Hello,  I have a monthly tape job that started last Monday. Today I found that the tape job failed with the Data error (cyclic redundancy check) for some backup jobs.I decided to manually start again the same tape job with new cartridges, however, I realized that it’s taken only the missed backup jobs from the previous failed jobs, for the other backup jobs the result is “success” but with the message “no backup files found”. Do you have an idea? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza. PS: VBR 10

Hello there,I have a backup job which was going seamlessly. but in the last days it was failing after reaching 80% with error message attached below. I tried the job by disabling firewall rules nothing new occurred. All backup infrastructure components are working fine for other VMs. I have also checked firewall logs but there is nothing blocked related to this backup.Error message:Error: Unstable connection: unable to transmit data. Failed to upload disk. Skipped arguments: [vddkConnSpec>]; Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [11956]. Failed to download disk 'VM-Name.vmdk'. I need to figure out how to resolve this issue immediately.

We are being told by our Veeam Cloud Connect Provider, Global Data Vault, that we still can’t upgrade to Veeam 11 since there are still bugs in the Cloud Director services.  We are also being told that No other Cloud Connect Providers are on Veeam 11 yet because Veeam is telling them not to be until these problems are fixed. Are you hearing the same thing, or if you have Veeam 11 and have no issue with your Cloud Connect Provider, how long have they been compatible with version 11 and who is that Vendor?

Dear all,Apology I am a newbie here and my question may sound naive. We appreciate any help from your guys.We used Tivoli in the past to backup Oracle for both long term data keeping and DR. We created 3 sets of tapes. 2 sets would  be always in the tape library and one at remote site. Every 2 weeks we get back the offsite set and load it into library, and send one set of tapes to remote site for storage.Could you please give some idea how to set up file-to-tape job (let say daily full backup of Oracle) in Veeam in similar fashion? Our idea is to create a media pool with 3 media sets. One media set online for backup for 2 weeks, another offline in the tape library and one media set in the vault (to keep in remote site). And we will rotate in that way for every 2 weeks.Will that work? We value your input very much.Thank you.Hien

Hello everyone,So, I just tried out my new tape library (Powervault 124T) and it worked for the first job I did. I erased some tapes, let that job finish, ejected the magazine, reloaded with some tapes that had data, I did an inventory on them, and while I thought it finished. It must not have. I ejected the tape magazine, changed tapes, and discovered there was one still in the drive, and the job was not doing anything. It was stuck.I canceled it, said okay I’m going to re-run it, but now the drives shows locked & I can’t unlock it.

Good day… We’re a small MSP with a cloud environment of about 120 VMs mostly on HyperV (our target platform) with perhaps 40% still on VMware. We run a 10Gbps core with Veeam running on a dedicated server, sub-interfaces into each customer network for guest interaction and 12 14TB spindles behind a MegaRaid 9361-8i controller. We use a separate set of 12 2TB disks for our internal systems. We’re on the hook for 90 days of backups per SLA and the last set offsite (we try to keep at least the last 30 days, but we’ve been adjusting this). We’re running on an older generation server with 2 Xeon 2620 v2’s (6C @ 2.1), 96GB of RAM and REFs on the repos. We’ve tried using 1TB of cachecade on the MegaRaid, but the size seems too small and it actually hurts us on performance. We’ve turned it off for now.We have been struggling to keep up with our backup workloads, despite the box seeming to be okay from a resource perspective at the OS level. Can Veeam backup and replication Community edition be installed on Client PC? Can we control security for the user so that they will not have access to modify configurations.

If you're managing Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows with VSPC and have backup encryption enabled, then you need to install this patch and re-enter the password. This is required because the original encryption password can be reset by the automatic policy resync task which is started after you upgrade to version 5.To help you with locating agent jobs that need to have their encryption password set again, with the patch installed we show a failed job session for all affected backup agents, so don't be surprised when you see those. Cleaning tape is in slot 10 and unrecognized. Can it be visible in Media Pool? What would be the process to replace the cleaning tape and add it to the slot. Where do I find the I/O slot? One thing that I find really useful if you’re moving a small VM for a small customer that doesn’t have a VCenter to a new Vsphere host is to just simply connect the the two ESXi hosts in Veeam:Add both hosts in the Virtual Infrastructure Create a replication job between the old host and the new host If it runs rather slow let it run for a few days.  Determine a small outage window where you’ll have the customer stop accessing data on the old host.  Do one more replication job. Shut the old VM down in the old host Power on the new server on the new host.It’s important to not use the replica_ prefix or suffix just for the sake of simplicity. A lot of times focus is on larger customers and how to vmotion this or that but sometimes it’s nice to think about how small customers can be served too.  Using Veeam for that is a life saver.
