Hello All,When I log into Kasten-io system, I occasionally get "Slow Connection Dashboard-SVC Respond Slow" Error on the screen. Has anyone encountered and resolved this issue before? Thanks,Emre ÖZER
Hi all, During the V12 event there was an on-demand content video about Veeam-Man: Master of the Dataverse! If you haven't seen it, it's belowAs far as I have been told, the “ad” tells you that the action figures are sold separately. But, as one might expect it isn't (officially) available.
Greetings,Below is a part of Cohesity's multi-layered protection against a ransomware attack as mentioned in the Cohesity datasheet, there is a document for best practices when configuring carving regular repositories and/or SOBR from Cohesity to the Veeam Server and this is can be done over SMB or NFS protocols. my question is if we followed these best practices, can we leverage Immutable snapshots and Datalock from Cohesity with Veeam Backup? also I read this on Reddit:

A data center consists of groups of networking and computational infrastructure that process and store information for a business in a central location. To keep it secure, businesses must employ both virtual and physical systems designed to protect the data center. In addition to protecting the organization's computational assets, specific network security measures must be implemented to prevent malware attacks and other threats from penetrating the data center. Considering the above details how Incident management is a series of steps taken to identify, analyze, and resolve critical incidents to protect from Ransomware attacks what are steps taken veeam
Friends,I have a backup scheduled to automatically run daily to a network shared folder on a windows 2019 server, which I access through a share as the local admin of that server. After executing this backup, the hd where this folder is located becomes available, showing the error stating that the folder is not accessible with the warning of "incorrect function".That server is a virtual machine and runs on hyper-v.This hd that is unavailable is mounted on this virtual machine (hyper-v).For me to solve this problem I need to turn off the virtual machine and also the host, when it starts it goes back to normal. Thanks,JJ
I would be interested to know which tool for IT infrastructure you use for your or your customers environment. Here is a completely unsorted list of tools I use frequently in various environments:PowerShell with various modules like VMware PowerCLI (by the way, version 12.3 was released today) and Veeam VBR. RVtools. I think this is a widely known and used tool. Get a very detailed inventory of your vSphere environment within a few mouse-clicks. New version 4.1.2 was released yesterday. Brocade SANHealth. I think, this tool is not that well known. For me, it is THE tool for Fibre Channel fabric documentation. Just install the tool, put in data of FC switches, capture date. Then upload to brocade (respectively Broadcom). After a few hours you get a link to a extremely detailed, fully automatically generated documentation (Excel und Visio). As an alternative to putty, I prefer MobaXterm. There is a free and a paid version. It offers features like sending commands to multiple sessions

Network throttling is not used in every environment. Mostly in connection with branch offices. Here it is essential to not overload the connection to the head quarter. To throttle network before, you had to configure source and destination network and time windows to limit bandwidth for backup traffic. With v12 there are new features:Generally use public addresses for target range. Option to never throttle restore activities. Select a time frame to higher the limit.
Hello everybody! Say hello to Veeam Help Center v12: https://www.veeam.com/documentation-guides-datasheets.html
Another new feature when restoring (Windows) files is the possibility to restore only the permissions. This can be helpful if you accidentally activate inheritance for a directory. You can select single files or a directory. As usual, a summary is displayed when the job is completed. The error shown in the screenshot is due to a file that has already been deleted and for which the permissions cannot be restored. For this to work, network connection must be established. VIX does not work here.
It’s time to build the hype and readiness for V12! And as I announced on the special episode #100 of the Veeam Community Recap, I’m going to make a news hub here where everything you need for V12 can be viewed in one place leading up to the launch. Upon GA; I’ll also put a link to the V12 Upgrade Center (like I did for V11). I will target updating this weekly, and if you have a blog/external resource about V12 - be sure to put it in the comments below. Last updated: 30-January 2023 IMPORTANT: V12 Release UpdateThe RTM release of V12 has been made available to partners on 30-January. RTM is the release for partners or for customers needing/seeking early availability of the product. If you use a Veeam Cloud Service Provider or VCSP (such as those here: http://vee.am/splookup ) for Veeam-Powered Services; you will need to ensure that the VCSP has upgraded first. End users using VCSPs should not upgrade ahead of the service provider. Check with your service provider if you are using on
A feature that was already available in Veeam Explorer for Active Directory now finds its way into the Windows File Level Restore: Compare with Production. This gives you the option to view the differences between the files in the restore point and the current files in production. After pressing the button, you will be asked for the user with the required permissions. Then you see state for files and directories. What you not see are new files in production that are not in the selected restore point. You can also show differences in file attributes. At least in tested version, this feature (and the following) does not work for Linux.
Hi all, I need support to find the correct way to merge 2 VEEAM Server into one.We have VEEAM A and VEEAM B, both with their data domain. for now these two servers are separate and we want to merge A and B to have only A.In my head we have to:Configure the DD of the VEEAM B on VEEAM A and rescan it. Configure a backup job with the VMs of the VEEAM B on the VEEAM A and, during the configuration, map the backup.if we take these steps are we OK or I’m missing something?Thank you.
I have a very unstable wireless connection on an endpoint that likes to go down during periods of high use, or just whenever it feels like it. Addressing the connection issue remains its own task, but for the time being, it seems like the Veeam Agent (Agent for Microsoft Windows 5.0.3.4708) is very intolerant to any sort of network issues. When the connection inevitably goes down, the backup process will be cancelled with the error:Error: write: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Failed to backup file. I’ve looked through the backup settings, and I did see one section titled Backup Cache which apparently is supposed to cache the backup locally until Veeam can connect to the server. Despite having this option enabled, the Agent still throws its hands up at the first sign of network trouble.Hoping there is someone here who knows a magic trick to get the Agent to tolerate unstable connections, or can at least pass this along to the appropriate team. Thanks!

When auditors come knocking—or worse, when bad actors strike—not having accurate and complete event logs can make all the difference in how your organization survives the encounter. However, users are often understandably more focused on day-to-day operations and only think to look for this information once it’s needed (and when time is of the essence). The good news is that all the information you need—including where to find changes in Veeam server user access permissions, failed login attempts, and failed RDP connections—is available in several different locations, including:Windows Event Viewer Veeam Backup and Replication Audit logs for performed restores Veeam One Audit log The individual application log(s) Windows Event ViewerMany Veeam activities (success, warning, and failures) get logged to the Windows Event viewer by default. To see these events from within the Veeam Backup and Replication (VBR) server, open the Windows Event Viewer console and Migrate to the Veeam Backup node
I want to continue my post series about little new features in the new v12 realease. Here are 3 little things that will make administrators live a little easier.Modern Authentication for mail notificationsPrior to v12 it was just possible to set SMTP server settings for basic authentication. With v12 you can add Microsoft 365 and Google Gmail for mail notification too. More intuitive Add Storage dialogIn older version, it was necessary to press Show more vendors when adding a storage product that is not listed. With v12, all vendors are listed in a scroll-able list. New default with new repositoriesWith v12 Use per-machine backup files is the new default option when adding a new backup repository.

The workstation is in a Protection Group and Agent Version 5.0.3.4708 is installed. The workstation was added over the Active Directory and the AD shows Windows 10 Professional is installed. I also logged into the workstation and yes indeed Windows 10 Professional is installed. Windows 11 is blocked from installing in our Network using a GPO and the Workstation was not upgraded to Windows 11 and then reset back to Windows 10.Its been showing the warning since Tuesday. Removing it from the Protection Group and re-adding it does not help.
Happy Friday everyone, Today’s inspiration for Fun Friday comes from Reddit. I saw a picture today of a fibre cable broken by… an arrow!https://www.reddit.com/r/nevertellmetheodds/comments/10ya76l/arrow_accidentally_pierces_fiber_utility_line_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 Sometimes shocking events like this happen that you just wish you’d caught on camera. Reminds me of the time that I had a 2-post UPS, had just installed it into the rack, and all the cage nuts sheered simultaneously, and it crashed down onto an LCD monitor that we weren’t allowed to relocate. The best part? The hinge bent back on the monitor but was still in-tact, and the screen! Of which the bezel had taken the full force of the UPS! Anyone got a good “Can’t believe this happened” story to share?
