We attempted a disaster recovery test for servers backed up at Wasabi and 7 of our 8 servers recovered just fine. We have a decent sized file server (2.4 TB) that won't restore from the capacity tier storage. It gets to the same point each time and fails. We have a support ticket and have attempted some fixes and no luck. We would like to clear out both the performance and capacity tier of this one server so that it can create a new full backup at performance and then send the new backup to wasabi. What is the optimal way to clear this out? Just select this server from that object storage and select delete from disk on that server? Or should I create a new job with this one VM and run it?
By default, VBR does a configuration backup every day at 10:00.It is obvious that this backup should also follow the 3-2-1(-1-0) rule. A easy way to do this is to copy these restore points to a machine that is already backed up be Veeam and therefore covered by the 3-2-1(-1-0) rule. This can be done with a Veeam File Copy job. This job can copy files between systems part of Managed Servers.Lets do it and create a File Copy job:and select the path to the configuration backup as sourceFor destination select the server system you want to copy files to. As mentioned, this system should be part of backup job. Finally select your preferred time schedule. I would recommend to run this job just after the configuration backup.Done? Almost! It is important to know, File Copy job copies files respectively a directory, but is does not synchronize. Therefore the amount of files at the destination will increase. So they should also get deleted after some time otherwise partition runs full. A easy wa
I have installed Veeam B&R Community Edition. I have to take backup from x.x.x.6 to x.x.x.10I have successfully created Backup Repository for x.x.x.10Now I am creating Protection Group where in I am adding x.x.x.10 from where I have take backup. As soon as I Test the credentials (Either Local Host / Domain ) in both cases I am receiving the below error. I tried to OFF the Windows Defender but then also no success. Kindly advise
Hello, 3 days ago I upgraded Veeam Backup & Replication from 11 to 11a (220.127.116.111).Since then in the notifications in case of Warning I’m not getting the Details anymore.Actually I know the details of the warnings because they are “historical” and I can still see them in the console, but why they are not written in the e-mails anymore? (see example picture attached, the last column is empty even in case of Warning)Thanks for your help.
Customer is running backups of their VM’s at PROD site to at SOBR and running a backup copy for that job to their DR site (also to a SOBR). They want to replicate some key VMs to their DR site as well and was hoping to seed those replicas from a the backup copy at the DR site. Apparently seeding replicas from a backup (or backup copy) on a SOBR is not supported. Trying to understand why not and how to work around this other than going back to non-SOBR backup repositories?
Git has released a new verson to address some security vulnerabilities, As reported, we are aware that GitHub is affected. But there is a need to upgrade your local installation of Git, especifially when you are using Git on Windows or on multi-user machines. All credit goes to to 俞晨东, and the fix was authored by Johannes Schindelin. CVE-2022-24765As stated in this article, this vulnerability affects multi-user machines, Git users might find themselves unexpectedly in a Git worktree, e.g. when another user created a repository in C:\.git, in a mounted network drive or in a scratch space. Merely having a Git-aware prompt that runs git status (or git diff) and navigate to a directory that is supposedly not a Git worktree, or open such a directory in an editor or IDE such as VS Code or Atom, which will potentially run commands defined by that other user. Vulnerability ImpactSince part of Git for Windows’ uninstaller is copied into the current user’s temporary directory and run in that pla

With the release of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v6 the Self Service Portal was also unleashed. In this video we run through a scenario where a new tenant is being onboarded from the Service Provider point of view as well as what steps need to be actioned by the tenants.
Hello to share a new vulnerabilitySpringShell attacks target about one in six vulnerable orgs (bleepingcomputer.com)(1) New Messages! (checkpoint.com)Spring4Shell: Detect and mitigate vulnerabilities in Java Spring | Dynatrace | Dynatrace newsWhat is Spring4Shell?Spring4Shell is a critical vulnerability in the Spring Framework, an open source platform for Java-based application development. Because 60% of developers use Spring for their main Java applications, many applications are potentially affected.Spring is popular because it enables software engineers to more easily write and test code to maintain modular applications. Other libraries enable developers to become less dependent on enterprise web servers and, therefore, reduce configuration complexity and cost.Spring4Shell is one of three vulnerabilities published on March 30:Spring Core RCE (critical): CVE-2022-22965 a.k.a. Spring4Shell or SpringShell Affected library: org.springframework:spring-bean Information exposure in Spring
I am happy to announce that I am preparing a new book, the topic is “Design and Best Practices of HCI”. In this book, the reader can find the design and best practices of HCI. And I also added the contents of data protection into this book, Veeam VBR v11 is one of the solutions. After this book, you will learn the total solution of “HCI + Backup + DR”. Please stay tuned.
Happy Friday everyone, Interested to see people’s opinions on this subject. RAID for backup storage, most (I really hope all) organisations will use RAID for the storage underlying their backups. But, what type of RAID do you typically use, and why? Vote in the poll and then share any particulars below. For example, if you use RAID 60, but choose to have 4x stripes vs 2. I want to add, there are no right or wrong answers (even you RAID 0/ No RAID brave people!), but there’s always a reason behind the decision, were you after maximum density, improved write vs read, maximum durability, reduced durability due to multiple copies etc.
Greetings Community,Speaking with Kseniya last week, I asked if it would be possible to share with all of you a collection of articles that hope it will be of your interest. All of the articles, or projects, are related to VB365, some of them are just for fun, because we can do them (like translations of the Restore Portal), others are quite useful, like getting a valid SSL Certificate. It should be a note on every article of what is officially supported, and what is not, play carefully :)Please remember that a lot of them are Community driven blogs, tools, etc.How to have a holistic Audit of the Restore Operations - Perfect for anyone, but specially Service Providers, and big Enterprises that need to audit all the restore operations. How to restrict the login to certain users to the Restore Portal from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v6 Perfect to give the right access to the right users. Build an allow list in a few steps. This is more of a processing issue but . . . I have one VBR system that processes some rather large file servers. We’re going to be setting up Scale Out Repo to Wasabi into an object locking bucket. When Veeam locally merges the latest incremental into a new full, does it push the complete newly created full out to the bucket or is there some magic that happens where Veeam is only updating the current full that’s sitting out in the cloud. People with small internet pipes want to know. With a small domain server it’s no big deal to push 20gig but when it’s 25TB…..I’m also going to assume since Veeam is in control of the object locking and retention, I won’t have to figure out when things will be unlocked and the magical merge is going to happen. Thanks ahead of time.
Hi team, I have a new backup I am running that is failing at the first full. It fails and says that it cannot find a VMDK file that is located in an excluded disk. The error reads: “Processing servername Error: File 'X.vmdk' was not found. This disk is a USB attached storage device, but it was added to vmware as an iscsi drive so that we can exclude it in VBR. I have double checked the disk exclusions and confirmed that I have told the job to only back up the correct disks (the disks that aren’t this USB attached storage). I have also checked the checkbox to remove excluded disks from configuration. The file is present in vcenter. I checked. I can’t figure out what is going on and why this job is failing due to a file that should not even matter because I have excluded from the job, the disk the file is located on.
Hello Team, I am working on a project where customer would like to backup their M365 data (mailbox, onedrive, sharepoint etc.) using Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and also backup Azure VMs using Veeam Backup & Replication. I see Azure has both these available in the market place. So if I use them and deploy them directly on Azure Subscription it is good enough right? Or should I need any other instance of Veeam Backup and Replication or Veeam Backup for M365 in on-premise infra or Azure VM etc.? Cause I saw this video - Here I see the Veeam is installed else where and we are trying to connect to cloud appliance. So I am confused
Hi !I’m using the extract utility for test all the password of encrypted jobs and it work well. Just a problem when the password contain a double quotes (“).I pass the good password but it seem that the extract utlity fails when we used password with double quote. The main command i use is that one : .\Extract.exe -dir $full_dir -password $mdpI got the error message “Password is incorrect”obviously I already have verified the password and he is correct. Does anyone have an idea ? or do i have to change all the password that contain a double quote ?

Hi there in Virtual World :)Running Veeam 11 - We experienced a complete full “Files to Tape” backup when the daily Tape job ran for the first time after entering Daylight Saving Time (DST) last weekend.ALL files in our backup Disk repository (xx TB) - that means UNCHANGED Veeam backup files from the last 4 months - was all sent to Tape once again - taking several job-runtime days to finish - and filling up a lot of new Tapes, which we needed to supply into the Tape library.Have anybody else experienced similar issues? As far as I have read - Veeam operates in the UCT format - which should not be sensitive due Server time changes or DST - except changes in the local job time schedule:Daylight savings time - Veeam R&D ForumsDaylight saving switch changes job start time - Veeam R&D Forums We didn`t have any other issues running the usual VM Machine jobs to disk. This issue has been raised to the Veeam Support - and it has been escalated to their RnD engineers. So hopefully they wil
