Are you tired of typing kubectl over and over again?Hi Folks,If any of you are planning on taking the CKA or CKAD certification exams bear in mind that effective use of your time is very important for passing because they are both hands on practical exams with no multiple choice questions. I completed the last question of the CKA in the final minute of the exam! You can save a lot of time by creating aliases. So instead of having to type constantly kubectl you can create an alias k and type this instead. It is up to you how many you want to create during the exam but for daily work life these aliases are also huge time savers.Ahmet Alp Balkan has a great script to create many aliases for your home labs or work. If you are like me can just pick and choose a few and create them. https://github.com/ahmetb/kubectl-aliasesHere is a simple example to create a k alias for kubectl:open the .bashrc file in your home directory with your favourite editor Type in the alias (I normally put mine rig

I’m sorry, no v11 content here…I wanted to share this video on v10 which I’ve found in the Veeam channel; although it’s almost a year old I hadn’t seen it before. After viewing this video, the question is: Will v11 be even better?
Afternoon! I raised a case with Veeam about the RTM that I don’t believe has made it into the GA in time so thought I’d mention here.Scenario:Latest Veeam v10a in a distributed deployment, with dedicated roles to each server. Attempting to upgrade to v11.Issue:When upgrading Enterprise Manager to v11 when it is the sole Veeam product installed, the main setup executable from the v11 ISO will incorrectly report that only v9.5u4b and above are supported for upgrading to v11.Workaround:After a discussion with Veeam support this is purely an issue with the main setup launcher reading an old attribute (this wasn’t elaborated on further). It is still supported to browse to the Enterprise Manager section of the ISO and run the installer from there. It will detect it is a supported upgrade path and install as expected.
Will The New Version Of “V11 Backup And Replication Community Edition” Be Released This Week?
HiWill CDP be compatible with Oracle ensuring transaction consistent replicas?
Hello everybody! So now, we have the official date for Veeam v11 release.I'd love to know what are your expectations about this version. Is there some feature that someone would like to highlight?Any concern about that? Just let me know!Let’s talk!
Hi guys One of our customer migrated all his workloads to Azure. For backup compliance he defined all workloads have to be backed up daily to AWS S3 immutable object store. So we have Veeam Backup for Azure for IaaS and NAS Backup for Azure File Share. Now my struggle is real. When I backup the file share with NAS Backup I’m not able to write the data to AWS on daily base, only “Keep previous file version” works. I used a scale-out backup repository with capacity tier the s3 immutable store and the setting “Copy backups to object store as soon as they are created” and “Move backups to object storage as they age out the operational restore window” but nothing happened. Also the Azure IaaS Backup Copy job does not work as expected. As backup repository I need to specify a scale-out repo because directly to object store is not possible. With same scale-out repo as above the local stored elements will not be deleted. Does anyone have any experience and/or suggestions?Kind regardsDaniel
Hi guys, want to make you aware of a major update on the VBO Best Practice guide available at https://bp.veeam.com/vbo. With the update mostly being v5 content I’ve also updated the base technology to improve the search massively and included a nice section on Least Privilege access based on my scripting efforts. All constructive feedback is welcome!
I think it will be very good to hear Veeam at this event and above all to win to win prizes hahaha Register Now: https://www.veeam.com/microsoft-ignite-2021.html
Update 5b for Veeam Backup for Office 365 was released yesterday, which I’ve discovered from @AnthonySpiteri’s blog:https://anthonyspiteri.net/patch-backup-microsoft-office-365-v11/https://www.veeam.com/kb4092Besides the preparation for the upcoming v11 VBR release I would like to highlight this resolved issue:Under certain conditions retention policy mistakenly cleans actual Exchange backup data from Jet-based repositories set with snapshot-based retention of less than 2 years. This issue applies to Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office versions 3.0 – 4c. I’m not sure at what conditions this could happen but it sounds rather serious.

Does anyone had this issue and had fixed it with “Instant VM Recovery” of VEEAM 10 ?Is a VEEAM Licence for VMware and for Hyper-V needed ?

Hello everyone,I’m wondering what is your strategies/tricks about backuping a large vm (many TB+)? Duration? Active Full ? Synthetic one day a week? I look forward to reading you
Hey guys,With two weeks to go the hype is getting real for Veeam now.I saw one of Rick’s bloopers on Twitter and got an idea for this little mash up Avengers Infinity War / Veeam teaser. It fits a little too well IMO! I’d like to thank @Rick Vanover / Thanos / Ricknos? for being a good sport about this abuse.
Hi all, Can I add new backup server in this Tape? Thanks in advance
One of the things that I will be doing, starting with the v11 release, is preparing a “How to upgrade” Blog and Video situation that I will post here in the Veeam Community site. This will be an exclusive resource you will only get here! Now just to be clear, this post will be straight blocking and tackling, it’s not going to cover what’s new, it’s for the person who has a previous version and is ready to upgrade. Here’s my loose agenda of what I plan on covering:Pre-Steps Key documentation to review Licensing and Product How to get license updated, steps to secure license admin/access How and where to download the product(s) Must-See Information Noting key changes/dropped platforms Known issues Key advice from Veeam Tech Support Common Case Summary thru RTM Note scenarios where “If you are using _X_ existing capability, it will be new this way: See this” Configuration Backup - Verify it is done, where it is, etc. Upgrade and Beyond Information of doing the upgrade (Possibl

This issue I’ve seen with larger SOBRs having many ReFS extents. Having a backup-copy job (pruning) with GFS there were sudden unintended switches of backup chains to other extents. Thus loosing all space efficiency for the GFS points. We used scripts here to detect chains spanning more than a single extent. It turned out to be a bug solved in V10 paired with a very conservative process in VBR to detect extents near space exhaustion. There is some estimation here due not being able to estimate the space savings due to block recloning. This could be tweaked with two regkeys:Pfad: HKLM\Software\Veeam\Veeam Backup and ReplicationName: SOBRSyntheticFullCompressRate Value: 35, DWORDDescription: override the estimated space VM would take on SOBR in a full backup. % of previous full backup size. Name: SobrForceExtentSpaceUpdateValue: 1, DWORDDescription: enables advanced SOBR extents free space update logic. With this set to 1 (enabled) service updates cached extent free space every time tas
Dear all, is it possible to create backups (full, incremantal etc.) for MaxDB 7.9 with veeam and backint? The OS is SLES 12 SP5. Kind regardsSmiddy
I am curious what languages are used by the community for reporting, monitoring and/or automation. I personally do a lot of scripting with PowerShell. What language is worth learning it?I wish, Veeam will replace their PowerShell Plug-In by a PowerShell module in www.powershellgallery.com.@Kseniya Just a little thing: when embedding code here in the community, PowerShell is no language-option. Maybe this can be added in the future?
