higher minimum? Thanks. User [veeam] from [IP address] failed to log in via [SMB] due to [NTLMv1 not permitted].

Veeam 12.1 CP1 - Released 12.1.1.56

I was looking in to an issue today for something and happened to look at the Veeam KB page that shows versions and updates for v12.1 - KB2680: Build Numbers and Versions of Veeam Backup & ReplicationI noticed there is a cumulative patch that released on the 17th (Wednesday) with a new build 12.1.1.56.For those that are using the Veeam Hardened Repositories this update addresses the need for the SSH to be enabled for updating. Hello everyone,some backup files were manually deleted from D:\ storage (ReFS) andnow backup jobs don’t work.Failed to pre-process the job Error: A data integrity checksum error occurred. Veeam Upgrade issue.

I recently updated a client from Veeam 11, I think .816 to the latest version available. Everything went as usual as I do these quite often but this one is throwing a pop up that states, "unable to upgrade plug-ins under the current user, please open the console under an account with administrative privilege's:" when I launch Veeam. I am logged in as a local administrator account and have updated this client in the past with no issues.I just click on okay and it opens up like normal. I also checked for any updates to the managed machine and there is upgrade option. This is a stand alone Veeam system with no remote components.I don't think it's going to impact the functionality but will know more after tonight's job run.Appreciate any feedback!Thanks,Poettone!

Can we get a Raspbian 64-bit Backup Client?

I added a Raspberry Pi to my test lab. I just installed their new Raspberry Pi 64-bit OS released in May 2021. I love VEEAM Community Backup. I can’t install the Linux client on the Raspberry Pi OS. It would be great, if they made a client for them. Many corporations are developing IoT devices based on the Pi. Here is a picture of my Pi / Arduino test lab. Full storage not found

Has anyone ever seen a backup job fail with the error “Full storage not found”? I have no orphaned restore points, repository is good...everything looks perfectly fine. The repository is accessible and I can see the vbms and vbk files in it. I can’t find an answer for this. Veeam - Physical or Virtual that is the question?

I wanted to ask the community on here to get a discussion going about whether using VMs for Veeam is good, bad or indifferent? It is based on a question from the forum here - VM as repo - Veeam R&D ForumsI added my thoughts to this post as I disagree with some of the comments about having to use physical servers as the BP site mentions both physical and virtual. I also work at an MSP and everything we build is virtual for Veeam other than a few tape servers we have which are physical boxes since they perform better this way with direct connect to the FC fabric.Anyway just wanted to see the communities opinions here and not to put one or the other down just thoughts and what everyone is doing now.And go……. 🤣

Now I see the repository as Unavailable and if I try to rescan it and I receive the following warnings:Failed to synchronize REPOXXXX Details: Input/output error Failed to get file system object info: 'XXXX/backups'. Backup stopped working

Hello, I have a Veeam server that backs up a Win server 2016 server located at another location. Veeam connects to this VM over a SDWAN connection (Zerotier) This has worked perfectly for years. All of a sudden, a few days ago, it started failing. I uninstalled all components (Veeam Agent) from the server, then redeployed the agent. I can ping the remote server, install the veeam agent, etc on it. But when I run the job, I get an error: “Error: Failed to connect to remote backup service.” Any ideas what could cause this?

HPE StoreOnce backup copy jobs fails with file session error

Hi, We have a lot of backup copy jobs (but far from all) that fails with the error “Failed to dispatch repository file session resource requst. Requested amount of file session (193) is greater than the maximum amount available (192).According to HPE Veeam should know that this StoreOnce has a internal limit of 192 datastreams and should not try to open number 193. Anyone with a idea of how to fix this?

How to exclude a SQL database from getting backed up so there won't be failed email messages

I am just starting out doing Veeam SQL backups and one thing I found is I need to be able to exclude certain dBs from getting backed up in Veeam. The dBs that I do not want backed up are for dev and the dB is restored to a different server nightly so when a Veeam SQL log backup happens I’m getting the error “Collected SQL Server transaction logs do not match any existing database backup: DatabaseName” which is 100% accurate.I do not take full backups every day so when the logs are getting backed up this particular dB does not have a full associated with the log backups.This dB would not need to get backed up at all.

Veeam agent based backup is failing, SQL Appaware is not enabled, but backup is failing due to SQLServer writer in non-retryable error. Has anyone came accross this? VBO365: Object reference not set to an instance of an object (Teams)

Veeam Version 12.1 - Malware Detections Query

Hello Veeam Community,I am reaching out with a concern regarding our Veeam version 12.1, as we are consistently receiving malware detection alerts on our VMs. The notifications specifically indicate:Potential malware activity detected: Too many files have had their names changed since the last backup; ensure they were not encrypted by ransomware. Potential malware activity detected: *..txt: 2 instances.I have conducted thorough scans on both the VM and the backup, and no malicious activity was found. Backup Copy job Immediate vs Periodic

Hi Folks, Just wanted to share my opinion on this. I was around when Cloud Connect was introduced and remember the struggle with customers when explaining backup copy job copy intervals. Often I would hear.. “can we not just have our legacy, backup job done then offsite?”. Veeam brought in the immediate copy not to long ago and I have already noticed some issues. When you leveraged periodic BC jobs you could set the copy interval differently for tenants with different quality bandwidth. I could be wrong but with Immediate copy if it gets behind it will copy one day, then right away try the next in order to catch up. If you have many backup copy jobs and only so many concurrent connections available this then becomes an issue. I prefer periodic copy, I can say to the tenant, yes we will get your backup copy jobs over the wire but with your current bandwidth we need 3 days… then it is up to them to increase bandwidth.

Guest Credentials Test fails (RPC client failed to call method [GetSvcVersion])

Hi, I am testing with Veeam to find out if it suits our needs. My first backup job though already fails under the rescan. Running the guest credentials test gives me this error in the log:‘RPC client failed to call method [GetSvcVersion]’.I like to backup a Windows 11 VirtualBox VM. The Windows firewall is switched off on that machine. VirtualBox and Veeam B&R are running on the same machine. The VM is connected via bridged networking.The RPC services are running on the VM and the Veeam installer service on the Veeam B&R machine.Thanks for any help or hints.
