Just read the news and thought it would be interesting in the community: HPE to acquire cloud disaster recovery startup Zerto What do you think about it?
I did get a private message from the user haider2012, which is spam obviously. How to deal with it? There is no button like “report spam”.
Can Veeam backup and replication Community edition be installed on Client PC? Can we control security for the user so that they will not have access to modify configurations.
Cumulative path 3 of Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC) V5 was released last week.Anton says in his weekly digest:“[It] addresses a critical issue which may cause a backup encryption password to be reset. If you're managing Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows with VSPC and have backup encryption enabled, then you need to install this patch and re-enter the password. This is required because the original encryption password can be reset by the automatic policy resync task which is started after you upgrade to version 5.To help you with locating agent jobs that need to have their encryption password set again, with the patch installed we show a failed job session for all affected backup agents, so don't be surprised when you see those. After applying a new password, you will need to rerun all affected backup jobs.”You can download the patch here:https://www.veeam.com/kb4163
Cleaning tape is in slot 10 and unrecognized. Can it be visible in Media Pool? What would be the process to replace the cleaning tape and add it to the slot. Where do I find the I/O slot? Sorry asking basic questions will be taking a training course soon. We are using Community edition Veeam Backup and Replication 10

One thing that I find really useful if you’re moving a small VM for a small customer that doesn’t have a VCenter to a new Vsphere host is to just simply connect the the two ESXi hosts in Veeam:Add both hosts in the Virtual Infrastructure Create a replication job between the old host and the new host If it runs rather slow let it run for a few days. Determine a small outage window where you’ll have the customer stop accessing data on the old host. Do one more replication job. Shut the old VM down in the old host Power on the new server on the new host. It’s important to not use the replica_ prefix or suffix just for the sake of simplicity. A lot of times focus is on larger customers and how to vmotion this or that but sometimes it’s nice to think about how small customers can be served too. Using Veeam for that is a life saver.
Hi All , Hope great.I was practicing some fail-overs last night to our DR. If I am correct it seams that after you fail over the original VM from Prod it does not shutdown. This leaving two machines on the network with the same IP.Very keen to hear your thoughts. Being Prod and DRSincerelyJay

What do you guys think of installing ubuntu server as a VM on Qnap 8Bay - Raid 10 NAS.Then pushing Immutable backups to it. The NAS will not be connected to the internet.I would love to learn the possible risks and vulnerabilities of this?We still follow the 3:2:1 rule. This is just for extra. Thanks all.Jay
Hi, everyone! I have a quick question about coypjob intervals. If I have my copyjob set to 1 day starting at 4am, does that mean that the copy starts at 4am and runs until 4am the next day and then just starts over? I am seeing some warnings about things not being copied over in the copy interval. I’m a little confused on how this works. How can I make the copy interval longer?
Hello everyone, I need to restore “incremental backup” to another “new server” on the network.I have “export disk” to VHD from backup the “old server” and attach this disk to “new server”.In this moment I need to restore “incremental backup” to “new server”. Is this possible? Thank you
Hi All - Hope well.I was hoping some one could shed some light on this. It seams when I replicate VM’s from our production server to the DR server, hyper V also makes a snap shot. What is the correct way to start the replicas? I imagine just for the replication job to stop and then start the VM’s normally on Hyper V without using Hyper V snapshots? What is the correct procedure? - I would also like to use the fail-back option so I dont want to hyperV snap shots to upset the process. Please find the image attached. Thanks all!
I have a server with Direct attached storage utilized as a repository server. We have 3 partitions that are each configured as a repository in Veeam. We have combined all 3 into a SOBR. For the max concurrent tasks, do I need to divide the total concurrent tasks by the number of repositories since they each could be utilized at the same time.Hard Numbers: I have 16 concurrent tasks max due to Ram limitations on my Repository server. With the 3 repositories, do I configure each to have 5 max concurrent tasks or can i configure all 3 to have 16?Explanation on the reason for the solution would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
I am testing some VM backups in a customer environment. We get the following warning when running the backup of a test VM:6/22/2021 8:18:11 AM :: SetVmCustomConfigOption failed, vmRef 'vm-117256', options ['SCSI0:0.ctkEnabled':'True','SCSI0:1.ctkEnabled':'True']Fault "NoPermissionFault", detail "<NoPermissionFault xmlns="urn:vim25" xsi:type="NoPermission" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><object type="VirtualMachine">vm-117256</object><privilegeId>VirtualMachine.Config.AdvancedConfig</privilegeId></NoPermissionFault>"Permission to perform this operation was denied. The backup appears to completed successfully with this warning on the VM. Any thoughts on the reason for this warning? Running Veeam 11.0.0.837. Vcenter version is 7.0.2.00200
Hi All. Hope you great. I most likely corrupted my veeam DB after upgrade. Even after repository re-scan my Veeam B&R is upset with my default repository. I recall there was a regedit command to force veeam to rebuild its DB. If anyone can help I will really appreciate it. Here is the error as attached.I would love to solve this. If anyone can assist.
Happy Monday! I’ll try and post a little pop quiz question each day, hope to hear from many of you. Did you know the answer? Did you look it up in the documentation? Did you try it in a lab? Please share some details along with your answer. The virtualization team uses vSAN for all datastores and is considering to enable vSAN datastore encryption. What impact would this have to the Veeam deployment?
when I try to install Management pack it showing this error. but I try to install in the management pack in the same server where I install windows system center
