Error running aws 3 cloud backup

We have contracted with a cloud backup service for Veeam Backup with bucket. We have been experiencing problems for a few days with the following errors.1- Error when trying to connect to the cloud repository to perform a Veeam backup.We have a backup job in Veeam Backup that sends 7 VMs to the cloud repository, however, on several days the error below occurs when trying to send this backup:2- This problem is generally occurring whenever the first problem occurs and it would be some type of error related to the tasks that Veeam Backup performs.The errors that occur are the following:

New in v11: combine vSphere tags

@PValsecchi already showed how to use vSphere tags for VM selection in VBR. New in v11 is the possibility to combine vSphere tags. I want to show how this work. For that, I created two tag categories. One for Location and one for Backup. I defined datacenter A and B locations; and Gold, Silver and Bronze backup priority. These tags are assigned to my 4 test VMs:So: VM01 and VM03 (odd numbers) are located in DC A. VM02 and VM04 (even numbers) are in DC B. VM01 and VM02 are defined for Gold-Backup, VM03 for Silver, VM04 for Bronze. First, I select one Tag for VM selection: DC A. This can be done either with single tag selection or with new combination of tags but just select one.As expected, when backup runs, VM01 and VM03 are selected:Next, I want to backup all Gold-Backup VMs in DC B and select these tags: Objects shown in Job definition:Just VM02 has all tags assigned: Fine, works as expected! And now, backup all VMs in DC A and B:Eventually here is a pitfall. Because now nothing will

tape drive shows red sign on Veeam

Hello everyone, We have an HPE MSL3040 tape library and we have two F.C drives on it. The drives are detected on the Veeam server but one of them shows a red sign (screenshot attached). On device manager both drives are properly working. we are unable to use the parallel processing feature because the second drive seems to be non functional. Any ideas as to why this could be happening? Thanks in advance for your support.

Issue with SMTP Notification Emails After Update to Version 12

Dear Veeam Community,I hope this finds you well. I've encountered an issue after updating to Veeam Version 12 and was hoping someone might have come across a similar problem or can provide some guidance.**Problem Description:** After the update, I am unable to send notification emails. I consistently receive the error message: "Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings." I am certain of my credentials, having double-checked multiple times.Steps Taken:1. I've tried all configuration variants using both ports 587 and 465.2. When using port 465, I am able to apply the settings, but an error then displays.3. With port 587, the error surfaces after sending the test message.**Mail Server Error Logs:** From the logs, the following sections raised concerns:* `SASL login authentication failed`* `TLS library problem: error:14094412:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:sslv3 alert bad certificate`The error regarding the TLS library is particularly concerning.

Who likes Tofu? The Linux Foundation announces OpenTofu

Hey folks,It seems like just yesterday that HashiCorp announced changes to the Terraform licensing plan and already there is a possible alternative on the horizon. At the recent VeeamOn Tour, held in London, I was lucky enough to be asked to sit on a Veeam Vanguard panel, to talk about the topic of data security, which led to the question "Everyone should have a recovery plan, but how do you ensure it is reliable?". Very Large VM Size

Hello,I’m backing up a single physical server that uses about 128GB of storage.  However, the “VM Size” as reported by the restore wizard is 834GB.  Why so large?Thanks for any insight,FrankV drive is external USB  USB drives are excluded

Veeam B&R does not backup over FC switch

Hello,We have three ESXi servers connected to our Nimble storage using a Brocade Fibre Channel switch, each ESXi server connects to Nimble storage with individual zone as: ESXi1_Nimble, ESXi2_Nimble, ESXi3_Nimbe.A few months after this configuration was done, we added a physical server for Veeam B&R v12 as backup server and repository, which is also a backup proxy server. This is connected to the same FC switch and I created zone between the Veeam B&R server and the Nimble storage as:  VeeamBR_NimbleAnd most recently, we added a HPE tape library to this mix for GFS tape backups. Added the library to the FC switch and created a zone between VeeamBR_HPETapeDrive. Each night, the Veeam B&R server runs backup jobs then stores into its local repository (D: drive). Then it runs backup to tape, which writes from the Veeam B&R backup repository into tape drive. I have already configured "Direct storage access" while configuring Backup proxy's Transport mode. The backup jobs do

SQL restart when doing Instant DB recovery

SQL restart when doing Instant DB recoveryThe Database went offline and in Recovery Pending state. It is currently doing Instant DB Recovery. Is it safe to restart SQL to bring the Database online without affect transactions already in the cache folder? Would it affect the Instant DB recovery process (I don’t think so but better to ask). What other processes should we consider before doing a restart of the SQL? Thanks.

Veeam One 11 pdf scheduled report - landscape orientation?

I recently upgraded my Veeam One to version 11 (and yes looking at v12 soon)  and the scheduled PDF reports use to come in landscape but are now showing in portrait mode.    Basically I want the report data to not be split across 2 different pages.  I vaguely remember I had to change something in V10, but can’t remember if it was a browser setting, registry setting, or something else.I do not currently have the SQL reporting services installed, but can do so. And how can this setting stick to version 12?

Veeam Only Service Provider Planning

TL;DR: The first comment I’ve made, after this post, is details of specific problems, and doesn’t really need to be read unless you want to give advice on the specifics. The second comment is more significant, as is this post.As I seem to be continually fighting against Veeam's overall design/features/capabilities to make things work for over a year now I thought I'd ask a general planning question to determine if maybe there's just a better way to be using Veeam that isn't what we're doing now. Since I imagine we can't possibly the only company that provides a managed cloud-based backup service using Veeam, but isn't a full MSP.Fair warning, this is going to be a little ranty, but I've been dealing with this on a daily basis for over a year now and so my frustration with trying to make it work is rather high.My main goal here is to not really "start over" but essentially act like I'm starting over, and determine if maybe the entire way I'm using Veeam should be done differently. Next Venture - vSphere 8 book possibly

Well today I had a discussion with Packt Publishing about the potential for writing a book on vSphere 8.  So, this will be on top of my current Veeam books and branches into virtualization, mainly vSphere that I also know.If there is anyone out there that has thought about writing or collaborating on a book reach out to me as I am still debating on doing this one solo.  Even if you have just topics that you would like to see covered would be a great help. 😁More to come on this possible new adventure.

Unstable Internet Connections

As a service provider we regularly have customers with unstable internet connections for some or all of their devices, some on slow DSL connections, some on cellular hotspots, some that have high speed connections that still fail from time to time. In my experience this is one major place where Veeam fails miserably when compared to other software, it doesn’t handle poor connections very well. I figure this is mostly another aspect of Veeam that’s leftover from the original “in-house” design Veeam originally had for backing up VMWare systems locally, but now that it’s more widely used by service providers backing up over the internet, it doesn’t seem to work very well in my experience.I’m curious if other people have had similar issues and what you may have done to resolve it. I’ll admit that I’m really tired of having to implement more tweaks and workarounds and fudging with registry keys and configuration files in order to make Veeam work when I know I could just be using other softw

good mornig, i’m a new user for this comunity , I have a question with vmware essential 8.0 u1  and veeam  comunity edition.I  try to create a network 10gb between two host vmware , first host DELL T630 32GB RAM RAID 5 SAS CPU 8 CORE  vmware essential 8.0 u1 latest patch with intel x520 da2 card and 1gb card , second host  DELL T640 32GB MAMORY RAID 5 SAS CPU 10CORE vmware 8.0u1 latest patch card intel x520 da2 and 1gb card , vm veeam 12 comunity latest patch 4 CORE  8GB RAM 400GB HDD. network witch 1gb and mikrotik switch 10gb.I don't reach 10gb speed  with vm copy between t630 e t640 only 1,2 gb max why?  Vm copy job  with external (no t630)veeam repository  2,4 gb speed max I need help to resolve the problem .I do not understand if the problem is vmware restriction or veeam backup
