how to configure actul IBM tape library on veeam backup server

Veeam researching support for VMware alternative Proxmox as backup buyers fret about Broadcom

We’re currently moving from Hyper-V & Veeam to Proxmox. A Proxmox-Veeam solution would be great for us. As we’ll use Proxmox in a testing environment for the next 6 months, we could beta-test Proxmox & Veeam. Hi @foolonthehill - there is a post on the Forum I recommend following along to keep on eye on Proxmox support. Veeam v12.1 Issues?

Hello. After 12.1 upgrade I have an error on a proxy veeam when “disk discovering” on rescan :   [16.04.2024 16:19:18.936]    <17>   Error (3)    Access denied or timeout expired. [16.04.2024 16:19:18.936]    <17>   Error (3)    Check if you have local administrator privileges on computer “xxxxxxxxx” Privileges are ok (admin account) Antivirus exceptions are ok A ticket opened at support, waiting solution. At the very least, you can remove the Proxy & readd it. If any of your Jobs use this Proxy explicitly, just temporarily change them to use Proxies "Automatically". Remove the Proxy; remove it as a Managed Server; then readd as Managed Server; then readd as Proxy. If any Jobs had this Proxy explicitly added, reassign it to the given Job(s).

Backup only one client in Protection Group

Hi @Hammer -Yes...you should be able to perform a Quick Backup of just 1 computer in your Protection Group. You can read more about Quick Backup from the Veeam Agent Management Guide:https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/agents/quick_backup_start.html?ver=120As it states, it is an incremental backup, not a full.​Also, a couple limitations exist, which you should already meet:There needs to be at least 1 full for the computer The computer must be protected by the Veeam Backup serverGo to Inventory view > Physical Infrastructure, click on the Protection Group, then rt-click the computer & select Quick Backup

But, besides the 2 I shared above, what other method is available?…. 🤔 Well if we are talking new 12.1 - Yara inline scanning.  😁 Kinda, but not quite. Specifically, what task do you select to do Yara scanning, or A/V even?

The other ones that are not supported are - RDM and multi-writer disks (shared disks). 😎 This is ½ true - specifically, RDM in physical mode 😊 Virtual Mode is supportedWell done! 🙌🏻

VBK files to be kept for restore

As Chris shared, only if they are part of a chain are they required. Unless you're in dire need to manually remove them (regain disk space maybe?), if you have the Deleted Items setting enabled in your Jobs, you can just let Veeam worry about retention and deleting them.
