How can I get VAW to power the computer on (from shutdown, not from sleep or hibernate)?I set the backup to turn the system on at 01:30 and run the backup, but it actually started when I switched the computer on later in the morning. Is there some Windows registry, or BIOS setting that is needed? Thanks, David
Hi ALL,I am running VBR11 and VBAz 4.0, recently all my AzureVM backup started failing. I still have over 3months of license validity.I can no longer connect to the VBA from my VBR console only can access from the browser. We are getting the following error; "Client secret has expired. Use a valid client secret or renew the application on the Service Account Type tab. This was done however the issue still persists. My Infra is still running older systems so upgrade was not an option hence no support available.Any thoughts?
Hi All, I really hope someone can help! I have Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 which is now running in community edition. I had two backup jobs, S3 to Wasabi and they have been deleted. I can see the repositories contain large amounts of data but when I attempt to restore files utilising the Veeam M365 console it only shows one restore point date.Previous backup jobs (excluding the deleted backup jobs) I had created and ran a backup copy from the existing backup job from Wasabi to a newly created Azure storage account and this appears to have worked. As I no longer have the backup jobs, what are my options of being able to restore these backups once I no longer have access to Wasabi? Thank you,Scott
Hello everyone,I need some help with an issue and hope I won’t have to contact support. I’m seeing several failures on a file backup with the following error message:Failed to perform repair backup Error: Agent: Failed to process method {NasMaster.TransformMeta}: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.Error: Agent: Failed to process method {NasMaster.TransformMeta}: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.Processing finished with errors I checked the logs, and the only thing that stands out are warnings like:Masks are not applicable for the server pathSo I understand that my exclusions cannot be taken into account. I can’t seem to find a solution; I ran a Backup health check which returned the error:Failed to perform repairing backup Error: Agent: Failed to process method {NasMaster.TransformMeta}: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. I don’t understand how to ide
Hello!I look through logs, and see this texttransport mode: [hotadd], max sectors to read/write: [8192], async I/O: [unsupported]The backup operation ends successfully, but why could possibly async I/O be unsupported for hotadd? I've changed VBR VM (it's a Default Proxy) SCSI Controller type to VMware Paravirtual and it didn't help and sincerely I'm out of options to guess. Can you suggest me a direction to dig?
Hi,we have Veeam Backup and Replication v13, Community Edition, Build 2067 on Microsoft Windows Server 2019 with Hyper-V.When I try to add a Veeam Data Cloud Vault from the Austria East Region I get the following error:The error occurs during authorization of the backup server after I login using Microsoft, including MFA and after I answer the question if I want to stay signed in (Yes or No has the same effect). If I add the same VDCV Repo on another installation of Veeam (different customer, paid version) it works.I installed the Veeam Console on the only VM of the server and I got the same error.AI suggested to check the version of a specific DLL, which is 2067.I installed a trial license, same error.I disabled all security filtering on the firewall temporarily and checked the logs.Any ideas, how this can be fixed? Thanks a lot for your help!Thomas
What are the essential ports required for windows agent based backup in veeam between windows server and backup server ( windows ) , the protection group is already existing and few servers backups are running successfully, new servers are being added to protection group and agent installation / rescan is getting failed
I am trying to add a Microsoft Azure Stack Hub account to Veeam Backup & Replication v13, but I do not see any option to add Azure Stack Hub under Cloud Infrastructure or Add Server.I also could not find any official Veeam v13 documentation related to Azure Stack Hub integration or support.Has anyone successfully configured Azure Stack Hub with Veeam v13?Is Azure Stack Hub still supported in version 13, or has the feature been removed/changed?Any guidance or documentation would be appreciated.
Can someone please help me with VMCE information. I am looking for both the paths and roadmaps, and all involved information associated with it. Also, any links for practice questions that would be helpful. TIA.
What are the drawbacks or disadvantages of using Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows when performing backups to NAS storage? This includes considerations regarding storage, network speed, and reliability.
Our company (based in Paris) was tasked with implementing a backup solution for a client located in Houston (United States), with the following objectives:- Backing up the client’s Hyper-V to a Dell EMC DataDomain storage array located in our Paris data center.- Local backup to a USB drive connected directly to the client’s Hyper-V.- The Veeam proxy is the client’s Hyper-VDuring the first full backup, we observed extremely long transfer times, far exceeding expectations. Technical Solution: TCP Window OptimizationMethod for Calculating the Optimal TCP WindowTo maximize throughput, we applied the following formula:Optimal TCP window (in bytes) = Bandwidth (bytes/s) × Latency (seconds) Link data:Bandwidth: 1 Gbps = 131,072,000 bytes/sMeasured latency: 123 ms (0.123 s) Calculation:Optimal window = 131,072,000 × 0.123 ≈ **16,121,856 bytes**We rounded this to 16,776,960 bytes (or 16 MB) to allow for a safety margin. Note:The default TCP window size in Windows is 65,536 bytes (64 KB). The T
Hi everyone, has anyone tried using OMV 8 (Debian 13.4) as a Linux backup repository for Veeam VBR v13? I checked the official documentation for VBR v13 compatibility, but it currently only lists support from 11.0 up to 13.1. Would I be safe to proceed with the OMV 7 to 8 upgrade?
I set up a brand new Object First OOTBI appliance and had it taking real backups in under an hour. That includes the TUI configuration, web UI setup, adding it to Veeam Backup and Replication as a direct to object repository, and running an actual full backup job. This thing is fast to stand up.OOTBI stands for Out of the Box Immutability. It is S3 compatible object storage with native immutability built in from the start. You do not bolt anything on. You do not license immutability separately. It is there when you turn it on (yea!).The TUIWhen the appliance boots for the first time it drops you into the TUI. Text user interface. Old school looking but it is clean, linear, and does not waste your time at all. The first screen asks whether you are creating a new cluster or joining an existing one. For a fresh deployment select "I don't have an Ootbi cluster. Configure a new cluster for the appliance."Next you configure your network. Both data interfaces must be on the same subnet and
When I try to restore from HV guest using “Copy To” option, choose a folder and the “OK” button is greyed out. I used to use this function all the time on this server before I upgraded to 13.01. Any ideas?

After months of trying to get upgraded to v12, I finally got Veaam to v13 on Windows 10. The backup speed is amazing, over 200 MB/s. It is maxing out the 1 Gbps network. The two tape drives are running at 76-80 MB/s. I did have to remove my SCSI tape drive to get to Windows 10. I will have to replace the motherboard to get to Windows 11. Today, my 2.5G network upgrade arrives. It wa $170 for two managed switched for VLANs and 4 NICs. I ordered two TP-Link Omada 2.5G 5 port managed switches to get VLANs on my Fortinet firewall. I need them to get more DHCPv6-PD subnets from AT&T fiber. I am setting up VLANs on DMZ and internal6 for my workstations and servers. I have four Brostrend 2.5G Ubuntu capable NICs cards. Two for my HP Z840 Hyper-V server. One for DMZ and one for Internal6 for all my VMs. One for my workstation and tape server. By the weekend, I should have everything configured and ready to test network performance on Veaam. So far no issues with Veeam.
Receiving error message “invalid system configuration detected”. Checked the logs under C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp\ but not finding anything. The logs end with Vmacheck upgrade.
Hi Veeam Community I’m unable to run any backups on Veeam Agent for Windows (6.3.1.1074, free edition). While my setup was working previously, I now get the error “Failed to create VSS snapshot” when attempting to run a backup. My destination is an SMB share on a local Windows Server (Server 2022 OS). Other devices on my network (In identical configurations, “Entire Computer”) are able to back up to that share successfully, it’s just this one machine that’s failing.I have tried the following and it only kept the backups successfull without any warnings for 2-3 days and then reoccursRan the following commands:net stop vss net start vss You can also restart these services in services.msc: Volume Shadow Copy Microsoft Software Shadow Copy ProvideWhen running the vssadmin list writers command I see that this writer times out and others show no errorsAny assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated
While installing Veeam Backup & Replication v13.0.0.4967 from the ISO (Rocky Linux–based appliance), the installer stops mid-way with an “An unknown error has occurred” message from Anaconda. The traceback points to dnf/base.py related to remote package selection or repository fetching. This occurred during the “Downloading packages” stage. Who else has run into this error? Another error, you could run into is this “Appliance Installation Stuck on "Configuring addons" and the following KB addresses what to do correctly.
Instead of backing up the volume, it’s taking multiple copies of the data, one for each snapshot. I think you need to allow specification of which btrfs snapshots/subvolumes not to backup as otherwise you copy the volume multiple times which is really not sensible.
root@charon:/home/amonra# apt-get install blksnap veeamReading package lists... DoneBuilding dependency tree... DoneReading state information... DoneE: Unable to locate package blksnapE: Unable to locate package veeamroot@charon:/home/amonra# So clearly I need to do something before I can install. The manual didn’t say where the repository was.
I have been approached by the book publishing company (Packt) for my latest release - Mastering Veeam Backup & Replication 13 to see if there are 3–4 people out there that would like a copy. There are however some conditions for receiving the book -You must read the book and complete an Amazon review of it You need to help spread the word on socials about the book and even a blog post if you canIf there is anyone in the community that is interested and can meet these conditions, drop me a DM with your details for shipping and once I have the 3–4 people I will submit that to Packt to send out your books.
What a fantastic Veeam 100 Show we just had! Thank you Neil , @stevennew , @Rin ! We got to hear a real customer story around deploying Veeam, enabling Veeam Vault, and actually validating disaster recovery through real-world testing. Really great discussion around what worked well, why the VCSP relationship was such an important part of the journey, and what comes next.In case you missed it, you can watch it in here: Best,Madi
Hello,as in the title, given the software stopped being able to make backups after the April windows update that changed vss and a few other things , is there anyone knowing when the situation may get fixed ?And will be fixed with an update to Agent , or need to wait for a new monthly update from microsoft ? I’m a bit new but other vendors have been I think more vocal publishing info and/or in some cases updates to their software , while I think I didn’t see anything about Agent
