We've been a certified Scality ARTESCA partner for almost six months. In addition to my lab installations, I've already deployed four productive ARTESCA systems for our customers, both single-node and three-node cluster systems.
Since the beginning of June, version 3.1.1 has been available for Scality ARTESCA.
Documentation & Release Notes
The corresponding documentation and release notes can be found at https://documentation.scality.com/ . Access is via OneLogin with an existing Scality account.

To upgrade from version 3.1.0 or 3.0.X to the latest version, follow the steps described here: https://documentation.scality.com/Artesca/3.1.1/upgrade.html . Or check out the step-by-step process in the corresponding blog post here .
ARTESCA UI
After successfully logging into the ARTESCA UI with the appropriate authorization…

…we are greeted by a notification that a new ARTESCA version is available.
The update components can be downloaded via the ARTESCA UI, as in this scenario, with the appropriate firewall rule enabled and a login with admin privileges.
Alternatively, the entire process can also be performed via the console (also with an offline package). The procedure differs slightly accordingly.

After clicking "Download," you'll be prompted to authenticate with your existing Scality OneLogin username . Additional information: the username (not the account email address) for downloads is usually different from your regular Scality OneLogin account (email address).

After successful login, the download of the required update components will begin.
Depending on your connection, this process will take a few minutes; you can let this process run in the background while other tasks are performed on the user interface. The download status is displayed in the notification center.

Once the download is complete, you'll be prompted to continue the upgrade process. The appropriate commands for updating the operating system and upgrading ARTESCA will be listed:
sudo ./artesca-installer os-update
sudo ./artesca-installer upgrade

OS Update
The update steps now take place on the console. I use the user artesca-os for this . With the command sudo ./artesca-installer os-update

During the operating system update, the nodes will be rebooted. However, for clusters with 3 or 6 nodes, this will not result in any service interruption.
If the node running the ARTESCA installer needs to be restarted, the connection to that node will be lost.
After rebooting the system and logging in again, the ARTESCA system can be updated directly.

ARTESCA Upgrade
After rebooting, we can update the actual ARTESCA system with the command sudo ./artesca-installer upgrade .
Important:
- The upgrade is divided into five steps: platform > base > data > storage > post .
- If the upgrade fails, it can continue from the point where it failed.

… somewhat later …

In the two environments in which I performed the upgrade, the entire process took approximately 60-90 minutes per system.
The upgrade for a 3-node cluster is currently still on my roadmap and is scheduled for July. I will provide feedback here if it differs significantly.

After the upgrade is successful, the message ARTESCA upgrade completed successfully is displayed.
A subsequent login to the UI shows the new version 3.1.1 and the End of Support Date valid for this version, in this case February 5, 2026.

Conclusion
After that, you can say the process is straight-forward. There were no problems in either environment. Plan appropriate downtimes for consuming services like Veeam and others, and there shouldn't be any nasty surprises. Good luck and enjoy
