As title says, Veeam's new policies change the license per socket to more advanced type of licensing.Will the “community version” be affected / discontinued?Thanks to all :)

Hello,I want to try Orchestrator v4 but having trouble about "Recovery Locations". I can able to select "target storage systems" and "target datacenter" but when ı came to "target compute resources" could not see anything to select.Env; vcenter 7 u3 and Netapp ontap 9.7.Ps; ı was able to see hosts from one collect with vm's. Also can not see "compute resources" when ı select "restore" options.Any idea why compute resources not showing ?Thanks in advance,

Hey guys, I have a question.What kind of backup does veeam create, transactionally consistent or crash consistent backup? what is the difference between them? 

Ive been playing around with Veeam the last day or so and not having much luck.  we have 2 servers running 2016 with RDX backup drives. I have installed community addition on one im using as a test server, the other one is in production running AD, DHCP, DNS etc.  We also have a small NAs we can locate in a seperate building to give us ofsite backups/copies.So far non of the backups have worked, seems to fail on a rescan needed.Maybe I should be using agents and not community ?  Just about all the help/instructions go into VM and more complex stuff than we need. I have only ever had to recover files twice and server once in the 15 years Ive been supporting them but its enough to know that next time I want it to be a lot easier and have backups configured so we have fairly up to date data.  Weekly would do at a pinch.  So yes critical that we have it but no ones going to lose much and its a balance with costs of loss and cost of implementattion.  Sorry for going on.Any suggestions as to

We have VBR BAAS, provisioned in VM, initially we sized  it with the server inventory provided. How can I know or what will be the basis if I need to add addtional cpu or ram in the veeam backup server?for example: addtional 10vms added in the job will add 2 cpu and 2gb ram?

What’s new that you see as interesting?Personally the whole project where the management layer of vSphere is containerized I think is both interesting and is going to create some challenges in the near future for those of us thinking about BCDR. That itself lends itself to the idea of the other project where your vSphere management is now done as a Service.From the Veeam perspective I keep thinking about the idea of having physical repositories that I use the project Monterrey smart NICs with to fold them into the NSX overlay to really nail down the connectivity with.

As everybody knows, yesterday Facebook has the biggest outage ever register in the company.  Just to be clear it has noted that the problem is about DNS and BGP protocol through the network. So, it wasn't attack. It wasn't ransomware. Soo…. VBO hard to install ? Or you never had the chance to play around with Wasabi object storage? Or you have some internships at the office that have a O365-like-assignment? Some students that suddenly asked you to play around with our tool? Or a client (who has no time as usual) still wants a POC to play around himself… But in real live he/she will never even manage to install it….For the above use-cases i’ve added VBO from-scratch install to a fully functional configurated instance. Just saw this VMworld session of Dell/EMC’s PowerProtect backup solution:Protect Your Virtual Infrastructure with Drastically Less Disruption [SEC2764S]Then I read this article about Transparent Snapshot with Dell/EMC in vSphere:https://www.storagereview.com/news/dell-emc-powerprotect-adds-transparent-snapshotsFirst I thought this is a new feature in vSphere 7 U3. But at second glance it is something different. It seems, Dell installs some VIB in the ESXi host. This daemon/service monitors all changed blocks of protected VMs and reports these at backup time. So no vSphere Snapshot is needed.Does anyone knows more about this feature/technology? Am I correct in my assumptions? 

Hey guys,I just wanna understand the difference between recovery and recovery verification.Recovery verification is testing VM Backups for malware scan and if nothing found we proceed for restore. While performing recovery, there is an option to perform malware scan.The question here is for recovery if the customer chooses to perform malware scan then what is the difference between recovery & recovery verification? Can anyone tell me or am I wrong somewhere?

Hi,I am useing PowerShell doing VM Restores. It works pretty well. The only thing, that is not working for me, is to place the Target Network. I am restoreing VMs in an different target. If I understand the documentation correct, I need to Get the ViServerNetwork Info from my host. So I put this information in a varible like this:$target = Get-VBRViServerNetworkInfo -Server "srv01.veeam.local" | Where-Object { $_.NetworkName -eq "NW01" }But putting this varible to the Start command, the restore process will fail because auf the -TargetNetwork. So what I am doing wrong? Start-VBRRestoreVM –RestorePoint $restorepoint –Server $server –ResourcePool $rpool –Datastore $datastore –PowerUp $true -TargetNetwork $target

Hello to all,On my Veeam Cloud Connect server I have a SOBR with 2 extents and S3 storage from Wasabi.1 of the 2 extens was recently added but no offload to the S3 was happening.I probably shouldn't have, but I removed the S3 from the sobr then put it back.I ran a rescan and since then I have the "Configuration Database Resynchronize" job running for almost 63 hours ....There are 15TB of backups on the S3 storage.Is it normal that it takes so long? What can I do?Thanks

After setting up our first secure linux repo at work I had the thought of adding some more at branch office locations. Initially, I wondered if it would be possible to take a raspberry pi to host the ubuntu server, but soon came to the conclusion the Veeam agent service is not likely to support ARM. I wanted something small we could drop in a locked server closet and push copies out overnight.So where I have ended up is running/testing this on my home lab: Secure linux repo setup on an old SFF x64 Celeron machine that was decommissioned with the Win 7 EOL. It’s equipped with 4GB RAM, gig ethernet, and a 5TB WD USB 3 drive. Loaded up community edition on my Win 10 Hyper V install and loaded the agent on the host desktop. Disabled IPv6 on the Veeam app server and my agent installed desktop to alleviate some veeam proxy connection errors occurring mid-job and away we go. Hi, all I am wanting to get some insight and pick you all’s brains on your best practices when it comes to copyjobs. Here’s the situation I am in:I have backups servers that have fairly complex backups schedules that range from hourly backups to daily, and even weekly backups. Lately I have been running into copyjob failures that say “the restore point is locked by another job”. This is happening when primary backup file healthchecks, merges, or defrags run. I created a topic about this, last week, and @Chris.Childerhose gave me some good insight. I guess I am at take 2, at this point, and I need you all’s input. The problem is, I have no idea how to schedule the copyjobs around these schedules...there just really isn’t a way, and consequently, i don’t know of a way to avoid these failures. Hi,  We are using Veeam to back up our on Prem HyperV VMs with no problem.  This is working like a dream.  What we urgently need to do is restore a VM to AWS EC2 that we can RDP onto.Ive tried this but when I start the EC2 instance RDP just doesnt work…. Some backgroundWe have an on-prem domain mydomain.local with two physical host servers that contain around 9 VMsThis onprem set up is also covered by Forticlient VPNIn AWS we have a VPC (for example myVPC) with a public and private subnets.  Im able to spin up new EC2 instances into both subnets and connect them to our domain and login with a mydmomain\User for example with no problem.  The issue is when restoring a VM to EC2 via Veeam to our public subnet - there is no way I can RDP to it.  Ive checked that the security group has RDP 3389 listening but no joy.  I cant imagine that Im the only person who has tried to do this????  Does anyone have any advice or walkthrough on this?  As it’s really giving me a massive headache! Many than
