Any ideas?

Hey Guys, Sorry for the weekend help, I am just too excited to leave VEEAM aloneI have googled and read other forum discussions to this topic but they all point towards a service not being started and in my case, everything is running, and I have rebooted everything also coming here for some helpI am in no rush this weekend, this can wait until MondayError message: Error: Managed session has failed: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it x.x.x.x:10005   Thanks in advance guys,

Not sure if I am missing something obvious but I have been poking around and I can’t find how to increase a CDP Proxy cache, without removing and re-adding. Thats seems a bit drastic and alot more work. Anyone been across this before ? Thanks Phil

Hi,I’m testing out the free Veeam Backup Agent for Windows (or whatever it’s called).  I’m using the option to automatically start a backup when I plug in my USB Hard Drive.  The option seems to work fine, but I don’t get any notification when the job starts so I always have to expand my tray and then hover over the icon to make sure it says Processing...Is there any way to get a standard Windows 11 pop up notification thing that would tell me when a job starts so I know it’s working?  I have the box checked for Enable control panel notifications, but I don’t know what that does because it doesn’t seem to do anything. Thanks!

Hello, I thought I would give the new BETA2 version of the Veeam Linux deployment a spin. Booting up to the jeOS, I was surprised to see two new options:Veeam Infrastructure Appliance Veeam Infrastructure Appliance (with iSCSI & NVME)Detailed in the screenshot below, with the BETA1 version following:BETA2 BETA1Is this the new name for a Proxy or is this something else? And, the thing I’m probably most excited about….are we finally getting NVMe fabric support on Veeam?

Hi community, We recently performed a failover of vm100 to maintain server operations during a scheduled upgrade. The replica VM is currently running as expected. However, we are now unable to initiate a failback to the production site. The process fails due to an invalid disk configuration on the running replica vm100. When attempting to edit the VM settings to remove the problematic disk, vSphere returns the following error:"Invalid configuration for device '0'"Scsi 0.5 mapped to Hard disk 6 in vm100_replica.Supposedly, in original VM, there should be no Hard Disk 6. But the replica somehow attached the Hard disk 6 Does deleting the oldest VM snapshot will help anything. Is there a way to delete this Hard Disc 6?  Thanks!

Dear,I have an certification VMCE 2023 I would like is this certification is expired or notCan I upgrade my VMCE when VBR 13 is available Best Reagrds

Hi,When using hardened linux repository, veeam services add some temporary rules to UFW, allowing traffic between backup components:[ 4] 6162/tcp ALLOW IN Anywhere # Veeam transport rule[ 5] 2500/tcp ALLOW IN Anywhere # Veeam rule eeba7ea1-3cd4-4251-8800-9fa455f03ece[ 6] 2501/tcp ALLOW IN Anywhere # Veeam rule eeba7ea1-3cd4-4251-8800-9fa455f03ece[ 7] 2507/tcp ALLOW IN Anywhere # Veeam rule eeba7ea1-3cd4-4251-8800-9fa455f03ece Is there any way to limit source IPs ?Is there any config file to insert source IPs, so that veeam service can use those IP for creating UFW rules?

If we completed the VMCE on 2023 then if we want to take VMCE 2025 for example, then the training is mandatory or we can go directly by taking the exam?

I have some question about VDC for M365 below. If I have 500 license, is there any tolerance how much the user can excedeed than owned license? 1 license will be counted if the user have mailbox? If we have 200 user have mailbox and 500 sharepoint site how we can understand how much license will be consumed?

Today i googling that VBR can connect to the VDC for backup repository. Anyone ever using this scenario? And if VBR conencted to VDC is there any additional cost?

Recovered VMs not powering up in Datalab test due to unable to access virtual hard disks.Have a couple of large VMs with multiple disks (60 and 90 TBs and 10 disks on each VM) that will not power up due to the error above. We are using storage failover and we have daily replication of the production volumes to our DR volumes. Replication status on our Storage device show that replication is successful but vsphere shows host incompatibility/permission issue accessing the disks.I don’t think that this is either a host or permission issue since the other virtual disks for the same VMs can be seen in vCenter. There are other VMs in the Orchestration and these are the only 2 servers that would not come up. Below is a screenshot from vCenter.

hello, thanks, i ran a manual re-scan of the backup repositories.why are some repositories have `skipped` ? some of the .vbm files are damaged? i know VBAR has this scary quirk where for agent backups, even if i have the .vbk, i cannot restore without the .vbmplease advise, thanks, david          Starting backup repositories synchronization         Enumerating repositories         Found 10 repositories         Processing backup repositories         br_theserver03_theen10_cdrive_old: Synchronizing         br_theserver03_theen10_ddata: skipped 1         br_theserver03_theen10_cdrive: skipped 1         br_hetz05: Synchronizing         br_theserver03_theen10_falconer_02: skipped 2         br_thevserver03_Virtual-Machine agent_vserver03_01: skipped 1         br_theserver03_theen10_cdata: No backups found         Default Backup Repository: skipped 1         br_theserver03_ts-ubuntu01: failed 1         br_theserver03_theen10_falconer: failed 1Warning    Failed to import backup path V:|br_thev

We are building a “green zone” where basic infrastructure systems including a hot standby backup environment should be running. This env is completely separated from current pro environment. This env will have no AD at the beginning. VBR is using a dedicated SQL server. Our current VBR server is running in prod domain (ideas to move it and all Veeam systems to a dedicated domain exist for a long time but were never implemented. The idea to remove the systems from domain and use Workgroup also exist). The very simple idea is currently to have a second VBR VM instance running there + some other Veeam components + a empty Linux repo and start downloading/stage backups from immutable Cloud Object Storage to a local Linux repo in this green zone ASAP to have everything local again and ready to restore. VBR server and all Veeam systems will run in Workgroup mode then. Ideally we would at least have the Veeam config backup available + all needed credentials an keys.Would this be possible out of

Whenever I'm involved in a project that includes a deduplication appliance or even a dedicated storage system, the hardware vendor typically recommends implementing replication at the hardware level. In these scenarios, I often suggest using software-based replication, orchestrated by Veeam.Which approach is truly more appropriate? Is there a best practice for this? Do both methods work effectively? My recommendation is always based on the ability to control data retention and expiration, as well as the use of GFS (Grandfather-Father-Son) policies.Should I continue to follow this line of thinking? Does using hardware-based replication affect this in any way? Is retention management compromised?

Hello, I have added a NUtanix PE in VEEAM Backup but when I Create a backup jon and under backup→ advance setting I cannot see Incremental Backup. What might be the issue. I want to create below schedule. What is by default method in VEEAM? Is it incremental or Full Backup, or a Mix? o    Create weekly full backupo    Create daily incrementalo    Set the schedule for the backups at 10 AM every every morning to run daily incremental, weekly full at Friday 10 AM Morning.o    Set retention date to 2 weeks for weekly full, 2 weeks for daily incrementials and 1 week for deduplication.

Hi All,I look for confirmation if Veeam B&R supports backups of SQL Encrypted databases on a Always ON environment. This with standard backup (vmware agent less) and via a a job with the windows agent both with application awarness. Thanks,Benny

Hi, running my normal weekly backup and came cross this: 7/31/2025 5:08:20 PM :: Error: Cannot process pending I/O request (offset: 453659656192, size: 65536): async reader terminatedCorrupted block processing thread failed unexpectedlyFailed to upload disk. Hello, Thanks,I did a fresh install of VBR on a new machine, using freshly downloaded, latest .iso i did a succesful agent backup of MACH94. Then I tried to agent backup SERVER02 and that failed. “5/28/2024 6:08:33 PM :: Error: The specified path is invalid. Error: in [VctSetCtStorePath] at step [3] Agent failed to process method {VeeamVolumeCt.SetUserStorePath}“

The storage system is in the SynchronizationFailed state Failed to synchronize storage data: An item with the same key has already been added. Key: 4422-afbb-aass-xdxd….. I would like to try removing and adding the affected storage but not really sure to what extent this would affect the Orchestration Plans. Or could this just be a DB issue?

Hi all,We are currently facing an issue during the installation of CDP (Continuous Data Protection) in our vSphere 8.0.3 environment. Setup: Hosts are updated exclusively using offline ISO images ISO files are internally validated and approved via change control Online depots are completely disabled vLCM is configured with only our custom HPE ISO (VMware-ESXi-8.0.3-24674464-HPE-803.0.0.12.1.0.11-apr2025.iso) vCenter version: 8.0.3 Hosts affected: esxi03.cloud.local (and others) Problem:When attempting to install CDP, remediation fails with the following error: Host 'esxi03.cloud.local' was not processed, the reason: 'Failed to validate the checksum of VIB 'http://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/addon-main/addon/HPE/vib20/qfle3/QLC_bootbank_qfle3_1.4.51.0-1OEM.700.1.0.15843807.vib', because the computed checksum differs from the expected one stored in metadata. Make sure the specified VIB is NOT corrupted and the expected checksum stored in metadata is correct.'

Does it make sense to use a separate vCenter with one ESXi host for SureBackup, or can SureBackup be configured on the production vCenter, just using a dedicated ESXi host for SureBackup?

Dobrý deň.Do siete budeme mať pripojené dva nove SMB zdielane disky, každy o veľkosti cez 20 TB.Vedeli by ste poradiť s vytvorením/nastavením backupu? Diskusia okolo toho by sa mi hodila :)

We back up to disk then duplicate to tape for offsite storage. Not quite ready for cloud backups yet. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Quantum LTO-9 tape drives with Veeam backup. I have quotes for two models. TD-L92BN-AR and TD-L93CN-AR. Thanks.
