Tape Configuration Issues

Hi @clownyboots178 -I am just following up on your tape server space issue post here. Were you able to resolve what the issue was? Did Veeam Support get your issue resolved? Veeam on workgroup with domain shares

Hmmm..ok.I was going to suggest the local account approach as well, but then the DNS idea popped in my head. Also, the Backup Browser is separate. You can browse the directory structure there because it’s the backup you’ve chosen mounted to the local computer you’re running the Veeam Console from. It isn’t browsing the network. You’re browsing the backup file 🙂I'm out of ideas, other than what I've already shared. I recommend getting ahold of Support to see if they can resolve it for you.

@netw0rkn1nja - because you’re restoring to domain from a workgroup, I think the option you choose is Copy To. Can you put in the server IP in the path of the destination you’re attempting to restore to, for ex.?\\192.168.2.123\share\folder-locationIf this works, you may need to add the destination server in your local hosts file.

So, are you getting the Backup Browser window open at least? I’m trying to think about Windows here...but I do know with Linux I, at times, get prompted for credentials of the Linux server I want to restore files to, as stated from the Guide. In reviewing the Backup Browser restoring Windows files, in item #5, it does state you are prompted for credentials under the Copy Files or Folders to Console or Shared Folder section.Credentials PromptedYou’re not getting prompted though?

 Hi @netw0rkn1nja -Welcome to the Community Hub! I don’t have experience personally on the subject, but I would think you could use a local admin account from the domain server you’re restoring to and it would work, or at the very least a domain admin account of the domain the server you’re restoring to is a part of? Does either of these acct types not work?

vbr 12.1 False positive malware detection

“I’m disappointed.  Everyone is out here reporting false positives for malware scanning.  I turned it on my production environment earlier this week or late last week and nary a peep from Veeam” ← don’t worry @dloseke  ...you’ll get them eventually I think. 🙂 I had 3 in one week (different days). Now, it’s quieted down again. I think I have some answers to my Inline Entropy scans questions as of yesterday, but not really what I was wanting to hear; altho, not unexpected. I may place my experience in an article though. I think it would benefit others as this is so new.

Wow!..nice share @Chris.Arceneaux !! Was working with Ansible a bit last summer..it’s no joke; and imo not a real easy code to work with. Appreciate the efforts!

Yep..understood @Shaokat . Since the Guide doesn’t explicitly state inbound vs outbound, you can either contact Support or post for clarification from Product Managers in the Forum. Again, I think it’s bi-directional, but am not 100% certain (my environment is internal so no f/w rules need set).I didn’t see anything definitive in the Veeam Best Practice Gude either. But, they have a tool I just found out about today, which may help. I’m not sure if the tool is just for Windows devices, or if it can be used for network f/w reference as well. You can test it out here.

And, when you install Veeam and its components (Proxies, Repos, etc), the installer already creates needed Windows f/w rules on the servers, as you can see from the Ports page in the Guide (see below):Veeam PortsSo theoretically, you shouldn’t need to manipulate your Windows f/w. With Linux OS, you may need to.

As I refresh the page, it appears Wesley already shared the area which you need to focus on. 🙂Veeam doesn’t explicitly state for each port to be either inbound or outbound. But, I do believe communication is bi-directional between components so I believe both inbound and outbound connections need to be open for the given ports.

Veeam Backup and Replication Ports Requirements

Are you talking about recovery using Veeam Replication? Ports listed in the Guide cover all Veeam components. Do you run Replication VBR server separate in your DR location? This is recommended, if you’re able to do so. To perform Replication Failover in the event of mishap at your DC1 site, you don’t need a Proxy in the DR side for the Failover/Recovery process, as your replica VMs are just actual vSphere (assume you’re running VMware) virtual machines in vCenter with snapshots as restore points. So, when you Failover, you’re basically just going through Veeam to power on the vSphere VM.Hope this helps. Let us know if you have further questions.

v11 ProdExample from v11 Prod, no throughput show, no live progress tracking, but at the end it does display the PR. 🤔🤔 So, somewhat normal behavior in v12 then?

Thanks for the share!I believe everything in the Veeam BP Guide is “community-driven” ...and by Veeam SEs. So, it may take time to get certain parts of it updated. Hopefully this part will be updated soon.

To run some kind of script to do specifically what you’re wanting, you would really need to play with some of the tools online, like netsh advfirewall firewall tool, with a little bit of a “how-to” page from Microsoft here; or, use Powershell, using MS “how-to” page here and here.Hope this helps.

Just to be sure, I did another quick migration but this time with storage vmotion and yes, same symptom:     Unfortanately, I don’t have any lab with v11 to test. I hope support can help you with this problem @jaceg23  Interesting. Glad you could at least replicate the behavior @wesmrt . Hopefully Support can come up with a resolution.
