VMware - Nutanix AHV replication/backup copy using Veeam

Hi, we have customer with VMware infra in Production and using Nutanix AHV in DR. They want to replicate from VMware to Nutanix and failback if needed? Is that possible or what will be the work around using veeam?

Backup Enterprise Manager account locked out

Trying to migrate Enterprise Manager to a new Server. I stopped the Veeam services on the old server and disconnected it from the network. I installed the EM on the new server and pointed it to an old DB that was used by the old server. There was a dialogue window confirming that the DB was owned by the old EM server and that it would be transferred to the new EM server.What happened next is that the the service account was getting locked out. So I had to roll back the changes. Good thing, I did not uninstall the EM from the old server per the instruction on https://www.veeam.com/kb1889 . Curious what happened here.

Veeam EM v12 Upgrade - Antivirus Problem

Hi all,I want to share with you a problem I encountered on a customer while upgrading Veeam Enterprise Manager from v11a to v12 latest release. The environment This is a simple Veeam v11a installation, VBR + EM.The customer uses Windows Defender for Endpoint (Antivirus/EDR) on the server, the exclusions are correctly set as per KB https://www.veeam.com/kb1999. The upgrade..Ouch! After successfully updating a dozen Veeam environments to v12, I start this new upgrade with the confidence "It works!".Once I get to the end of the wizard and start the update, at some point you receive the error "Failed to create website 0x80070020".This error is reported in the KB https://www.veeam.com/kb1992, where it is actually recommended to disable the antivirus. Support case and solution I was followed by a good Veeam support engineer, but there was nothing to do..unfortunately it was not enough to disable the AV (we tried everything, registry, powershell, voodoo rituals), but it was necessary to compl

I sort of understand backup and recovery...but if you have data, you have data, no? What were the reasons you use a backup or recovery service? I don’t understand what problems it might solve

Veeam Reporting for Nutanix AHV

Is there any way to report (powershell script etc.) on Nutanix AHV repository hosted content (via Hyper-V) except for using the Veeam ONE “Protected VMs) report.  Information required,  Succesful backup sessions: Job anme, start & stop times, Durations, avg speed, total, processed, data read, transferred, dedup, compression, result.

Veeam agent backup fail due to VSS SQLServer writer error. Reason : 995(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)

Veeam agent based backup is failing, SQL Appaware is not enabled, but backup is failing due to SQLServer writer in non-retryable error. Has anyone came accross this? Found this in event application logs:Write on "{1ABD5CD5-0679-4CAC-8E24-9D5844B071D7}64" failed: 995(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)

Don't post brain dumps

Folks, Please don’t post brain dumps. You are not only cheating the system but also yourselves. I have had to deal with paper cert folks and believe me they don’t last long. The exam and the piece of paper are not the point. It is the process and the knowledge that is what you want. At 1 am when sitting there clueless on a severity 1 call your brain dumps will be of no use. cheers

Backup Job Error: The credentials supplied to the package were not recognized

Hello guys! It’s the first time I got this error message in one of my backup jobs. Can't install VeeamOne Agent

Hello, Just getting into Veeam. Trying to install VeeamOne agent on my Veeam B&R box from my standalone VeeamOne server. However, it keeps failing out. I’ve tried unloading any anti-virus, disabling firewall. I’m running it using administrator credentials. It is not domain joined so it does not have any odd security policies. I’m using ComputerName\Administrator for the installation account. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365’s self-service restore portal was introduced in version 6 of this product and opened up the ability to grant end users access to their backup data and elevated users to restore orchestration over delegated data scopes. Pre-Veeam V12 Upgrade

Prior to upgrading to Veeam V12, ensure that, "Transform previous backup chains into rollbacks" is not enabled in your environment. If it is, the upgrade will fail as per KB4390: Feature Deprecation: "Transform previous backup chains into rollbacks" (veeam.com)I just wanted to point out a slight caveat when checking our environment. If you decide to check each job setting and disable the option, bear in mind, if you have a snapshot job with storage integration, it may still show as enabled. Normally a snapshot job looks like as follows without an option to select the backup chain option: However, running the PowerShell command:Get-VBRJob | where {$_.BackupTargetOptions.TransformIncrementsToSyntethic -eq $True}returns the following: This can be easily sorted by running:Set-VBRJobAdvancedBackupOptions -Job "Job Name" -TransformIncrementsToSyntetic $false

Backing up a remote server drive shared across a L2TP VPN.

I have installed Veeeam Backup V12 Community edition on a local Windows 10 PC.  I have a 4TB external USB drive connected to this machine that I intend to use as a backup repository.The local machine uses a VPN connection to connect with a shared windows server 2019 drive located on a remote server. The connection is always on.In my reading across various forums, Veeam seems to the the product of choice to accomplish this. The tutorials I have read thus far appear to target a much higher level of backup sophistication (VMs, Hyper* and whatnot). Can anyone please advise or point me in the right direction to accomplish this somewhat trivial task?Thanks

Azure Immutablity - possible to enable it on existing container?

One of the great features we’ve gotten with V12 is object-lock with Azure S3.@Rick Vanover did a great walkthrough for MS Ignite last year with a V12 beta already.With new storage accounts and containers it works as he explained, which I could prove in a few environments already. My (and some of my customer’s) question now is: can we enable it safely and supportedly on an existing blob bucket with let’s say hundreds of TB of data already inside? First, you would have to enable “version level immutabilty” within the container: Quite easy while creating a new container like Rick has shown, but if you would want to do this afterwards, you first had to enable a policy on the container: Having this policy also makes the container differ from a freshly set-up immutable container. The latter would not have this policy.To add this policy one would also have to enable versioning for the storage account beforehand: I tried that in a testing environment and ended up being able to activate immutab

Hello, it’s about Veeam Backup for M365.would it be possible to start a backup job automatically when a previously specified backup is completed?For example:I’ve a Backup Job which safe just Microsoft Teams on a Server A.So when this Backup Job is finished, then start automatically the second Backup Job with Microsoft Teams on a Server B.

Is there any way to successfully produce a backup copy job of a set of file shares to a rotate set of USB drives that will be swapped out weekly? If not through the mechanic of the backup copy function maybe another way? Thanks,T

Oracle Block Change Tracking (BCT) is a feature in Oracle databases that helps improve the performance of incremental backups by tracking the changes made to database blocks.When Block Change Tracking (BCT) is enabled, the database keeps track of all the blocks that have been modified since the last backup. This information is stored in a bitmap file, which is used by backup software to determine which blocks to backup. By only backing up the changed blocks, incremental backups can be performed more quickly and efficiently.BCT is particularly useful in environments with large databases or where backups need to be performed frequently. Backup Copy Job + WAN Accelerator

Hello to all,I configured Backup Copy Jobs to the second location via VPN.Two WAN Accelerators on source side and one on destination.VM’s with low disks are going perfectly but the problem is the big ones.Our FileServer is arround 7TB. Is it normal to take this long, its the first Backup Copy job without initial seed.
