Hello, I created 10 new auxiliary backup applications into my organization. How could I know if my backup job is using all the new backup applications? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza.,

Veeam have snuck this update out late in the day! Veeam Backup for Office 365 5c has been released! Full notes hereIn addition to the key Teams bug fix that has been doing the rounds as a hotfix there seem to be mainly other Teams related fixes such as inability to backup chat messages newer than October 2020 and Backup Proxies out of memory when backing up to object storage! Time to get patching! Thanks @Mildur for clarifying it’s a CU for 5c as 5c was released earlier this year!

Not sure how many people check the Events section but the first VUG Canada meeting is happening on September 21st. There are only two attendees including myself so be sure to sign up. We have Rasmus attending 😎https://community.veeam.com/events/sept-21st-rasmus-haslund-at-vug-canada-meeting-56Hope to see more people there.

Hi,We’re a long time user of Veeam B&R and it’s worked very well for our on-site backups.I’m now testing/evaluating Veeam Cloud Connect with a UK based Veeam CSP (PeaSoup) to additionally backup some of our critical VMs to a Cloud Repository. This is a 5TB trial, but I’m not sure if this has any bearing on my question. This is my scenario:When running a Cloud Connect Backup Copy Job containing 15 VMs only 2 of these VMs will ever be running/active concurrently. The other VMs will be “Waiting for backup infrastructure resources availabilty” until 1 of the active backups completes and then the remaining VMs are processed sequentially; but never more than 2 concurrently. Whilst I understand what this means, I’d like to know what “decides” this limitation. So my questions:Is it an internal Veeam algorithm, available bandwidth or is it the Cloud Service Provider that “decides” this? As a trial user is it possible that we’re being limited to 2 concurrent connections by the CSP? Is it a “ha

Hello there,I want to execute a shell script inside a guest Linux VM automatically after a backup job is completed. I wonder how can i achieve this. What is the best way for me to do this?

I have a customer that needed to rebuild the Windows VM that was acting as their Proxy/Repository server at their secondary site.    He is using all of the same IP information on the new server.   The repository itself is on a NetApp E-Series access via iSCSI.   Once the server is rebuilt, what is the process for getting it back into the B&R server.   If the server is the same name, will the B&R server just need to push out the Veeam proxy/repository services to the rebuilt VM or will we need to delete and re-add the proxy and repository to Veeam?   If we discovery the repository LUNs on the new VM via iSCSI will we need to re-scan the repository to discover the backups or will they just be there? If there is a process document for doing this it would be appreciated.

Many are already tired of participating in online events. But I think a lot of the community will join VMworld 2021. Hello,I created a new backup job only for Mail and Archive 2 weeks ago, it was working fine doing the full backup, but today I found that it was frozen, I restarted the Windows Server (weard, it took too much time), but I cannot start the job manually again, I receive a message “synhronisation failed”, I reconfigured the organization authentication but it doesn’t, also now when I try to rescan the proxy (that is the same server), there is an error: “this request operation sent to net.tcp://127.0.0.1:9193/ProxyAdmin did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:01:00)”. I tried to restart the Veeam Proxy Service, however it didn’t work, then I restarted the server again (it took too much time again) now the Veeam Proxy Service is up again, but the problem persists.Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance. Omar De Souza.

Hello, We have a Veeam Backup O365 5.0.1.225 with a new backup job created two weeks ago, only for Mail and Archive. I think that the performance is too slow, the processing rate is 5.4MB/s, bottleneck: source, read rate 3.9MB/s and write rate 5.8MB/s. Is that normal? Our bandwidth to Internet is 280Mbps  (35MB/s), download and upload, how can I troubleshooting this problem? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza.

For anyone that uses Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX there is a new plugin for Veeam just release and can be found here -KB4200: Release Notes for Dell EMC PowerMax Plug-In for Veeam Backup & Replication 1.0.84Great to see many storage vendors getting plugins to leverage snapshots for backup.

Just read a Veeam blog post about how to protect your organization from ransomware attacks. Because we cannot talk enough about ransomware-protection, I want to give a small summary of the blog post here. Consider it as an invitation to read the original post carefully! https://www.veeam.com/blog/how-to-protect-your-organization-from-ransomware-attacks.html Attack Vectors – often started at endpoints Phishing emails, with/without download links Reuse of compromised user identity Brute-force attacks Exploiting vulnerabilities DDoS attacks   Countermeasures Patch and keep your systems Apply strict MFA for all remote to avoid brute force attacks Protect user Protecting the endpoint Traditional antivirus is no longer enough Email security Data protection Backup, backup, backup 3-2-1 Rule Visibility Monitor ransomware attack specify metrics I personally add: train your employees Other related actions to reduce risk  However, nothing is guaranteed to prote

I have just discovered on Twitter that there’s currently a problem with Teams Backup in Veeam Backup for Office 365 which could affect many installations. It looks like Microsoft did change something on their side and so Teams backup is failing with the following error: “Object reference not set to an instance of an object”If you are affected by this problem, you can request the hotfix from Veeam Support. Here is the corresponding R&D forums topic: https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-for-office-365-f47/teams-backup-failing-with-object-reference-not-set-to-an-instance-of-an-object-t76162.html

Test Mails via Veeam Windows free agent 5.0 work fine! However notification after backup do never arrive anywhere.Checked and found out, that other users encouter the same problem.Problem started after upgrading or installing Version 5.Hope to get a solution soon.RegardsMichael

Hello everyone! I have a case here that is about to copy some files on a Linux machine to a blob on Azure. These files are not generated by Veeam. So, I just like to know if it possible to take this files and upload to Azure through Veeam B&R. What you think about it?Any idea or tips?

have anyone encountered such on veeam agent for microsoft windows?

If anyone is interested in Veeam for BaaS or DRaaS then you can find some helpful videos on Youtube here - (36) BaaS and DRaaS - YouTubeIt looks at what BaaS & DRaaS are, how to choose a provider and also if you are an MSP then deploying VCC.

Hi, everyone I have some copyjobs that have been running for a significant amount of time due to a catchup-scenario we are in. I have noticed that on some of the jobs, it seems as if they start over. I check the jobs at some point the next day, and instead of the “Last Run” column showing days, I will see 8 hours ago, 3 hours ago, etc. The job will still be in running status. But it also looks like the job may not have started over. These jobs are immediate copy.

For those who don’t go to the VMware forums (another ‘communities’ based vendor website) often, there was finally a VMware employee who somewhat unofficially acknowledged the issue of running ESXi on SD cards, specifically with vSphere 7U2. I say U2 because v7 and v7U1c, of which I both have run on DELL IDSDMs, runs flawlessly; and has for the past year.To read a little more on the issue, you can review the VMware Communities post here. The issue, it seems, has to do with their newly formatted boot partitions. But honestly, I think the mishap (Hosts disconnecting/hanging) is mostly due to a new vmkusb driver. VMW is currently working on a fix, though they’re really recommending orgs to start using ‘high-performance’ storage (i.e. disks) for the boot  device moving forward. All that to say is, if you haven’t upgrade to 7U2, I recommend not to. If you’re running your boot on disk, I think you’ll be fine. Otherwise, hold off. One of the Veeam Vanguards, Luciano Patrao, did a nice little p

Hello, I currently use Veeam Agentfor Microsoft Windows Free to back up my Windows 10 computers to NAS.  I want to upgrade to a solution that can do the following1. Back up Windows 10 computers to NAS2. Back up network drive to NAS (network drive is 2TB USB drive connected to home router)3. Afternoon everyone, I’ve just seen that Veeam have released the new version of Veeam Backup for GCP! Release Notes: https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_gcp_2_0_release_notes_rn.pdfWhat’s new:https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_gcp_2_0_whats_new_wn.pdf A key highlight is GCP will be joining AWS & Azure native backup options in being managed by Veeam B&R v11a when that becomes available!

I ran a report in Veeam and found out that there were several garbage files in Veeam. But, we have CISCO UCS sentinal snapshots. Do you think that what Veeam shows in Garbage files could include the Sentinel Snapshots also? As, we do not want to delete the Sentinel snapshots in UCS which might be appearing as Garbage files in Veeam. Anyone could explain more about this Garbage file and which one we should delete.
