From my personal experience, I’ve worked with Hyper-V as IT Admin, and after a couple of years, we moved all Hypervisors back to Vsphere.It has great features, but doesn't seems to be as robust as vsphere.If I would bet for one, I will always choose vsphere, not even other Hypervisor,it works, has a huge and great community, support is great!Integration with Veeam is also amazing.cheers.
I would go easy with the Enterprise manager, and consume the instances from there,also manage the backups with the “easy tasks” it provides.You just need a Windows server to install it, and its very straightforward forward the installation and management.If you purchase 20 instance, there is a “security border” to overpass the consumption, but once in a while check your assigned licenses, to not overuse them and get any license issues.cheers.

Holy Guacomole! you have a huge basement and great lab. My basement is all done and my wife said no way to anything technical so I have to hide laptops in different places. I had one successfully acting as a server on the floor until…. my cat Carlos decided to chase after a spider down there… :( Actually, it’s my garage. Basement is not as large, but I can get 4 cars in my garage and still have some space for a shop/storage area. Unfortunately, after 15 years, it’s near filled with crap and needs a massive cleaning. That’s huge bro!inhave a small warehouse, but as I also read somewhere, the wife is tracing me to reduce the lab day by day!and my Diogenes IT syndrome it’s being active many years!cheers!
I’m lucky we have so much hydro power here. 1 rate, all year, all hours. never changes. It’s hard to calculate when different hours are busier than others, or seasons. Also I can look around but threes a good chance I have some extra ram kicking around somewhere too. I just checked and I have 128GB of Hynix HMA82GR7MFR4N-UH 16GB DDR4-2400MHz PC4-19200 ECC Registered CL17 288-Pin DIMM 1.2V Single Rank Memory Module. Too bad that won’t work in a G8. 😭thanks buddy!had to try.

Does anyone have spare ram for a Proliant Gen 8?? 128GB extra would be soooo nice! 🤣🤣🤣 cheers! 🤙 I might be able to come up with some RAM for you Luis. I have a couple of DL180 G8 or G9’s that are being retired…..I just need to go pick them up since I just replaced them with PowerEdge R440’s a couple months ago. HiIve seen setup with a Physical Veeam server, connected directly to the SAN for talking with the storage cabinets, and then another Nic for management, being able to talk to the vcenter, but no other networks or environments, and did the job pretty good.as @Scott mentioned, adding the storage and their credentials for storage snapshots, and in my usecase, the vcenter credentials due to those backups were taken from vsphere.IF you have the opportunity to talk to a Veeam B&R Architect, it would be a dream, also having a look into your infra with a diagram and the available hardware / resources.cheers.

First time posting here; please take it easy on me, lol. I am looking for a budget device for office site backup copies. We have been using an older Synology DSPlay, but it just died. Having something that integrates with Veeam or that my Veeam server could directly connect to (network-based) would be nice. I would love to know what others are doing for a budget storage system for backup copies. We are currently backing up to a super micro storage server, syncing to Amazon, and I would like the local off-site option back in the mix. HiIF you are doing local, Amazon (outside) I would suggest a local Immutable storage, Linux Server or a deduplicated immutable storage like HPE StoreOnce.But just to know, are you doing backups from veeam to Amazon S3? or other workaround to Amazon?Have you check Wasabi S3 Storage for cloud backup?Here you can see the link with some Veeam partners regarding storage:https://www.veeam.com/alliance-partner-integrations-qualifications.html?page=1cheers.

For avoiding networking issues, I normally virtualize a pfsense or OPNsense and NAT the “external” network, and then I start deploying host only networks or NAT networks, keeping them separated from the Bridge network, so I don't get any dependency on the local “real”nics and the IP ranges.

Hi mates,Just an small intervention here, maybe I overlooked a message or information, but just to add something.If the task its just a Réplica, very tight in time and recursive, It would be a good idea to activate the Backup Window Feature at the Replica task, and define the time period when the Backup is made, so the replica will stop before the backup.just add some “extra time” to let the Veeam / Hypervisor end the task and merge the Snapshots before jumping to the next task, and you should good to go.cheers.

a draw will help a bit.but, first of all, make sure your Veeam Agent is up to date, and working properly, you can run the test adding another task and local storage for the test.then, for my understanding, are those USB drives connected to a “remote” PC shared over network?or do you have there installed a Veeam B&R Server managing that agent, and the USB drives presented to the server as repos?cheers.
