Today I’ve discovered an interesting blog article about the VMware vCenter Converter. Apparently VMware has removed it from the Downloads, so it’s no longer available for the public. The reasons for this is, that there hasn’t been any development in the last years and it already went end of support in Decemter 2019 (!), which I didn’t know.VMware is working on a new release of the Converter and it will be exciting to see how the next release will look like and what it’s capable of.Here’s the blog post for reference: https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2022/02/vcenter-converter-unavailable-for-download.htmlWhile the vCenter Converter was a great piece of software which I’ve used many times in my IT career, I haven’t used it since some time. The last times I had to convert physical systems or VMs to a different Hypervisor, I’ve had the luck that those customers were using Veeam. So instead of relying on the Converter or a different 3rd party tool, I restored the system with Veeam. This work
For those of you that do O365 backups with Veeam today v6 was released. You can find information and download links at the following KB site - KB4286: Release Information for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 6.0 Be sure to read the upgrade notes as there are some gotchas there.

Happy Friday everyone! I’ve been speaking to @Kseniya about the upcoming world backup day and thought I’d try to make this month’s Fun Fridays all about backups and world backup day. Today I have a simple game in mind that will help us all be more aware of backups. Here’s how it works:It’ll be a simple Q&A, I’ll start this off with a question, and whoever comments answering the question then asks another question alongside their answer related to data protection, and whoever answers them then asks a question, as so on… So! My question:WHEN is world backup day?
Hi Every one,one of my client use huawei vdi solutions. now they want to backup VDI machine using Veeam VBR.is it possible to take backup by VBR?

How you can integrate Veeam Backup for GCP with Veeam Backup & Replication, as well as sending a GCP Backup Copy to a VCSP. https://jonahmay.net/2022/01/12/integrating-veeam-backup-for-gcp-with-vbr-and-cloud-connect/
We are running 11a with IBM SVC storage integration and storage snapshots. On our Linux proxies there are regularly leftover multipath devices. In the case below the only mapped device at this time is the 5GB disk (mpatha, for testing). There is no backup running anymore, no 10 TB disk should be there. The amount of devices varies from host to host, some don’t have any leftovers. # multipath -lmpathsqu (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e70) dm-41 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqh (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e82) dm-15 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqt (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e77) dm-39 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqs (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e6b) dm-37 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpathsqr (3600507680c80802f3000000000037e67) dm-35 ##,##size=10T features='0' hwhandler='0' wp=rwmpatha (3600507680c80802f30000000000274b6) dm-6 IBM,2145size=5.0G features='1 queue_if_no_path' hwhandler='1 alua' wp=
Hi,Veeam Backup and Replication used to backup Nutanix AHV infrastructure VMs and have configured Backup job and Backup Copy Jobs at DR site NAS Repository. used Proxies:Nutanix AHV vProxy - Max Tasks 10 Vmware Backup Proxy - Max tasks 4 Backup Proxy - Agent - Max tasks 4Gateway ServerI need to add dedicated Gateway Server close to NAS Repository at the DR site to optimize the backup and copy job performance with Repository. what are the main points should I consider about the Backup infrastructure to size the required Gateway server? Is there any sizing tool for specify requirements for gateway server?WAN AcceleratorI want to add separate WAN Accelerators at Primary source and target destinations. what should I consider when sizing VMs for WAN accelerators for my requirement. please help me to get this done. Is there a need to deploy backup proxy for veeam agent backup?
Hey guys,I read in helpcenter document that you can deploy a dedicated distribution server to reduce the workload on backup server for agent backups. If have multiple agents to backup, can I use the same distribution server for all the agents?
Greetings, I have been searching for a bit now and have not come across an answer to this. I was wondering if there was a way to export the actual backup job settings and import into another server that already has existing backups.I have multiple Veeam servers I would like to consolidate into one server. I have moved the backup files and rescanned the storage, that part all looks good. What I am unable to figure out is a way to just get the backup jobs onto the new server, and repoint to the storage I have moved the files to.Is there a way to do this without recreating all the jobs?
Confused on what to do with the monthly license review. This has started popping up on us in the last few days in the backup program (though we’ve been using Veeam already for months...not sure why it’s deciding to start appearing now)We rent a license from a 3rd-party provider. It’s in their name.I don’t have the “submit” option available when I view the report. I can only print or save it. I have a pdf of the file now, but have no clue what to do with it. Apparently creating the pdf also caused the message to go away every time the program was launched. Is this all I have to do? It referenced having to submit it to Veeam, but I have no way of doing that.As far as I am aware, I do not have any access to the Veeam Cloud to send this to you. Do I just send this pdf to my 3rd-party provider to submit on my behalf? If so, will my backup program automatically know when they submit the report so I don’t hit the “must submit by” date?
Hello, relatively new user to Veeam BU here. I am trying to find the cause of the error below:The login is to the vCenter Server. So is Veeam complaining about the certificate for the vCenter Server? Where do I start looking at this point, thanks. ..ar
Hello, I have a Veeam server that backs up a Win server 2016 server located at another location. Veeam connects to this VM over a SDWAN connection (Zerotier) This has worked perfectly for years. All of a sudden, a few days ago, it started failing. I uninstalled all components (Veeam Agent) from the server, then redeployed the agent. I can ping the remote server, install the veeam agent, etc on it. But when I run the job, I get an error: “Error: Failed to connect to remote backup service.” Any ideas what could cause this?
Hey guys, for creating agent backup, there is a job mode called failover cluster. Is it for always on failover cluster instances in SQL server?

Hey everyone, Tim announced earlier today that his famous RPS (Restore Point Simulator) tool is now deprecated. If this name doesn’t mean anything to you, the URL likely will: https://rps.dewin.me. For years this tool has been a must have for anyone working with data protection. Now Veeam have an official tool (Fun Fact, some RPS code was used/referenced in the official tool so it lives on!). The official tool is available at https://calculator.veeam.com/vbr, it has been available for a little while now but today is the day Tim officially announced the deprecation of the project. As such please remember to use the official tool as part of your sizing efforts moving forwards. And finally, thanks Tim for all the times your tool has helped us out!
Hey Guys,Is it possible to initiate an application item level restore for MySQL backup?
So I had fun the other night. I had an older Synology NAS that was on NFS4.1 that i upgraded to the latest v7 OS. However, 4.1 has been removed and reduced to 4.0 for that architecture (i’ve since seen you can bodge it in cmd line but not going there yet).So I had to remove the NFS datastore from vcenter and remap with NFS3 and re-import the VM’s that were solely running on that storage. So now Veeam see’s the VM’s as new ones but one is a large archive server. Before I try to back that up, and find that it needs to backup the entire 20Tb offsite!! is there a way I can convince Veeam that this VM is the same as the one on it’s database.Or do I not need to as it’s clever enough to realise?
Hello, I achieve a functional configuration for SureBackup custom scripts, already created some of them. But I saw that the only result of the scripts that is presented is a true/false output, that is translated to passed/failed on the report of SureBackup. I like to customize this result, write some custom words on the result instead of only passes/failed. Is there some way to do it? On the .xml configured for the Role I did not found any TAG related to it. Thank you in advance.
