Catalyst store to tape backup not working

Hi,  I am trying to create a backup to tape job. The source is a repository. The repository is a catalyst store (StoreOnce 3640). Although there are backup files on the catalyst store generated by an RMAN plugin job, The job is unable to read any full or incremental backup files and the job completes but doesn’t process anything. I can browse the store on the devices management interface and see the backup files. But it is not being detected on Veeam side. I’m using Veeam version 12. I’ve attached a screenshot.  Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone know of an iOS app

I have heard of a few 3rd party apps for iOS but they dont seem to be up and running anymore does anyone know of a way to manage or even view my VEEAM environment via an app for iOS?

Veeam file copy jobs.

Do you guys use these? If you do give an example of how they help you in your day to day activities. For myself, I have been a RoboCopy guy for years. I often schedule a task and let it run with no issues. It’s great for seeding directory's for file server migrations, or just making sure you have a mirrored folder somewhere else on the network. Recently I had an odd request to sync a folder from one location to another, but there were strict firewall rules for security an access rules. RoboCopy was not an option. As Veeam had access to both servers, I was able to create a copy job on a schedule and solve this issue.  As we have very strict user permissions in many areas, this feature is a game changer for us. Even if it’s to copy files to another location for safe keeping.

Backup of physical veeam fails after update V11 to V12

Hi,I would like to know if someone else had a issue after upgrading V11 to V12.The machine itself is also added to a Physical Veeam group who is taking backup of himself.Since the update it mentions that there are communication issues between both (same) servers.I have a case with Veeam, but they do not respond already for 2 days, what is odd.I do not want to investigate myself any longer, just curious if there is a simular case or experience with it with other members. Thank you!

Hi All, I am trying to upgrade Veeam backup for M365 frm 5.0.179 to 7.0.0.3604. the upgrade is getting stopped just when it gets started. Anyone faced this scenario. how to solve this.

Behaviour is different on each site with same config

Hi,I have 2 locations with a Veeam server and a vCenter cluster with 2 hosts.The configuration is on both servers identical.One one location, when running a job with application awareness, the inventorying guest system and the other preparing jobs are taking several seconds, but on the other location, it takes minutes.It does not fail, but the time of processing is much longer.The difference I see, on the ‘slow’ location, all communications running via vCenter. On the fast one, all is going direct from B&R server to the VM.Firewall rules are identical and I don’t see any blocks, so the slow one does not try to direct connect to the VM.Any ideas where to look for?The B&R server is in a seperated VLAN with explicit firewall rules between them, conform the manuals. Thank you!

Notification when VBR Job is changed

Hello all,I am looking for a "simple" way to generate a notification when a backup or copy job is edited in VBR. The idea at the beginning is just to get an info (mail), not to rate the modification, if it’s a good or bad modification. Examples of bad changes would be reducing retention, changing encryption password, etc.Ideas how to realize this? Native in VBR i think there is nothing, Veeam One? External monitoring? M365 Experts Question

Hi Folks, First off don’t ask 😁 “why do you want to do this” :), I don’t but I have no choice as the customer is going to do this and I can’t convince them otherwise. However, they are asking about consequences :(, So a customer has an M365 multitenant backup. They want to rename the server and give it a new IP. The proxies and repositories will remain the same.They are not leveraging S3 only old style repos and they have no portal my understanding is that there is no database that has recorded the console’s hostname and IP (unlike VBR) so changing the name and IP should not have any affect (only perhaps firewall stuff if they have any rules tied to the old IP).Is this correct? Thanks

OneDrive backup timeout

Hello,  Wondering if anyone knows how to get around this, Iv moved the veeam software to another host and done a clean setup trying to do the first backup of OneDrive it just keeps timing out. The console gives the error “failed to process all objects”.    Is there a setting or timeout limit I need to be adjusting somewhere? It seems to run for different amounts of time before timing out which is throwing me off. Is there a better way to do this?    Thanks in advance.

long term archive backups

I think I’ve missed something, but we have a requirement to retain backups certain machine for 7 years even after the machines have been decommissioned…How are you supposed to do that with Veeam?I can see that you can export certain backups, but so does that mean that I need to export a backup from each year to other storage?

Error with reinstall. CatalogVeeam.Backup.CatalogDataService.exe

I started installing Veaam backup&replication (v12). I ran out of space on the VM where it was installed so I aborted the installation. After I did that I got the following error when running setup.exe:An error has occurred: C:Program FilesVeeam Backup and Replication CatalogVeeam.Backup.CatalogDataService.exeI deleted as much as I could and can't find any traces of Veaam. Then tried again, but it doesn't work. Server rebooted several times as well.

VMCE 2021/VMCA 2022 Expiration

Hi, Possibly a question for @Federica or @haslund. As the VMCE & VMCA are yet to have their new exam & certification released, willl there be an extension to the expiry of the current VMCE & VMCAs?For example:I sat my VMCE 2021 in June 2021, my VMCE states it expires the 9th June 2023. Likewise I sat my VMCA in September 2021, and my VMCA states it expires the 1st September 2023. I’m conscious that this looks like it’s just an automation, but as we’re a VASP, and our ProPartner portal is showing this imminent expiry, that it could reflect badly on my organisation if my certifications have ‘expired’ even if there isn’t a replacement certification available. A second question on this, after the 2023 grade exams are available, how long will we have to upgrade before the certifications are counted as ‘expired’ within ProPartner? Thanks!

Data Flow in Veeam B&R

Hi all, I'm using Veeam B&R v11 and I have 1 Repository (HPE StoreOne) and 1 Tape (HPE MSL 3040). When data is transferred to StoreOne, the process is as follows: Source data -> Backup Proxy Server -> Backup Gateway -> HPE StoreOne.I am confused about how the data is transferred to Tape. From source or from StoreOne? Thanks/Tunglh

Can a hardened Linux repository be used by more than on VEEAM server?

I’ve looked for an answer and can’t seem to find one … Can a hardened Linux repository be used by more than on VEEAM server? I’ve tried it an it is working I wondered if there are any limitations or concerns to be worried about? For example both servers running backups at the same time? I can see based on directory naming I will need to be careful with job names that they are unique. Thanks for your time …

Hardened Repository - two mounts for different tiers?

Hi there, is it possible to have two mounts on the same hardware for a hardened repository?For example, mount-1 on an SSD-Raid for the latest 14 days of backups and mount-2 with an HDD-Raid for 3 months or something like this?Maybe both of them are presented by a Scale-out-backup-repo? Is this a good and solid option?Our customer want to have very fast restore or instant restore performace within the latest backups (SSDs) but also want an option to have several months immutable (HDDs) - but as mentioned on the same hardware. He has already some other repositories, also on different site, so this should only be an extension for immutablity.Thanks and best regardsMarkus

Trying to restore Windows backup on Openstack environment

Hi everyone,I have an issue with my Veeam Media Recovery iso for Windows. I would like to use it on an Openstack cloud platform, but this iso won't boot.I know that Veeam doesn't support officially this, but I'ld like to know if somebody here try this ?The iso was generated from my Veeam B&R 11.0.1.1261 on a Windows 2016 server backup.Here what I tried :  - testing the iso on VMware environment = work  - upload the iso on Openstack  - run the iso with a flavor which have  1 cpu, 2Gb RAM and 1Gb HDDresult = No bootable device was found  - create a volume from the iso  - make it bootable  - run the volume with a flavor which have  1 cpu, 2Gb RAM and 1Gb HDDresult = No bootable device was foundFor your information, the same step work very well with my VMR iso for Linux on my Openstack platform. I have this issue only with WindowsThanks for your help

Veeam Backup & Replication V11

Hi all,I have 2 Backup Servers (Veeam B&R v11) running independently from each other with 2 licenses (16 Sockets CPU and 24 Sockets CPU). My goal is that both Backup Servers can backup from disk -> disk(HPE StorgeOne 5200) -> Tape (HPE MSL 3040). I have some questions as follows:- Is it possible to add 1 Window Server (Use it as Tape Server) to 2 Veeam Backup Server?- Can use 2 Window Server (Use it as Tape Server) to manage 1 Tape Library (HPE MSL 3040)? If so, what needs to be done?- Is it possible to add 2 licenses to 1 Backup Server to increase the number of CPU Sockets to 40?Thanks

Problem with Hyper-V restore: Failed to restore vm. Name: [Server] ChannelError: ConnectionReset (Veeam.Backup.Common.CAppException)

Hello!I am trying to play with restoring one Hyper-V VM onto another Hyper-V server just to know what to expect in the future.So I created the Backup job which backed up this VM to the Backup repository which in turn resides in the shared folder of the second Hyper-V physical machine, i.e. is the part of the second server.After back up is done (very fast!)  I started Restore job of the Entire VM, and it fails. I tried all possible scenarios : restore entire VM, immediate restore with the following migration, I tried even importing this backup and restoring VM from imported file - ALL FAILED with the same symptoms: restoration starts very optimistically and energetically, going to the point of 45-46 GB of vhdx restoration, stops, nothing seems to be happening, only process timer shows it is still alive and ticking, and this frozen state continues for 5 to 8 hours just to get this ChannelError: ConnectionReset. Thank you!

Uploading backup to storage

Greeting,I'm trying to put together a solution for saving backups to a remote location.I created a batch procedure that installs Wireguard to the remote storage and transfers a complete backup using the Robocopy program. This solution turned out to be the best, regarding reliability and bandwidth utilization.The problem is the following: I expected that the .vbk file changes only once during retention time when a synthetic full backup is created, so that Robocopy sends me only incremental files daily, however it seems that is not the case because every day I also receive a 200GB .vbk which is not acceptable since it is uploaded at a speed of 50 Mbit/sec. Have I misunderstood something or am I doing something wrong?Please comment...
